Super convenient and clean General Market! You can almost find everything, except for borax! Staff are friendly and helpful. It's not so crowded in January but it's jammed packed when there was no power and all the restaurants nearby closed up. Make sure you pack some food for your trip when you are in the desert!

Likes:+ Pleasant, kid-friendly ambience.+ Large, open parking lot.+ Plenty of restrooms.+ Water bottle refill station. Not cold though.. They sell small meals and drinks, which can partially sate you, unless your family is famished. There is no whole meal restaurant here. Will have to search a bit farther.Non-likes:- The adjacent restaurant (Last Kind Words Saloon) was closed. Only open 5-9pm? Such short hours. After a long Death Valley hike, this starving, desperate wanderer gotta get extra lenient, eh?

We were staying at the Ranch, and even though we brought in a lot of food, we were thankful for the options here. Was it expensive? Yes. But it is one of the most desolate places in America and I wanted to avoid the restaurants. Will I gladly pay $2 for a beautiful orange and $4 for a frozen bean and cheese burrito (plus microwave usage). Sure. They had salads, cherry tomatoes, energy bars, food like oatmeals and soups that can be reconstituted with hot water. Cheese sticks, muffins (get the date muffin even though at $10 it was the most expensive muffin I will likely ever have--it was delicious), bananas, ice cream sandwiches, Hostess mini-donuts, local-ish dates, almonds. Frozen food was available (a mix of stuff like burritos, enchiladas, Amy's ravioli, etc). Self-serve coffee. It shared the storefront with a souvenir shop where one can buy postcards, books, t-shirts, and some DV branded tchotchkes. I would have liked more vegetarian friendly sandwiches and salads (saw none over a few visits), but we were able to piece together meals with what was available and avoided restaurants.

This store has essentially fruit and vegetables. Also drinks and frozen food. All are over priced ofcourse. Staff will greet you as you enter the store and then "discreetly" follow you around the store. If you are camping at furnance creek this us the closest option you will have. Lots of parking available.

Cute little pit stop within Death Valley. Knowing food options were limited, expensive and likely even subpar, I decided to skip the restaurant hunt altogether and came here for a quick grab and go situation instead. Was pleasantly surprised by all the options here for what's basically the middle of nowhere, ranging from sandwiches to salads. If you're looking for souvenirs, you can find that here too! Plus they have organic dates grown in California for purchase here too, although if you have plenty of time, I also recommend checking out the China Date Ranch Farm on the way in or out of Death Valley.

Nothing surprising here: souvenirs and food and drink in the cooler at "where else will you go?" prices.

If you want a souvenir of Death Valley, you'll certainly have a good selection to choose from here. I've been here a couple of times, but it seems like I just look and never buy anything. The t-short prices were very reasonable yesterday, but I had already gotten one of the 134 degree temperature anniversary shirts at the Visitor Center and I didn't need another.A friend bought a small bottle of prickly pear cactus syrup and it was reasonably priced. I don't know the prices of soda or other items so I can't comment on that. If you're thirsty, this might be just the spot for you. There's a nice patio out front to enjoy and drinks or snacks you might buy here.In Death Valley, because you're such a distance from any competition, prices are going to be higher so you just have to go with the flow or bring your own in a cooler when you come here.

I've been coming here for a long time. In terms of convenience stores in national parks, this is one of the best.- great souvenir selection, t-shirts, hats, etc.- good selection of basic and not so basic foodstuff- beer! Some good beer, too.- nice layout Sure the prices are a bit high, but think of where this place is and how stuff has to get here.

I'm not sure if I can fully sympathize with those who complain about the prices here. When you're at this General Store, you are in the middle of Death Valley. You are at least an hour away from the closest settlement of any respectable size. No matter where you are in the world, if you are in a remote location then all good are going to be more expensive. So what to do? Plan ahead. Bring your own food, and use the store to pick up just a few additional items that you forgot, but understand that the cost of being in a beautiful national park, far from the madding crowds of LA and the SF Bay Area, is higher prices for goods. There is a cost associated with the transportation of food to this place.Having said that, this is a fine store for souvenirs and gifts and yes, an occasional food item. Compared to what you're going to pay at any of the restaurants at this location, it's still a compartive bargain. Was I happy when I paid $4 apiece for some ice cream bars? No, not really. But was it a satisfying treat on a day when the temperature hit 108F? Most certainly.

A gem of a place in the middle of the desert. Though understandably expensive, it is a clean beautiful store with a wonderful selection of foodstuff and gifts. I have always been greeted by a a polite staff member and have nothing but praise!
