We have been coming to Frandy for 7 years and we absolutely love it ! Great location on the river especially if you have children the water is calmer (aside from this year), bathrooms are decent compared to other campsites nice showers, staff is amazing we love the owner one of the main reasons we keep returning, Saturday movie night is a bonus my kiddos love it ! I would highly recommend staying at Frandy if your visiting Kern perfect walking distance to everything ! I commend the staff here especially after the floods they worked their butts off to get the camp back to normal with what they could without raising prices! Our site books out a year so we were really looking forward to our trip and unfortunately our site was ruined it's now apart of the river and the owner made sure to get us in an amazing spot to accommodate. Thank you and can't wait to come back next year!

Unfortunately I have to say this is the last time here, we always had an amazing time here on thanksgiving, reserving spot 88 ($120) per night no problem, 4-5 nights of fun. Now this place has changed for the worse, cigarette's all over the floor, trash, the crowd are not family oriented but more of a party low music until the early morning. Not a quiet peaceful place to bring your love ones, not worth the trouble, stay away from this place.

Frandy, Frandy Frandy, what can I say? I was pleasantly surprised.HUGE THING FOR ME, YOU ARE ABLE TO BOOK ONLINE, most of the other campsites don't have this availability! Every campsite has a photo of the actual campsite lot! (Major score) I do not like surprises! We were welcomed with a "drive thru" style check in where all our information was taken and wristbands were given (felt very safe) also a map along with activities that were scheduled for Saturday (meet the animals, rock painting and movie night). The staff was friendly and welcoming. Also, they have 1$ popcorn buckets for movie night!!The campground itself is all dirt. BE PREPARED FOR SAND TO FLY! Most camp grounds that I have been to are paved where cars pass, however, Frandy's is solely dirt/sand. This may not be an issue on days that are not windy. Access to the river is great, the river is clean and not too busy, plenty of people are rafting and floating. Now let's talk restrooms, there is only one building with three stalls available!!!! I wish they had at-least two, they compensated with porta potties that are located in threeother ends of the site that are just horrifying . If you are one that regularly has to go this may be an issue. Just say a prayer before entering those Porta Potties or be prepared to walk to the pretty restrooms, take your pick. All in all, it is not bad. I love how close it is to town just in case you forget something. The town itself is so cute. 100% relaxation.Pros:-large camp sites -river access-friendly staff-ice, ice cream, sun screen, chapstick, firewood etc is available to purchase at the office. -close to townCons:- not enough actual restrooms-smelly porta potties-dirt/sand

First time Frandy and Kern River campers, the hardest part of the whole weekend was trying to get out of San Diego. When coming up from San Diego take the I-15 to the 58 just past Barstow, West on 58 to Kramer junction 395 intersection and head north on the 395 until you get to Ridgecrest/ Inyokern turn off. Follow the signs to Kernville. Frandys is well organized, easy checkin and a very friendly staff. We weren't lucky to get a full hookup site some we dry camped in our RV. Big shade trees are everywhere so it helped cool the rig. They allow small campfires if you need it, we didn't it was 97 degrees during the day. The bathrooms were very modern, clean and safe. I saw a lot of doing the tooth brush walk in the morning. The river is directly in front of the campground so remember to get up early and find your shoreline day spot. The town is a short walk or bike ride away. We had bikes so we took them everywhere. In one day he had breakfast at el Rios, beer at the Kernville saloon and dinner at the pizza barn. Plenty to see plenty to doo. The only thing is they need to spray the roads to keep the dust down.

Great for kids - near a quiet spot on the river. Staff are friendly and helpful. Showers are quarters. Toilets are clean and site is great for kids who have plenty of space to run around. Park wasn't full when we were there which made it great - can see how it would be busy in summer. Amazingly peaceful at night during our fall stay.

We've gone to this campground since 2019 and loved it! It has been a yearly destination trip however our last visit (2024) there was lots of debris in the back sites possibly could've been trees that were knocked down but not had been picked up yet either way it definitely took away from the experience feeling like we were camping near a dump site hoping it is better this year!

Best location. Walking distance to pubs on the other side of the bridge. Convenient store and staff is all so friendly. They always go above to welcome us. For my daughter's birthday they decorated our camp site upon arriving.

