Heart Of India Bar & Restaurant

Today I tried Heart Of India and I had a pleasant experience. I came in during lunchtime and was quickly seated . As I waiting for my friend I observed the decor. The restaurant is dimly lit creating a cozy intimate feel . The mural on the wall matches the theme of the restaurant and is quite beautiful .The restaurant was setup for buffet and offered a nice selection of popular dishes . I sampled most of them. My favorites of course were the butter chicken and the green curry. We even got the garlic naan ,and for dessert Gulab jamun. Everything was fresh and tasty especially the naan . This is a great spot to visit for lunch .

We didn't feel like cooking, so we decided we're gonna eat Indian food today. I don't think I've had any bad experiences eating Indian food, so I'm always hopeful when I try a new place. We ordered so much food that we had so much leftovers.Staff were super friendly and they were very fast. We came during dinner and the place was pretty full. There were a few empty tables, but they had plenty of people dining in. We were seated almost immediately and they gave us some time to go over the menu and by the time we decided on dinner the service was quick.Food was delicious and everything came out hot and tasted freshly made. This wouldn't be a place I would recommend to take colleagues to meet because music is playing in the background and it's hard to hear each other when dining in.I would definitely come back, I would like to try other items as Indian food is one of my favorite foods. If you haven't tried this place then you should check it out. Parking gets busy during lunch and dinner time.

so our party of twelve began arriving at 1700. a couple people arrived later at 1730. as i begin this review, it is now 1815. only two people have been served. our waiter seemed awkward. he would take a patron's order, walk away, and then return to the table to take another order. after this happened three times, we alerted him to this oddity, complaining that at this rate an entire hour would pass before all the orders were taken. i ordered fish curry with garlic naan and a Flying Horse. our waiter didn't know what a Flying Horse was so i explained it to him and showed it to him on the menu. i will say that my entree with naan was nothing short of excellent. absolutely no complaints! eventually another waiter came to relieve the challenged employee. however even with his assistance, the service was simply not good. as i write now, it is 1850, nearly two hours since we arrived, and the last patron has just now finally been served.

Pulled up to this restaurant around ~6 pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy! We initially were a bit confused because they have a banquet hall but also a door to the restaurant area that has a bar if you walk into the alley a bit.We ordered the butter chicken, an aloo paratha (comes with butter), samosa chaat & vegetable biryani. We got everything spicy, but even then the items were a bit bland and not very spicy at all. I didn't really love the paneer they sprinkled on top of the biryani and wish they cooked more vegetables into it rather than putting the fresh chunks of cucumber and tomato on the outside. I also thought the raita that came w/ the dish was pretty sour.. which I am not used to. The best dish was definitely the samosa chaat bc of the sweet tamarind sauce.The most redeeming factor about this place is that the portion sizes are pretty big for an inexpensive price.

Came from a long drive and my daughter wanted Indian food. We weren't really hungry so we opted for the a la carte but it is good to know that they have the buffet option. It was past lunch but there were people coming and going which I think is a good sign. The papadam (at least I think it's what it's called) was perfect with their wide selection of chutney. With that alone, I was sold! My daughter and I shared the mildly spiced butter chicken and garlic naan. Then, we each had a mango lassi. The main dish was delicious and though mild, could have been better a bit creamier in my opinion. The mango lassi was okay, a little bit tangy for my taste. But still, overall a good experience. I won't mind going back here a bit more hungrier to be able to enjoy their seemingly popular buffet.

Best Indian cuisine I have had in a long time. Bakersfield can compete with the best of them. Service was a bit slow due to the popularity of this location but your patience will be rewarded! Hot delicious naan. Bottomless goat & tandoori chicken during the lunch buffet & a full bar too! When in Bakersfield, THIS is the spot for Indian food. Make no mistake: legit. First class. I shall return!

Delicious and spicy. The meat was a bit salty. Ask for all the food to be delivered at one time.

This place is great! I love Indian buffets because I have a hard time remembering what it is I like. They have a wide variety of dishes. I have not eaten here at regular dinner time. I'm vegetarian so there's lots of dishes without meat. I've been twice. I'll be back for sure.

Today we went to Heart of India. It was our first time having Indian food. When we walked in the restaurant looked very clean and we were greeted by some friendly staff. Right away I could smell all of the spices which only increased my appetite. We had the Buffett. I had the Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan. My apologies. I did have some items on my plate but I did not get the names. They were several other types of chicken. I must say that everything was absolutely delicious. The food was very well prepared and flavorful. Heart of India has some new customers and we can't wait to go back. Thank you!!

Best food ever!!! I am Argentinian and I was skeptical when it comes to Indian food, but man..... this food is great!!! I would recommend 100%.
