Nice rocky hike next to beautiful Kern River. We went in about 1.5 miles and then back out because we had our 2 kids (age 8 and 5) with us and they had pretty much reached their limit for the day. We'll definitely do it again

Did this trail today - just me and the dog. If you don't have All Trails app take a photo of the map at the base of the stairs. As you're walking along, it's somewhat challenging to figure out where you are along the hike, but keep going - the scenery is spectacular. There are some small beaches to hang out around mile 2-3. I saw very few people along the way. Note: I did have my first ever encounter with a stinging nettle plant. Keep an eye out for those. I would recommend this trail for hike loving folks and solo hiking women like me. *Bring plenty of water.

Awesome place for hiking, camping and fishing. Located about 19 miles north of Kernville. There might be limited parking space at times. After parking in the parking lot, you walk across a man bridge heading towards the yellow stairs that will take you down towards the river. I would NOT recommend this trails for young kids. If you lose your footing, you can fall several feet to rocks below and then into the river. The trail itself is very nice, however some areas are tough and you have to climb over a few rocks. There are a few really awesome camp sites along the river trail, looks like first come first serve. After hiking about 2 miles, you come to the Seven Teacups (waterfall) This trail is always awesome to me, can't wait to come back.

I live here in Bakersfield for almost two years the fishing sucks even way up here in the kern river I fished all the way up from the bridge all the way down from the river no fish I used flies and everything else and nothing. but the scenery is beautiful and dangerous at the same time really rocky if you want to catch fish try the kings river and upper kings there's lots of life in that river and wild life everywhere all year round up there take the 99 hwy to the 180 hwy it's a drive but worth it
