Kern River Transitional Care

Exceptional and quality care was given to my father who was there to receive rehab for strengthening and endurance. Despite my father being a bit non-compliant with recommendations, the nursing and PT/OT staff were supportive and accommodating of his challenging behavior. The facility itself is like the Ritz Carlton of nursing home/rehab centers in Bakersfield.

Terrible communication with the administration. Nothing gets done that the patient or their advocate requests. Must have an advocate if going to this place.One nurse and some nurses aides were very helpful. Good luck ever seeing a doctor.

Very good care! All employees are kind and hard working! Moms been their 6 weeks and making improvements until she caught this cough/ flu todayShe's 85 n praying she pulls thru this like she has last 3 years!! Great team of nurses and quality care

This review is incredibly personal, but I hope it can help at least one other person.My father had been battling Alzheimer's for the last few years. He started steeply declining in June and was in and out of the hospital. Kern River Transitional was fantastic in his final days of care and a much better alternative than a noisy hospital.The facility was superbly clean. It also always smelled clean, but not that chemically clean smell. It's hard to describe, but you'll know what I mean if you've been in similar care centers. The facility had tons of natural light and small courtyards everywhere. It had a great indoor/outdoor feel. There was even a tiny veggie garden.All the staff at Kern River were pleasant and helpful. They didn't even bat an eye when we stayed late after visiting hours. Without a doubt, I'd recommend Kern River Transitional Care for whatever care you or your loved one needs.

Beware ! Dont pay attention to these good reviews! Do not use this facility if you care about your family member! My brother-in-law was just released in the last 4 months after suffering from a stroke! Because of these high ratings my sister chose this facility! Major Mistake! Not only did he not receive proper care! No Onsite visiting physician to keep family informed and therapy was sporadic or nonexistent! They kept calling my sister to tell her that they were going to send him home before he had recoverd enough to do simple tasks! He wasn't capable of making decisions for himself at this time and the staff kept pressuring him to sign papers he didn't understand stating that if his insurance didn't pay he would be responsible for entire cost! They put my sister through Hell! This place is a nightmare! After a lot of bad communication and lack of empathy he finally came home and my sister is struggling to do the therapy at home that should have been done there! Now they are billing her for $$$$$$ that should be covered by Medicare and his Insurance! These bills itemize nothing and the insurance company claims they haven't even been billed! This facility should be investigated for insurance fraud and taking advantage of people who can't defend themselves or make decisions for themselves! Please don't put anyone you love in this facility ! Please pray for my brother in-law! As a important side note the neighbors down the street told my sister that they send people here to die! Because that's what happened to their family member!

They are taking wonderful care of my mother who had a stroke. Everyone is super nice here. Great food. Very clean and cheerful environment.

Kern River is incredible -- definitely a home away from home! We are delighted we chose this facility after much research to find just the right place for our beloved brother Edward who was accustomed to only the best. Ed had a stroke & lost use of his limbs. KRTC's quality care has made a great difference for Ed as well as for our family. We are pleased that he receives compassionate care and attention daily. KRTC's physical, occupational, and speech therapy are exceptional. The staff is remarkable and make their patients feel important & valued. KRTC regularly gives thorough care conferences with the family and are willing to make any adjustments and respond to family concerns. We could not ask for better!The facility is absolutely beautiful and modern. Among the things I like best is their indoor therapy garden that allows patients to nurture and care for the plants... possibly something they may have done at their own homes. The indoor atrium is so beautiful that I have since emulated it at my own home. In conclusion, KRTC is the best care facility ever! You will not be disappointed. The worst place ever. Therapy horrible this place is horrible. They don't feed my uncle and he was feeding assist.