Ok... we have camped on Kernville every summer for maybe the last 8 years or so... never had an issue, always super fun- great location in the middle of Kernville town with great water access... I recommended them to everyone I know that loves rafting. Mind you, we have camped all over the state & in many other states... I'd say maybe 1,000 or more campgrounds. So with this review, take it with the fact that we have experienced campgrounds... This year, my cousin booked sites next to each other for all of us to stay at so that we would be in same location & kids could play & have a great time. We ended up having to work in morning, had car issues, so had to swap vehicles & ended up stuck in traffic for 3 hours to get to Kernville... we roll in super late (I know it's annoying to have campers come in after dark, right before office hours end). The woman at the front was not happy, she comes right up to the window in a very hostile manner & the 5 month old mutt puppy that was sleeping gave some startled barks... (If anyone knows how to train dogs, you know that you don't give attention to a barking puppy otherwise your attention is the reward, you just redirect. I get it- I apologize, she's a puppy in training.) Then the lady demands to see the dog.. I thought that was weird, but we complied. Then screams "she's a pit bull! She can't stay here! I can't let you in" (For the love of goodness, she's a rescue puppy- we were told she's a terrier mix... I do know that the puppy's mom had a long face exactly like a Labrador... we don't know what she is, we just got her, she's a PUPPY & we aren't breed experts.. we just look for dogs with good temperament that can be trained... Moving on.... )She said "rule #20 says no pit bulls!" Me: "okay, I don't have a pit bull.... And why would you have a breed discrimination rule way at the bottom? You need to have it at the top of the list so people know."She told me it has to do with their insurance... (funny you mention that.. we have lots of family in the insurance business.... I'd love to read that policy & find out why only one specific breed is banned.. campgrounds usually have weight limits or all aggressive breed bands, not specifically one breed... most campgrounds have you sign something saying if your dog is aggressive, you are liable, you will be charged an extra fee out of convenience, and kicked out. Insurance companies are willing to work with you, as long as you do your part. However, right now... the state wants to play monopoly with insurance policies due to drama with state commissioner, so they control most rural area policies now... the state doesn't have breed bands... I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with these policies, just if you are going to be discriminatory, it has to be for all breeds.. my neighbor has an insane poodle that tries bites everyone walking by.... That dog should never be allowed anywhere... private campgrounds can refuse to do business with whoever they want to, that isn't my concern)The woman was kind enough to guide us to the "free campground". We get there and it's full of questionable characters, participating in illegal recreational activities... We have 2 small kids & a puppy in a tent. Nope. Not happening. We start driving around until we find a campground that had exactly one available spot..They couldn't have been nicer... campers & staff were so helpful. No dog breed bands there, just if you have an annoying dog, you're asked to leave (that's how it is at most places). My cousin and family are so upset at this point... but we made it work...Their review is "Full of really strange people, quiet hours rules aren't enforced. Seemed like some sort of cult was camping next to us; they were up super early & one teenaged girl didn't have any clothes on... the only thing the staff was concerned with was if everyone had bracelets on, kept checking our parking pass, and ice was literally $10. I don't ever want to go back there." So with this lengthy review... Frandy owners really need to collaborate with their fellow RV park owners and find out what companies they use for insurance & take some hospitable lessons... because if this goes on long term, the campground won't have any campers that want to go there anymore... that is extremely problematic in the business world.

I came o it to kernville with my family for my girlfriends birthday . I entered the parking lot because my sister had asked if it was ok to go into they approved , I went in to off load 2 older white ladys and a white guy ran towards us instantly started yelling that why did we come in that they own the land etc . I told her we would move after my family was already set up . Keep in mind everyone else is white so she turns and starts getting attention with some near by campers yelling saying she's going to call the sheriff . We have kids, she's already scarring them . I told them we would leave they're trying to prove who knows what point . The owner her self or she claimed was the main one acting crazy ! I can't believe people are still resist and acting like this! Stay away from here if you're not white you won't be welcomed . Sad my kids and family had to experience this ! They called the sheriff over parking in the lot ?! Run away from these Karens .
