They are really nice here and with a good selection. The size of what you get for what you pay is pretty off. I think I will stick with our place in Bishop it does feel like you get more for the $$ there...my husband literally looked at me and said "that's it?" see pic though, cute place.

Food - 3.5/5; most jerky I tried was too sweetService - 5/5; Heather was very nice and made great recs.Bathrooms - 3/5; there was barely functional components Looks on the exterior reflect the status of the restrooms. But the inside was neatly organized.Cons - bags don't zip up to preserve freshness and seal to contain content inside. Prices were rather high, competition may offer better value. At my visit to spicy/unsweet options.

Beef jerky place in the middle of nowhere. So awesome. The owners were very kind and gave us samples of each flavor. Looks like it would be in a scene of a movie. They have a around 3 different flavors of beef Jersey. Cowboy, Teriyaki, and Hot Jerky. Ended up ordering the hot jerky. Very very tasty and great flavoring. Highly recommend this place.

Expensive but EXTREMELY good. I got the hot and sweet jerky yesterday on my trip home and even though it wasn't a huge amount I gobbled it down so fast I wish I had bought two more bags. Seems like they do a deal where if you buy 3 you get a discount - I can't really justify 75$ on jerky, but as a once in a while treat this stuff is GOOD.

Gus' Jerky tempted me on my way up to Mammoth but not enough to make me stop. On the return leg the billboards finally wore me down and figured making a quick detour wouldn't be that bad. To be honest, it looked abandoned and wasn't sure if the signs were just left out. The interior was pretty small and it was filled with stuff I had seen around in the past few days: honeys, nuts and of course jerky. It looked like a very small convenience store that got rid of coolers. No-frills isn't enough to describe it, it was sparse. The gentleman behind the counter just kind of stood there and gave out samples of jerky. He basically didn't say anything until another group came in and he just said 'samples' the the flavors. I ended up getting two of the small bags of original and spicy. I couldn't see myself paying that much for the larger bags. The jerky was thinly sliced, like you could see through it but still shoe leather tough. It made me enough to almost swear off those attraction billboards.

Literally highway robbery!!!Passing by one would assume they make the fresh jerky on site. All they sell is prepackaged jerky imported from elsewhere at astronomical prices. A package under 3 oz for $25??? Thats nuts!

Finally stopped here on my way up to Mammoth. I ended up buying the Sweet & Spicy & Teriyaki. I like the sweet & spicy, but feel that it's way over priced. Don't bother stopping here because there's only 4 different flavors to choose from and they over charge for their jerky. You are better off driving for another hour and stop at Erik Schatt's or even Mahogany Smoked Meats. I would like to think that Mahogany's beef jerky has a better taste because they specialize in smoking meats. The best part, it's almost half the price.

It's ok. There is a very small selection of Jerky. I am very disappointed with the selection. As far as the ambiance it is an old run down shack with an outhouse straight of of Shrek in the back. Overall the jerky I ate was pretty tasty. Service was neither good or bad more just neutral. I'm pretty sure I saw Walt's RV out back.

I've stopped at this place a few months ago and bought some really good stuffed olives. On my way back to Reno a couple days ago I stopped to buy some. I walked in and there was a couple jars of olives that you can buy at your local grocery store. Essentially they had about Zero merchandise. A couple bags of Jerky hanging on wall. The man working there could barely speak English, and he said something about "Tomorrow." Maybe they are going out of business? As soon as the new hwy is finished it will bypass Olancha completely. Kind of sad as I have fond memories of that area.
