If you want old fashioned, homestyle barbecue just a little off the freeway where the owner himself walks around and talks to the customers, this is your place. The tri-tip and pork ribs were smoky, with just the right amount of barbecue sauce. Potato salad is probably like your mom made, and the baked beans are both sweet and spicy, with a bit more kick than you realize until after you finish the bite. The ambiance is old school, with a pool table and Harley banner, and you have to go outside to the bathrooms. They're dated and a bit worn, but the women's smelled like bleach and was obviously being kept clean.Hungry Al enjoys talking with the customers, and other staff was friendly and efficient. This is not fast food priced, but it's reasonable for barbecue. Check it out if you're in town or on the way over the mountains between LA and the central valley on I-5.

If you have been reading my reviews, especially when it comes to brisket you know where my heart is. I was traveling and looked for restaurants in the area. I saw this BBQ come up and had to try it out.I ordered the brisket and pork ribs to go. The brisket was very tender but why do you add BBQ sauce to it? The smoked flavor should sell it. That sauce takes away the flavor.Disappointed. Don't add the sauce. The pork ribs were tough. This place is new and hopefully changes how they do BBQ.I must add the staff gets 5 Stars! Great customer service.

Had a lovely experience at this local bbq spot. Service was great and they were very accommodating of our two young kids. Highly recommend the ribs they were superb. Our kids enjoyed all the sides. Beer is $5 and they are dog friendly!

We were passing through from Los Angeles to Sacramento and spotted Hungry Al's BBQ - what a gem! We ordered the half chicken, brisket, and hot links with sides, and every bite was incredible. The meat was deliciously smoky and perfectly flavored. The sauce was awesome, complementing the meat beautifully. The mac & cheese was definitely homemade - you could tell from the first bite. The service was cool and efficient, making the experience even better. The owner personally greets patrons while you wait and even while you eat, which adds a nice personal touch. If you're a barbecue fan traveling down the I-5, make sure to stop at Hungry Al's BBQ. You won't be disappointed! Its inside deco is a big rig, fully equipped with tires and a bar. Nice vibe!

I was really hoping to like this place. I was looking for a place to eat on my way home from a road trip. I decided to stop here and try it. We got some sandwiches and sides. The Mac n cheese was very different and had a lot of pepper in it. It was not very cheesy and it was weird. The tri tip tasted good but the bread looked like a cold hot dog bun so I really did not like the bun at all. I did like the meat though. The bbq sauce was also interesting.

STOP HERE!! This place is just off the 5, and a perfect stop for a quick bite on your trip. The barbecue was fresh, tasty, not fatty, and so moist! The staff is so nice and provide great service, and it's a welcoming space. There is indoor with TVs to watch a game and outdoor seating to enjoy fresh air. Another pro is that their bathrooms are VERY clean and a great alternative to a gas station bathroom on the road. Come check them out and tell your friends!

Delicious bbq. We had tritip and pork ribs. Really enjoyed it. The sides are very good too. I'd love to come her again soon I wish they had some lower fat options. They have chicken but it's the leg and thighs not breast. So fat is an issue as always with bbq. Service was great. They didn't have a menu to take with me. The hours are 12-8 daily

Let the record show that our dining experience was great at this local smokehouse. From the exterior it looks like they can get quite a crowd in but have plenty of seating areas and multiple smokers. This was a quiet evening in the off season and we were welcomed by warm and friendly staff. Our food came quickly and was delicious! The hot links were a bit spicy (good!) and the bbq sauce sweet and smokey. The brisket was tender, juicy and had a hint of pepper. It too was slathered in that yummy bbq sauce. The bread was wonderful, not too dense but soft and the right counterpoint to the meat & sauce. Our sides were baked beans (yum!) and Cole slaw which was made on sight. If you love bbq, check this place out. Taking a break from the Grapevine and enjoying good food makes the trip more pleasant.

Awesome food. The brisket was fabulous. The sides of coleslaw and beans the best I've ever had. Do not miss this place when you're traveling the 5. A real gem.
