Kalbi King Korean BBQ & Sushi

Great service, excellent selection of meats and the sides are always fresh! This is by far the best KBBQ in bako!

Had a great time grilling our own food at our table. We started off with the seafood pancake, which was delicious! Then we ordered the Special combo #1 and it was more than enough food for two people. It included the salad, 3 meats (prime ribeye steak, sliced beef belly, and thinly sliced pork belly), along with white rice, and a few pickled sides. We also added the egg casserole and kimchee stew. Overall, our food was great and so was the service. The only thing that bothered us is that there was a lot of smoke once we started cooking the meats (they forgot to turn the fan on), but it went away once we asked them to turn on the fan.

Korean bbq is hard to come by on this side of California. With that in mind, I do think Kalbi King is the best Korean bbq in Kern County. Although it isn't all you can eat, the meat quality is unmatched. If you're really craving kbbq in the moment and can't possibly drive down south to meet your craving, make sure you check this place out! I've come here as well for a simple lunch with bulgogi and sushi. Nothing super crazy to rave about, but still pretty good! Staff is super attentive, you got kpop constantly playing for the vibe, and the banchan (side dishes) come nonstop! Be glad if you get Josh as your server. That guy knows how to have fun and make sure dinner is memorable. Stop by for some melona at the front desk at the end of your meal!

Took my gf here for her birthday what a disappointment. The beef was just ok the pork not so much the shrimp is not deveined or very fresh. The sides are horrible in my opinion no taste poor quality and past there prime lying around :(and the wort part is was $35 a person I would of been equally disappointed if it was $12 a person I wish we had gone any place but here including McDonald's.

The food is pretty good, service is decent, our server was kind. What we did not appreciate was the yelling in the back kitchen that was happening when we arrived. It seems the bosses are a bit, rude, too staff. The front area was empty, we waited a while to be seated, the lady at the front ignored us, it was a waiter that took our name. Front area was disorganized, for some reason there's a lot of bottles empty? In the past, we have been here a couple of times, I do feel like we are liking it less. I have taken people here for their birthday, they don't even give courtesy desert as most restaurants do. We have also experienced managers going to our table multiple times to look at the portions we are being served of meat, to a waitress being followed by one of them.It feels as if the working conditions of employees may not be the kindest. Will likely not come back because we like to go out to enjoy and hang with family and friends, not to hear others get yelled at by a boss.

Food was great for price. Service was very good. Ambiance made me feel like I was back in Korea.

Horrible service. Absolutely horrible waitresses were yelling at each other and arguing in front of the whole restaurant. Waitress didn't come back once to refill drinks. Didn't have clean tongs for both people to use. They were out of everything, soda machine was flat waited an hour for absolutely horrible service. The waitress only had about 2-3 tables and he never came back once to see if we needed anything

Went here for the first time with my husband and ordered the Combination 1 (serves 2 people). You can choose which meat you'd like from the list. We chose the premium pork belly, sliced beef belly, and marinated boneless short rib (pictured in the middle, then top of the photo). The meat was pretty good. The best one was the marinated boneless short rib. However, The side dishes tasted old and mushy, especially the kimchi (pictured next to the broccoli). The shredded radish (red), pickled radish (pink), and sliced potatoes were good though. The Combination 1 also came with kimchi stew. The kimchi in this also tasted old and the stew itself tasted watered down.If you're coming here for the service don't expect them to be super happy. They were definitely polite and made sure if we needed anything though. Nobody was rude. We got everything we ordered. No mistakes. The server made sure to check if our grill needed to be changed anytime he walked by. The staff said goodbye and thank you when we were done eating. I think most of the staff are reserved and seem really tired.Bakersfield does not have a lot of Korean BBQ restaurants. If I'm really craving KBBQ and don't want to drive to Los Angeles I'd come back here.

We always get a K-BBQ combo and it never disappoints. Meat is always 10/10 and the banchan sides go great no matter how you pair them. The place feels a bit empty or maybe it just needs some TLC but overall it's clean. Service is decent for the most part, sometimes it feels like they prioritize the customers that are dressed nicer. It's a bit pricey but makes for a nice treat. Always recommend.
