Kyoto Japanese Grill

Went here for the first time today and it was great. Huge portion. The chicken and steak were good quality. The included sauces were also good: some kind of hot mustard and ginger sauce. My only wish is that they gave more vegetables than rice.

One of my favorite places in town for sushi. They have a great fried rice and an awesome katsu. Been here for a dinner date a couple times and even brought the whole family. It's a small, quaint, spotless, family owned place but you're definitely getting a homemade lunch or dinner selection off their menu. Everything is made in house. It's fresh, so it's not fast but not saying it's slow either. Every time we've been here it's reasonably priced with a little wait. Excellent food options and I feel it's one of the different sushi spots in town. A much larger roll but super fresh and super delicious. If you want fresh Japanese style food, this place destroys the Panda next door for sure.

Food came out quickly, and the service was friendly. The whole establishment was clean, and it seemed like a comfortable place to eat in (though we ordered to go). We ordered a hibachi shrimp (with fried rice and veggies) and hibachi steak (with white rice and veggies). The fried rice was a little salty, so next time we'll def order the white rice for both. The dishes came with two sauces (the dark sauce was my favorite!). Overall, pretty pleased with the meal. A good portion size. We'll likely be back.

The food was great here have nothing but great things to say about the food. The ambience was clean, quiet and nice. The restroom was perfectly clean, but I didn't give a five stars because the service was just service. The older owner who owns it at the cash register was a bit uneasy or disgruntled looking as I open the door to leave and how that open for my colleague he scolded me and told me to close his door keep in mind. It wasn't a windy day or anything. It was just a bit cold. Definitely need to work on your customer service. Not welcoming at all.

I was spending almost $200 for teppanyaki at a local restaurant before I came across Kyoto. The food tastes better, it's cleaner & a lot more affordable. The owners are super friendly & welcoming. They gave my daughter a free miso to try. Highly recommend!

This is a good option for take out teppanyki. Call in to make your order for faster service; or you can walk in and order, you will just have to wait approx 15-20 minutes. We ordered the California roll for our sushi- fresh and good size; approx 6 pieces. For our entree we ordered the steak and shrimp; steak is very tender . Plenty of rice; rice overload. Grilled vegetables; zucchini and broccoli. I think there was only one or two pieces of broccoli. Would have been nice to get a few more pieces of broccoli. This is enough for two people . They give you two sauces ; one sauce is a little grainy and had wasabi in it. The other sauce was sweeter . They have a few tables inside to sit at; however it's more like a take out spot.

Crave the food, but don't really need the show. This place was great. Didn't need to wait too long. Very convient to get your fix.

The tastes of Benihana or Shogun, but fast casual for a quick to go meal! Kyoto is delicious! We were originally going to grab Panda Express next door, but decided to give Kyoto a try. Their menu is simple. Either choose from their hibachi bowls which include fried rice and veggies with your choice or protein or get a sushi roll. I got the chicken and shrimp. It was delicious! The portion was huge and the food was so full of great flavor. Because the food was freshly cooked on the grill, it had nice char and crisp to the edges. It was so good. They also include your traditional teppan sauces (one ginger and one sesame). This will definitely be added to my list as one of Bakersfield's bests!

Perfect take out for a Saturday night! Katsu Chicken, NY steak & chicken combo and an extra side of chicken and steak! Fresh and always on point!

I've had food here several times now this place definitely deserves 5 stars; however, they are inconsistent. I've gotten food twice now when it was super duper salty and hard to eat, so not sure what happened. Other than those 2 times, Kyoto has been really good. I recommend this place.If you order over the phone or online then you won't have to wait too long. It's a fast food version of teppanyaki, but you can tell it tastes fresh and you can see them preparing your food in the back if you order at the restaurant. They also have sushi here too, it's pretty good sushi. I would get it again for sure.Anytime I have visited, they weren't busy. People come and go, but there's never a huge wait time or line. The restaurant looks clean and there's a good amount of parking. You guys need to try it if you haven't tried it.
