Highland Donuts

One of my goals for 2022 was to finish trying all the traditional donut shops in Bakersfield, CA. Highland Donut located in the northeast area of town was one of the two I had yet to visit. Recently, I had the opportunity to drop by. Was expecting to be greeted by terrible customer service since that is what I had read on most of their latest Yelp reviews. To my surprise, I was greeted with a warm smile and hello from the girl at the counter when I walked in. There were already a few people ahead of me, but she still made the time to greet me. 5 stars for customer service!The shop is larger than the normal mom and pop donut shop. Several tables available to sit at and enjoy your sweets. The shop was also super clean. Large variety of donuts to choose from. They do not have just the traditional type donuts. Made it a bit confusing to choose because they had all kinds I wanted to try. Guess, I will have to return to try everything else I wanted. What I did eat was yummy. Boston Crème was very good. First time I tried a Maple Custard filled donut cause I had never seen one before. It was delicious too.Overall, I was very pleased with this initial experience at Highland Donut. Prices were very affordable too. Quite nice especially considering how expensive everything has been getting. I will be returning.

The ham and cheese croissant is a great quick breakfast you can pick up on the way to work. The coffee is self-serve and is good, but may sometimes run out quickly. Anytime after 7:30 on the weekdays, it may be have longer lines. This shop is clean.

dis shit.. dat croissant.. messy but im not scared to get my hands DIRTY ;)) scrumptious.. MMMMMM ... immaculate.. perfection with the CWEAM CHEESE on thAT toasty ass bagel... dont even get me started on that coffee... screaming with the s .. and beautiful customer service MWAH I love my gals in there ‍‍

Disappointing. We heard great things about this place, but it's just a typical donut shop.

I used to love this place. I was there when they opened the doors when they first opened. I should have known better because even then they didn't have it together. I kept going though because the doughnuts were light and the short Hispanic woman that's always there is a beast. This being said I will never return after the service I got today. Let's start with the declining in person service. The more people they hired the worse service got. They would stack doughnuts on top of each other and would end up in a huge mess. I would get breakfast sandwiches and the sausage would still be cold. They were always very helpful in fixing issues. Not anymore. My family members moved away so I stopped going in store as much. I've ordered from door dash almost every Friday until they literally gave me a dozen of maple and chocolate buttermilk bars that we did not order at all and they did not send my breakfast sandwich. I had to reorder and waste more money on tip and taxes. I gave them another chance because they were very apologetic. I ordered again today half a dozen doughnuts (1 maple with crumb bar, 2 glazed twist, 1 chocolate cake, 1 maple round, 1 cinnamon roll). I ended up with a full dozen of random doughnuts and a note that said no cinnamon roll. So you just give me double the doughnuts and random stuff?!? Then they forgot my sandwich again. I called the store to see what happened and I'm explaining my experience. It was a woman who answered at 7:26 AM. She first tells me no sandwiches had been made and then starts laughing at me as I'm explaining the situation. She said just come pick it up. Come pick it up?!? I ordered it for delivery for a reason I'm at work. Then I explain that if I reorder then now I'm out the additional money for tip,taxes, and delivery. She said then come pick up your refund?!? Like what this can't be serious??? I asked for a manager or someone in charge and she says no call tomorrow. This is ridiculous. I drive all the way from Garces to get stuff from here. That won't be happening anymore and I will be spreading the word.

Good donuts. Super clean. We've always loved it but The owner's niece isn't friendly so the last few times I've wondered if I should go elsewhere

First time customer walked in place was clean. Few tables to sit and enjoy coffee and a dounut . Lady at the counter was nice .l will definitely be back.

1. Flies in the donut case. Not one multiple. 2. Workers seem to be upset when you walk in. 3. Did I mention there are flies in the donut case.

I've been here maybe 5 times thinking the attitude of the staff would be better. They are rude. You walk up and they give you this impatient look. No smile, no warmth whatsoever unless it's coming from your warmed bagel. This past weekend was the last straw. I use to go to College and Coffee donuts but it was a little far down the road. I don't care if Highland is around the corner, I'd rather waste the gas and go to a place where they actually appreciate your business. I work in retail and it's not hard to smile and be nice. I don't care how hard of a worker those girls are, their attitudes surpass that!

First time here, it's mother day so we stopped for some donuts, the lady that helped us was rude and impatient. There was no one behind us either. Donuts were okay 2/5 there wasn't much to choose from. Definitely won't be back here.
