One of the few U-Pick apple orchards remaining in Tehachapi. Knaus Ranch brings back wonderful childhood memories of pick-your-own farms that dotted Kern County.Farm fresh apples are a treat. Don't expect those glossy grocery store apples here. But do expect superb flavor and juicy ripe apples! Do yourself a favor and buy a bag of the ugly ones (if they have them!). These are perfect for making apple-sauce, juicing, and pretty much anything that involves cooking! Depending on the season you may want to bring a light sweater. Tehachapi is the land of four seasons (in one day!) for a reason!Cash only. No facilities. No Pets.

This is a tiny little family owned place where you can go pick apples. It is not huge, and you will not spend all day here, but if really all you want to do is go pick apples, this is a great place. There is no charge for entry to their orchard, but there is a 10 pound minimum. Bring cash. We actually found it hard to pick 10 pounds of apples. That's a lot of apples. We were surprised at how many it is. So be sure you have a lot of ideas of what to do with them (or a large group to share them). The family who runs the ranch is very nice. When we lived up in the Bay Area, we tried hard to find somewhere to pick apples, but despite the fact that Sebastapol is full of apples, there was no where to pick them. Tehachapi is only about an hour and a half from the LA area, which is much closer than Oak Glen (the only other so cal place to pick apples).

Fantastic experience here. Really close to downtown and so much fun. The owners are really welcoming and the apples are small and like their name delicious! You pay per pound and it's a bargain. There are also amazing cakes and pies and jams and lots of other cute things for sale. There were no crowds, great weather and plenty of trees full of pickins'...best apple picking ever...forget Julian and Oak Glen...head to Tehachapi!

Came here with several friends last year. We loved it!! Their apples are delicious and the small gift shop had several things to choose from. We all bought several things plus lots of delicious apples! Can't wait to go again this weekend!

For apples this place is great. However, don't believe that just because you're buying at a "Ranch" that you're getting natural healthy ingredients. The apricot butter my family recently bought from there has "corn syrup" and "high fructose corn syrup" as prominent ingredients and the only sweeteners used in the jam. Wish I could just return the stuff but it's an hour's drive away.
