Have not been to the Guild House in years. Decided to have a girls luncheon there last week. What a treat!!All of the staff are volunteers and they all seem to really enjoy what they do! Our waitress was wonderful! Friendly and so eager to help us. The food was delicious! We had a choice of Shrimp linguini or shrimp salad. We all chose the linguine. We started the meal with a delicious soup that was so good I drank the last drop out of the bowl. The rolls are fabulous!!! The shrimp linguini was great...not too creamy and big shrimps with great flavor. The dessert was a peach torte. So delicious!!! I need to request the recipe! During our luncheon there was a fashion show with Soma. So we're got to see lots of pajamas and leisure wear as we ate.The whole lunch was wonderful! I'll be sure to go back sooner this go around!

The Guild House is always a plus! I always introduce my friends to this place because it's so darn cute and the service staff are even cuter. Never had a bad meal here and I've been coming for years. This is Bakersfield's hidden gem!

Last night we enjoyed a delightful dinner at this Bakersfield classic. We booked for an early New Year's Eve dinner. We were seated promptly upstairs at a cozy table for 2. Our server was so sweet (Kelly I believe was her name). She started out by telling us how each of the items on the menu for the evening was carefully thought out by the chef to promote good luck in the new year- pork, greens, black eyed peas, etc. From the soup to the dessert our dinner came out hot and every item was delicious. Everything was included in one low price, including a glass of champagne and coffee with dessert. The setting in this beautiful old home is so cozy. Last night it still had the warm and inviting look they create at Christmas time. There were numerous volunteer staff members there, providing service from cooking every item from scratch to serving with a smile and wishing everyone a happy new year on our way out. Kudos to the entire staff at this wonderful institution which is run totally by volunteers and whose profits benefit the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic.

The Guild house is a wonderful establishment. very fancy and lovely especially for a lunch date with your mother or grandmother. All meals are delicious, filling and flavorful. What sets this establishment apart from other local restaurants is that all proceeds go to raise funds for Henrietta Weill Memorial Child guidance clinic, Even including the tip do you leave for the volunteer waiters and waitresses. It's open only seasonally, close during summer months.

The Guild House is a such a gem in Kern County and I am always happy after enjoying a delicious meal here! As diners, we get to enjoy a delicious 3-course meal in a gorgeous setting, all the while helping the children of Kern County. (ALL proceeds are for the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic, having raised over $2 million to date!) When I say 3-course, I mean 3 delicious, all-in-house, scratch-made courses including a soup to start, an entree with sides (or salad of the week), and a mouthwatering dessert, plus bread, tea, and coffee if you'd like. (Soda, beer, and wine available for purchase as well.) Everything is cooked, prepped, served, even washed and stocked by a staff of volunteers. How awesome!!!! I have had these meals many times and have never had something I didn't like! Everything is delicious and I can't rave enough about the service as well. Like others have stated, I would definitely call a couple of days in advance to reserve whatever day you'd like as they do tend to sell out, especially around holidays!! Be sure to check the calendar for meal options as well as fashion show dates! Come in, enjoy the decor and have an incredible meal! Ask for the 'mocktail' of the month too! So fun!

I went to the Guild House for a private birthday event over the weekend and I loved EVERYTHING! From the amazing food to the vintage house to the story/purpose of the business. Nestled in downtown Bakersfield, this is probably one of the oldest homes in Bakersfield turned in restaurant. It only serves lunch Tuesdays-Thursdays. The staff is completely volunteer and the proceeds get donated to the Henrietta Weill Memorial Guidance Clinics. How awesome is that!! The food is delicious. That bread...omg.

Quick SummaryGreat lunch, great value, and great service, all for a great cause. They provide a set meal of 3 courses (bread, entree, dessert) for less than $20. Their menu changes on the daily. So go online and check their menu for the day that interests you, book a reservation, and dig inFood- 4 starsEverything was delicious, starting with the bread, the daily soup, the chicken, and ending with the cheesecake. Everything was very light, not greasy, and still tasty. Service- 5 starsThe staff are all volunteers, yet they were so attentive and pleasant. Would've fooled me that they were getting paid top dollar for their servicesValue- 5 stars3 course meal with large portions for less than $20. Value can't be matchedParking and venue- 5 starsPlenty of parking in the side lot. Perfect setting for outdoor dining as they have plenty of tables on their lawn. Unfortunately, wasn't able to look inside the historic Guild House, but great lunch experience on the lawn.Bottom LineIf you're looking for a more wholesome lunch with great value, great food/service for a great cause, would definitely recommend Guild House

Wow! This was such a lovely experience and a wonderful cause. The volunteers were amiable and the meal was very pleasant. I can't wait to have another luncheon. The restaurant is in the beautiful Barlow home, built in 1909, Guild House serves lunches Monday through Friday from 11:30am through 1:30pm with excellent meals by some of Bakersfield's finest cooks. The guild house is a nonprofit run by volunteers and all of the funds raised go to the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic.

This place is pretty good. They have a set menu every day so you just eat whatever they're serving but their rolls are freshly made and I had their rolls, broccoli soup, pasta with veggies & icecream with pie for $20. The serving sizes are actual serving sizes so it's not too much or too little in my opinion, especially for everything being $20. Service was great, especially since they're volunteers. It's just not a big space inside since it's in a house, but it was still nice and relaxing.
