Foxtail Lounge Bakersfield

My husband and I stumbled upon this bar when looking for a quick drink close to our hotel. The atmosphere was relaxed on a weekday evening, with great service, and the cocktails were excellent. The bartender made me a cocktail with gin, Thai basil and creme de violette. It was perfectly balanced which isn't always the case with creme de violette.

This cozy cocktail lounge is classy and comfortable. It has the tropical Miami vibe going. Very sexy. They serve many highly specialized drinks with a flair. As we watched a drink was prepared, placed under glass and smoke filtered in. So cool to watch. We got in just shortly after opening so we're able to catch a couple of seats at the bar and happy hour prices. Angel was our friendly and informative mixologist and Morgan Was delivering cocktails and seeing to everyone's overall well being. My companion was thirsty, Morgan brought us a lovely decanter of still water. Very nice touch. I ordered the Blackberry Sunset, Ketel One Vodka, Opertiva Risato, lemon, baby dill & blackberries. My companion ordered the El Dorado, Fon Julio Tequila, vanilla liqueur, lemon juice & honey. This is a romantic and comfortable place to lounge and have a cocktail. Great for date night!

This place was so cool - intimate, private, and the drinks were great. Our server made sure we had the best first experience and was so friendly pointing out other cool spots in town. I had never been to a tongue like this before, but definitely will be visiting more in the future!

This was my first time at Foxtail with 1 friend and I loved it. We made new friends due to the couch to couch seating arrangements and it was such a cool experience! The lighting was low, but there were candles and a neon sign that gave off a fun color. The drinks were sooo good and the servers were super friendly, as well as very quick to help us. The bathroom was spotless as a plus. I definitely recommend for small groups of friends to go mingle with others!

Ana is THE BEST bartender in Bakersfield. Period. Come on a Tuesday or Saturday just to chat with her. She's so Knowledgeable and passionate about the work that she does. She's so easy to talk to and makes visiting the Foxtail such a fun experience. Had such a cool time chilling with her.If I'm ever back in Bakersfield going to be stopping by here again just to hang out with her. She makes suuuuper good drinks!

First time being here and I definitely had a good time, the ambience is absolutely stunning and also their drinks are amazing. Bartenders are very friendly and service is excellent! Definitely will come back here I really love the vibe!

This place was pretty cool. Came here on a Saturday evening. It was pretty early for "going out". I'm old, so it was a good time for me. It actually worked out perfect because the place wasn't busy at all. So we got a great seat and as it got busier through the night, we had the perfect people watching seats. It is decorated super cute. Random looking couches and chairs arranged in sections and set up to be perfect for conversations with friends. Reminded me a little of the set up on "Friends" in the coffee shop. We had a waitress that was great. She kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else. I noticed as the place got busy, she definitely got busy and it was a little harder to get her attention. But I didn't feel abandoned. The place has some really cool drinks. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and they brought it to him in a glass enclosure that they had blown a Smokey flavor into. I'm sure there is a fancy name for what they did, but I have no clue. I got a drink that was fabulous!! It tasted like a milkshake. Very dangerous!! I could drink many of these, back to back. It was so good!!We left when it started to get busy. It was a fun night and I'd definitely do it again.

I like this place I think their drinks are wonderful. To the drinks themselves 5/5.However, I feel like something is missing. The ambience and the vibe of the bar doesn't match the great drinks. I give the vibe 3/5.Currently foxtail is calm and loungie. Great place for conversation and/or pre game. However, I would love to see it with a much louder more upbeat music, a DJ?! I think this would really tie things together. But hey, what do I know? If you are looking for more of a chill vibe then this is the place for you.

I really wanted to love the Foxtail Lounge. TRULY! I have been following them on Instagram for quite some time and was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit with my partner and two good friends. We arrived early in the afternoon on a Saturday in order to beat the evening rush. Our friends had been there prior and indicated that when busy, it could be difficult to get service. So we made it a point to avoid this. We were seated in a great location in the far corner. Just one of two groups inside.The decor was perfection - it's obvious there was great care and attention to produce a chill Miami meets speakeasy vibe. Lovely plush couches and jewel tones for days. Even the menu seemed to be curated for those insta-worthy photos.Our server was the only bartender. We were attended to upon arrival and placed our order. It took some time to receive our cocktails, but. that's to be expected with the craftsmanship involved. Our friends arrived about 10 minutes after us and their orders were taken within 10 minutes. This is where things start to go south. Once we finished our cocktails, about 30-40 minutes later we began searching for our server. She was behind the bar making cocktails for the entire room. Which by now was filled with about 15 more patrons. No bar-back. No help whatsoever. Just this one server for 20+ patrons. One server to make hand crafted cocktails. Over an hour later and we were still waiting. We even tried to get her attention by making our way to the bar. But it was quite obvious she was overwhelmed and they were understaffed. To make matters worse it was brought to our attention that the owner was sitting in another booth and making no attempt to help this poor girl. After quite some time and a few groups expressing their displeasure, the owner came around to ask for our order. When we inquired the wait, he honestly stated that he didn't know and it could be quite some time with only one bartender. We gently indicated our displeasure and were met with little more than an excuse about it being busy. Look - I fully understand having staffing shortages - I get it. I bring my patience whenever I go out because some things are just not within our control. But honestly, what owner doesn't get behind the bar to assist? And if you don't have the staffing available you could, theoretically, limit capacity to accomodate. My hope is that this is being worked out and we came on a truly off night. One thing I would love to see with Foxtail is the ability to make reservations. We regularly frequent specialty bars across the country and many of these smaller places require reservations and limit each to 90 minutes. Reservations would certainly prepare a business to staff appropriately. With all this said, I am anxiously awaiting another opportunity to visit and give Foxtail the five stars they deserve.
