A very nice road trip stop in the middle of Lone Pine, California on highway 395. They are open 7 days a week and there is plenty of street parking in front and on the side streets. The ladies are always friendly and very efficient. The bistro offers everything you can find at a coffee house. Almond and oat are their two nondairy choices. They even have Affogato on the menu. They have a short list of breakfast sandwich type choices, bagels, biscuits and gravy, as well as deli sandwiches freshly made to order. The counter has a great assortment of baked goods and there is an ice cream counter that opens at 10:30 am. This quaint bistro is very busy so please do not be in a hurry. Their popularity keeps them busy. There are clean restrooms and the back of the store is a gift shop as well. You will find many different sundries offered such as candy, snack foods, jarred pickled items, etc. I saw a few people working on laptops so I assume they have WiFi. There are tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your food and beverages. If you are traveling through Lone Pine be sure to give them a try.

This not so hidden gem is located right on the main drag of town. The menu is written in chalk board and service area can be a little small. The food was a huge let down for me. Bread was cold and stale. Chili cheese was also not warm.

What a cute and friendly little cafe and gift shop! We popped in here for lunch and a milkshake before our long drive home from Bishop to Los Angeles. John Wayne adorns the walls, and staff is cheerful and personable. I had a roast beef and swiss sandwich, hubby had a chili dog, and we shared a chocolate shake. The sides were particularly delicious: house made pasta salad and potato salads that really sang. This is my second time stopping here on my way home from the Eastern Sierra, and I look forward to seeing Lone Star Bistro again down the road.

This small, cute, cafe has a simple but solid menu. You start by marking on a paper what exactly you want. There are sandwiches you can choose from or you can design your own. You can also make any sandwich into a salad. I opted for the Lone Pine Charmer: turkey, provolone, bacon, tomato, red onion, cucumber, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, avocado, artichoke pesto, on wheat bread. This sandwich was large and can easily be shared. My friend chose the same sandwich but as a salad and that too was big and filling. The cafe also has a cute store in the back where you can buy souvenirs, shirts, magnets, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful and there is plenty of street parking. Definitely a great options when visiting or traveling through Lone Pine

Good coffee! This is my new stop for caffeine when on the 395 from LA to Reno. Barista is chatty and friendly and pleasant. Seems like a spot that would have really good sandwiches but I haven't tried one yet. Yet.

During our trip along US-395, I wanted to picnic at Alabama Hills. I saw that Lone Star Bistro offered sandwiches. I do love me a good sandwich, especially from a local bistro. This place is easily accessible and right along Main St. Before I proceed: do note that their deli opens at 10:30 am. We got there at 10 am and they were still serving breakfast items, and we specifically wanted sandwiches. You can put your order in beforehand with their sandwich ordering form, but they will not start making their sandwiches until 10:30 on the dot. The interior of Lone Star Bistro is very cute, with plenty of souvenirs to browse and purchase. We got a magnet to commemorate our visit to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. I ordered the Lone Pine Charmer, which is one of their signature sandwiches, while my husband ordered the Hwy 395. Both of us got sourdough, but they also have other breads to choose from. We were not in the mood for coffee but it looked good. I'd like to try it next time we visit Lone Pine. We were the first to place our sandwich orders, so they were ready just past 10:30 am. It was a warm day, so I wanted to make it to Alabama Hills before it got warmer. Upon finding a secluded shady location to enjoy our brunch, we were happy to find that our sandwiches were portioned nicely. All the ingredients were deliciously refreshing. The artichoke pesto on my Lone Pine Charmer was delightful, and the bacon was sooo crispy. I love sprouts and I was very pleased that there were plenty stuffed in my sandwich. My husband loved the pastrami on his Hwy 395. I got to try a morsel and I'd agree with him. For the only dedicated sandwich shop in Lone Pine, this place is awesome. The prices were affordable and the kitchen staff were friendly. I would totally support Lone Star Bistro again (and try their coffee) the next time we are in the area.

Stopped by here on the way back from Mammoth and tried out two of their sandwiches + the strawberry banana smoothie. The sandwiches are pretty average- they just put the ingredients together into the bread. Nothing special here- the bread wasn't toasted either, so it felt like I could've just made this myself at home. The smoothie was refreshing though! And the service was pretty fast. They serve other things like coffee, some jerky, and snacks. It's a cute little store, with an outside patio which was nice because I could bring my dog back there.

Had lunch at this great spot in Lone Pine after playing in the Alabama Hills in the morning and perusing the local shops in the afternoon (this place also has a little shopping as well). Stopped in for sandwiches but ended up splitting a sandwich and getting chili cheese nachos since the warm chili sounded good on a windy December day. They also have beers on tap! We finished our meal with a snickerdoodle cookie that I've been craving ever since. Simple and classic deliciousness.
