What can I say, but BOOK right now with Makenzie Photography. She is absolutely amazing and works so well with my teens (that are not the most cooperative clients). We have done most of our pictures with her in town but the last one was a mini session at the coast. Definitely well worth it. We also brought our pup (who was also not very cooperative), but Makenzie worked her magic!! Although the poses can feel awkward while she is taking pictures, they turn out amazing. I cannot recommend her enough.

Ahhh, I'm not even sure where to start with Makenzie and William. These two people are some of the most kind, sweet, and incredible people I've ever met. I first met Makenzie when she was the surprise photographer when my husband proposed and since then, she's been there for us through every major life event on the way. Where do I even begin? Talent is an understatement when it comes to Makenzie. My husband and I have been lucky enough to have her capture all the different stages of our relationship: while we were dating, during our engagement, and our wedding day. As exciting as wedding planning can be, it can also be extremely stressful and overwhelming. There are so many different options out there and you want to make sure that you have to best of everything. That's where Makenzie comes in. During the wedding planning process everyone will tell you to really enjoy the moment and take it all in; but regardless of how hard you try to do that the day will still be over in the blink of an eye. All you're left with at the end is your memories, photos, and video. Therefore, investing in your wedding photographer is one of the best decisions you will ever make. I booked Makenzie about a year and a half before our wedding date. At our initial meeting she went over everything that her wedding package included, asked about our engagement, and discussed possible ideas for our engagement pictures. A few months later, we met again to plan our engagement session. At that point Mason and I had already been together for 6 years and had taken professional pictures together on multiple occasions, so I had no specific ideas. I told Makenzie we trusted her creativity and vision. Her eyes instantly lit up and the wheels in her head started turning. She came up with the most darling theme- pajamas in the Sequoias to go with our winter wedding theme and these are still my favorite pictures we've ever taken to date. About a month before the big day Makenzie sent over a questionnaire so she could have all the details of the wedding, including the bridal party and family members. She went above and beyond to make sure she knew their names and all the different family dynamics. The day of the wedding Makenzie was amazing; she really ran the show. She was so organized, accommodating, and detail oriented. The day after the wedding Makenzie already had posted a sneak peek of the wedding photos she took on Facebook. As if that wasn't impressive enough, she had ALL the gorgeous photos edited and back to us within two weeks. I was blown away at pictures and the details. There were so many things day of that I didn't really get to enjoy or appreciate and I'm so thankful Makenzie was able to capture them. To summarize, Makenzie is thorough, sweet, fun, professional, light hearted, and a dream to work with. I can't express our gratitude for our beautiful wedding pictures. I'm so overwhelmed with the details she was able to capture for us. Having Makenzie shoot our wedding day was one of the best decisions we've ever made and we will forever cherish our photos. We couldn't be happier with our decision to choose Makenzie to be our photographer for our engagement and wedding photos. It's hard to put into words how phenomenal Makenzie is, both as a person and as a photographer. Growing up in Bakersfield, I knew who Makenzie was and found myself fawning over her gorgeous photos and vibrant style ... it was always my DREAM to have her photograph my wedding someday. When we got engaged, and realized that Makenzie had availability on our wedding day, that dream came true! And boy oh boy, we were not prepared for just how wonderful the experience would be with her as our photographer. Makenzie and her husband William drove all the way to Sacramento just to take our complimentary engagement pictures, and treated us to the most fun and efficient session EVER (at gorgeous locations I wasn't even aware of that Makenzie scouted ahead of time!) while getting to know us as a couple. When it came to wedding planning, the Covid-19 pandemic made things incredibly hard. But Makenzie was so adaptable and understanding as we changed our date, location, and schedule over and over again. On our wedding day, Makenzie and William worked their butts off to capture each special moment. I had the honor of getting to see her craft her famous details photos on my front porch, meticulously laying out the fabric backdrop and arranging our wedding stationary, rings, etc. beautifully amongst trimmings from our florals and perfectly sliced citrus. Watching Makenzie at work is truly a special thing, and you can see her passion in every shot. Her flow and efficiency during the ceremony and family photos was unbelievable, and we got to