Luna Cafe & Bistro

Hidden gem on a weekday lunch. Menu looked exciting because of their Asian-Latin-Italian fusion food. They were not busy on a Wednesday lunch for downtown Bakersfield since their location is pretty tucked away from the busy area. They ambiance is refreshing with lively hanging plants indoors and a cute wrap around outdoor covered patio with heaters and wooden enclosure for privacy from the street. Food was delicious and inventive. Didn't think it would taste good combining Asian and Latin food together but it worked. Enjoyed the ceviche asiatico and the tostada that came with it was perfectly fried. Also the deep fried battered onions topped over the ceviche was delicious and stayed crunchy. Portions definitely shareable.Ordered the crispy Asian shrimp sandwich and it too had the fried onions and it was delicious. Had a good amount of shrimp to bun ratio. Portions are a little big for me but I'm sure just right if I didn't have an appetizer. The bar was able to accommodate and add liquor to one of their agua fresca drinks. Overall great experience. Will be back to try other items on the menu and maybe for dinner next time.

Food stellar per usual.. but about halfway through the burger I bit into bacon and pickles. I had confirmed with the waiter several times I didn't want any, and it was read back to me several times. Was upset because it was one of my last few meals before Ramadan and a month of fasting. Hoping wait staff might pay a bit more attention to the tickets, not our first time getting an order wrong. Love this place, will give them a second chance.

George was our pleasant and attentive server this evening. They have created such a lovely tranquil environment for dining. The food was delicious as usual. My companion had the Carnitas Enchiladas Verde. The pork in the enchilada was moist & flavorful. The enchilada includes carnitas, mozzarella, crema, queso fresco wrapped in corn tortillas with a tasty verde sauce topped by crispy onion strips. It is accompanied by yummy pot beans and their signature corn rice. I had the Filete Los Cabos Con Camaron. This is a scrumptious combination of grilled bass topped with jalapeño garlic butter & herbs and grilled shrimp cooked to perfection. It is served with their house corn rice and sautéed vegetables. If you want a delicious meal I highly recommend Luna Cafe & Bistro.

The ambiance is boho-chic and beautifully designed, with gorgeous hanging pothos plants throughout the room. It's small and intimate, and my husband and I love the music they play--perfectly balanced in style and volume. We especially appreciate that there are no televisions glaring at us! It creates such a relaxing atmosphere for enjoying a great meal. We always have a wonderful time at Luna Cafe and Bistro. The waitstaff is consistently friendly and eager to please, with everyone offering great recommendations. The food is always delicious. I usually order the enchiladas, but tonight I couldn't resist sampling several bites of my husband's fish--it was absolutely amazing! The only suggestion I'd have for Luna would be to improve their dessert offerings. I'd love to see something as unique and thoughtfully crafted as their other dishes.

Modern decor with upscale seating, music, and a full service bar. Well played service staff with creative menu options and a delicious meal. Ordered: Pollo Luna, a delicious combination of chicken breast (seasoned, crispy, and tender) mushroom, small potatoes, asparagus slathered in a homemade sauce. Both friends chose the Smash burger and fries. Everyone enjoyed the meal!

First time trying this newish place. We were very glad we stopped by. The service was very friendly and very helpful. We ordered the Ceviche to start, and it was very unique. More chili forward and more umami than I'd ever had before. My husband could not get enough of the ceviche! He's still talking about it, hours later.I chose the Pollo Luna dish, and it was really good. Paired with potatoes and asparagus. That asparagus... It was the best I've had. My husband had the same side dishes, but he ordered the strip steak. It was a little salty, but he still liked it . The side of chimichurri was more like a salsa verde rhan chimichurri. Not enough vinegar and brightness. Still tasty, but not chimichurri.I will definitely go back. I will definitely recommend it to you.

I was here rather early, so it wasn't very busy. I was greeted immediately and seated right away. The space is really beautiful and comfortable. Easy place to hang out in. Nice bar area and I love the decor and seating. I ordered a Lunarita in Mango, because it had been a day. It was really refreshing. For dinner I started with the Pollo Luna, which is chicken breasts in a mushroom cream sauce, which was a bit saltier than like, though the ly give you half a charred lemon, which I squeezed over the chicken, asparagus and potatoes. It made all the difference. It was an enjoyable experience.

Generously portioned with large shrimp and mussels, the dish combines freshness and richness in every bite. If you're craving a classic, the Smash Burger does not disappoint. It's elevated with crispy onions, a delicious aioli, and the same addictive fries that perfectly complement the meal. Absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent! We were driving through Bakersfield and looking for a lunch spot that wasn't a chain or fast food. Came across Luna and decided to try it. So glad we did! We had the ceviche, the fish fillet, and the shrimp sandwich. All were fresh, well-seasoned and well-prepared. I know they're relatively new so I wish them well. If they keep with the same food and service quality they should continue to find success :)

Overall good experience. Our server, Lawrence, was very attentive and we were satisfied with their recommendations they provided. Food was exactly what I was expecting. Pricer for Mexican food, but I would say you are also paying for the ambience of the place. I was happy with the enchiladas and beer. I'd come back next time I'm in town.
