Liberty Park, on the Southeast corner of Brimhall and Jewetta, can be reached off of either street as there are two different parking lots serving the one location. They are probably not both needed every day, but they are important to accommodate special occasions and events sponsored by NOR recreation & parks which administers and maintains this park. I was here one evening last summer with friends to hear a local band play. We all brought lawn chairs and blankets and had a lovely evening listening to music and people watching. Both parking lots were pretty full that evening. On an average afternoon like today, there were families with young children enjoying the large playground equipment structures, teenagers walking their dogs, a couple of young men playing one on one basketball on the courts, and several men setting up for some unknown sport which involved the placement of many red flags on the large field just South of the picnic area. I enjoyed my picnic under the shade structure which held a large number of picnic tables with conveniently located barbecue grills. It can be reserved for a fee by contacted NOR directly qt 392-2010. The picnic shelter has a capacity of 80 people and can be reserved for a fee of $15 per hour with a 3 hour minimum reservation. You will also need to fill out an application which can be downloaded here http://norfun.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/FR-100-Use-of-Facility-Online-Packet.pdfThere are several other individual picnic tables scattered about in the grassy area with a grill next to each one.The park sprawls across 21.3 acres. There are two very large grassy areas, one to the North and one to the South of the playground equipment. There are clean public restrooms, all of which are individual rooms that can be locked from the inside and were well stocked with toilet paper.I didn't give it five stars because the grass is not as lush, green, and well watered as most of the other parks in Bakersfield.

This is my regular park. We live very close by. Ok so this park is well kept up and spacious. Usually not to busy. Unless!!!!!!! You go on a soccer day OMG a swarm of unsupervised kids way to big to be on the playground. This is a nightmare time if you have a little one who bound to get knocked down.

Good to let my dog sniff around. Bad because you don't want to go at night. Hoodlums lurk here. You might get shanked.I don't believe in sarcasm.I'm partially serious.ps. the grass is pretty dead already, but it always seems to be that way. fair bit of stickers in the grass. :(

A fabulous park in Bake town. I don't want to tell people about it since it's perfect for soccer games, and walking dogs. There is a playground for kids and their families as well. Picnic benches and BBQ pits available too. It's located right across Liberty High School, and plenty of parking all around.

This park is walking distance from my house, which is very convenient. It is great for walks and is lit with lights at night. I like to utilize the basketball courts and shoot some hoops. A few times I've seen this park taken over with school functions and soccer tournaments and peewee football practice. It has soccer fields, play area for the kids, basketball courts, bathrooms and lots of green grass along with cement parking. An enjoyable place for a nice stroll!

We head to this park often since it is not far from my mom's house. The kids enjoy playing on the equipment and running around. There are two sets of play equipment; one for the younger kids and one for thd older. They also have several clean restrooms right next to the equipment which is convenient. They also have a covered area with tables and stuff if you want to have a party. The two large green areas are nice, but are often used by sports teams. They have several basketball courts that are nice to play on. The only bad thing I noticed was that the benches around the play area aren't covered by any shade. This makes a bigger difference as the weather starts to warm up. The parking lot on Jewetta is a little awkward as well. There is only one enterance even though it seems like there should be another. Overall, it's a nice clean park that thd kids enjoy playing at.

One of our favorites - there never seems to be a crowd in the afternoons and they have a great variety of clean playground toys.