actually enjoy our cocktail hour (what bride can say that?!) Not to mention, she photographed our outdoor wedding in 97 degree heat while PREGNANT. We teared up after seeing our full gallery after our wedding - every moment and emotion perfectly captured. We have thousands of photos and can't narrow them down because we love EVERY single one. The lighting, the natural vibrancy, the composition of her shots - all beautifully captured the feeling of being at our Italian vineyard wedding. Makenzie photography is the go-to gal of Bakersfield as far as I'm concerned. Many photographers pictures look the same and can be kind of cheesy but Makenzie has this vibrant, beautiful style that can't be replicated.There are several reasons why I highly recommend Makenzie to all brides and high school seniors about to graduate: 1) It was really cool to get my makeup done. Totally didn't expect it, but makeup by a professional artist was included in her photography package. So, I didn't just get my pictures taken, I got pampered in the process. :) 2) She's so easy to work with. She listened to what I was going for and captured it perfectly.3) She has the vision - I didn't have to do anything but show up. She just pointed and directed and made me laugh and crack up the entire session. Then my photographs ended up looking great because I actually had a REAL smile.4) All my photographs were perfectly clear crisp. I've used maybe 2 or 3 other photographers in the Bakersfield area and for some reason the color was weird (like burnt) or they weren't completely clear. I understand with all the knobs and gadgets on the camera there's probably a lot going on but she's obviously very technically sound with her camera because every line was perfect. 5) She managed our time well. I didn't feel like I wasted my time. She knew exactly what to do, had us do it (had a blast) and then we were done. Thank you Makenzie!!6) She made me feel beautiful. I hate being in front of the camera, however she made me feel like a rockstar. It totally came out in my prints too - didn't feel awkward turned into didn't look awkward. She made me feel like a rockstar - well guess what, I kind of did look like a rockstar with how she ran our session. 7) Several of my images were already edited at our viewing session. When she showed us the photos, I didn't only get to see raw photographs but she'd already edited quite a lot of them so I could see how they were going to look. All this to say, I really feel like I got my money's worth with Makenzie Photography. Her prices are near around the same as other photographers in the Bakersfield area, but what I received was tangibly more. I got my makeup done, she listened to me and was easy to work with, she directed the entire session so I didn't have to feel awkward, the photographs were absolutely perfect in clarity and color, she didn't waste my time, she made me feel beautiful and she just went above and beyond all the way around. Thank you Makenzie for taking something that could have just been a "task" on the to-do list of taking pictures and turning it into an amazing experience - one I look forward to having again next year. Makenzie Photography is incredible! We have had the privilege of working with Makenzie on 3 separate occasions and each time our images were absolutely stunning. Her style is distinctive and vibrant and her persona so personally engaging that I would give her 10 Stars if I could!In August of 2016, Makenzie took our son's senior photos. The photographs were fantastic! And I can tell you from experience that trying to get that guy (my son) to pose for pictures is virtually impossible.In December of 2016 we asked Makenzie to take family photos while we had extended family in town for the holidays - there were 11 of us in the photos and she handled this large group with such easy professionalism. Makenzie put everyone at ease with her incredibly calm, friendly demeanor (I have to think she'd be a God-send for the craziness of a wedding day!). She got natural smiles from us all and we had a great time in the process. She knows Bakersfield locations perfectly and directed us to the ideal spot, where she proceeded to get all the shots we needed and more. Her ideas are positively inspired.Then in August of 2017, Makenzie took anniversary photos for my husband and me. Her use of natural light and her incredible eye for detail made our pictures absolutely amazing. Makenzie is truly an artist and knows exactly how you should tip your chin, or lean forward slightly, or bring your eye-line up "just so", and these small adjustments result in images that are just perfect. There's no standing around wondering what you should do or how you should pose - she just handles it! My engagement pictures are better than I could have ever imagined! I'm so in love with them thanks to the best photographer ever! Plus Makenzie is the sweetest person you'll ever meet! She makes you feel so comfortable in front of the camera and pays attention to all the little details, such as my sleeves being positioned correctly. And she got the photos back to us so quickly! When my husband and I first got engaged, Makenzie was the first choice we made while planning our wedding... and the best!!
