Disappointing First Visit to Kamisama on Olive DriveI was really looking forward to trying Kamisama for the first time, but unfortunately, my experience at the Olive Drive location was far from impressive.Let start with how empty the establishment was when I walked in. I've never been to a restaurant where I am the only one in it while I ate. I guess that's good if you're a person who lives a solitary life. Very quiet. I started with the Spicy Beef Rice Noodle Ramen, which sounded great on the menu--except it was completely misleading. Instead of beef, the bowl contained three different kinds of pork. As someone who doesn't eat pork, this was extremely disappointing and felt like false advertising. If a dish is labeled as beef, it should contain beef, or at the very least, indicate that pork is included. To make things worse, the meat was raw and not fully cooked. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they told me that the meat "should've been cooked by the hot water in the soup." That response made me so uncomfortable that I had the dish returned.Hoping for a better experience, I decided to try the regular Tonkotsu Ramen. Let's just say--I've had much better. The meat was dry and overcooked, the nori was different from what I'm used to, and the boiled egg was overcooked as well. I had asked for the broth to be spicy, and while it did have spice, it wasn't enough to save the dish.Apparently, there are two Kamisama locations--one on Olive Drive (where I went) and another on Calloway Drive. From what I understand, the Olive Drive location is newer (the waiter mentioned it's been open for about 3-5 months). Maybe that's why the quality wasn't great, but I won't be rushing back to give it another try. If I ever do, it'll be at the Calloway location to see if there's a difference.Overall, this visit was disappointing, and I can't recommend the Olive Drive location based on my experience.

I went on a Saturday night and it was empty I was expecting a little bit more movement but not very quiet. So we been sitting immediately at our arrival. The server was friendly and quick took our order very fast. We order some edamame for appetizer and the ramen was good the broth was fine. I add some corn and egg but I was kinda disappointed with the egg because it was a regular boiled egg not the way I'm used to eat in ramen. The avocado cucumber suchi it was actually good. And the yakisoba very tasteful so the food it was good. Place was simple quiet but look clean. Price was really reasonable.

First time trying this place. The garlic rice was amazing. 10/10. The ramen, was a whole different story. I did not care for it. It grossed me out and I couldn't eat more than 4 bites. Very disappointing. Glad I finally tried this place but probably won't be back.

Came in regardless of the reviews to try. Soon as I walked in, it was empty. Now I know why. The worst ramen I've ever had. I am not joking when I say this. The noodles were tough, the broth was salty. The add on pork tonkotsu was tough and chewy, I couldnt even bite it. Worse...a weird aftertaste after eating. Honestly, this place is simply taking up room another business should have. The ambiance was dead. I will never come back.

A surprise find on a rainy, cold day! Perfect ramen bowl for much less than other competitor restaurant prices. The pork chasui was tender, the broth had depth, I added corn, boiled egg and kamaboko to the regular base items of bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and green onions, noodles were cooked perfectly and had the right "chew" factor. I wish they had powdered tongarashi (spicy chili powder) available, but their red chili sauce wasn't bad to spice things up. Contrary to the other reviews, we had a good, courteous server who showed us to a table and promptly took our order. Restaurant, although smaller in size, was clean and bright. A Starbucks Cafe is directly adjacent to the restaurant-- a convenient location for a post meal coffee! We'll be returning back to try other menu items!

Restaurant was empty last night when we arrived. Sat ourselves. Waitress came around and asked how she can help us and we said we'd like to eat dinner. She seemed like she was in a hurry. She seemed so rush that I checked the closing time, thinking maybe we got there right before closing. They didn't close for over another hour so that was not the reason. The restaurant was also freezing!!! It was close to temperatures outside. Anyway, we ordered. Food was delicious as always. Hot and full of flavor. We get the Pork Tonkotsu ramen with chicken , Egg and garlic. This time we also got the Gyoza. It was fresh and delicious!!Great food!! But staff could be friendlier. Remember, you wouldn't have a business without customers. I'm giving 3 stars because of service but food is a 5!

I would give them a 5 based on service alone, and a 3 for the food. So I averaged my review, but there were a few issues with what they are serving now, compared to what they used to offer. On the Ramen scale in Bakersfield, I would say Kamisama has become the least authentic. While the flavor is still good enough, they have washed away the iconic things that make Ramen and Ramen houses so good. The quality has diminished, but the singular front of house staff was kind.I went at 1230 on a Monday, no other customers were in the dining area, and no one else came in while I was there. Food: For $10 I ordered the Tonkotsu and added (for an additional cost) Tempura shrimp and a boiled egg. (Final cost around $15) It already comes with 2 slices of Char-siu Pork, Bean sprouts, and Bamboo shoots. The broth was lacking some flavor and tastes like it was made from a base, and not from scratch as before. The Tempura shrimp was dipped all the way into my broth, which made them soggy, and it had a freezer burned quality to it. They do not offer a soft boiled egg option; It's hard boiled only. Finally, I asked for hot sauce and the server brought me Sriracha. I followed up and asked for chili oil, which used to be on the tables with other condiments, to which she replied they don't have. There's no spicy options, and there's no upping your heat level. The only other condiment was soy sauce. Service: Zero complaints. She was So kind and so friendly. She brought everything quickly and I could see her checking my table with a glance frequently.I really hope they can up their game in regards to the quality of the ramen. Compared to the other Ramen options in town, but if you like a mellow vibe, and basic Ramen, give them a shot.
