Fay Yin Restaurant

Just tried this spot after driving past it for years. No frills, just great tasting, straightforward Chinese food that luckily hit the spot. The building is a tad rundown, and the cleanliness is questionable, but the amazing tasting food more than makes up for it. Fast service, friendly owners and great prices will keep me coming back. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't the place - but for solid, traditional classics, it's hard to beat!

Best Chinese food! Number 9 combo best and their egg rolls amazing. Always ask for chili oil! My husband has been coming here for years and always a place to return to. Owners are awesome, shout out to Richard!

Found a hair in my chow mein and bug in my rice didn't finish food. Place is dirty would not returnI ordered the number 9. Today. July 16 2023.

The potstickers are great. I love the owner and staff in the kitchen staff. Everyone was friendly and treated you like family. I have never had a meal that was less than great here.

Food is not great. But it has been around for a long time in McFarland. So some people like and others don't.

If this was a bar it would be a dive bar. Nothing to look at on the outside. The inside is just a notch above but the food is amazing and the owner works the service end and he's the nicest guy ever. I've been before with friends and regretted not being able to take the leftovers because we were headed somewhere. Tonight I'm dining alone and chose the abalone and shrimp soup which is once again amazing. If you're ever this way for lunch or dinner give it a try. It's really good authentic Chinese better than any I've had in Bakersfield. Enjoy.

You know that one spot in your hometown that everyone knows about. This one here is it for me. Been coming here since childhood, high school lunch recess, after Sunday Service, I'm not sure why but it's hard to find a good Chinese Restaurant with quality food. Everything served on your plate is magnificent. I'm in a relationship with the #9 Salt & Pepper Shrimp with fried rice and chow mein. If you starving you can add additional shrimp for a small fee. Feel like spicing it up? You can add a small to-go container of that delicious chili sauce. Well todays visit was extra special, while picking up my prescription at the nearby Rite Aid, i knew I had to stop and get dinner at Fay Yin. Well immediately after paying for my meal, I observed both Lin & Robert (co-owner/owner) having a discussion) then second's later they approach me and show me this portable charger, (my portable charger), that I've been looking for days without luck. They asked me if it was mine, AND IT WAS! Apparently i was there a couple days ago and forgot my portable by one of the tables. Well I am ol glad they reunited me with my portable charger, Iam glad they run a restaurant with honesty and integrity.

Love , love this place! stop by and eat homemade food! Authentic and delicious!!!We ordered vegetarian fried shrimp, vegetable egg rolls,chow mein, spicy tofu, and shrimp chop suey! You must order hot mustard. It was so delicious! Thanks for the great customer service.

the worse you can go to. we ordered some food and the was the bean sprout was rotten, it shouldn't have black roots and green spots on it. The rice was also nasty, it smelt as if it was sitting on the rice cook for days. We went to ask why it's like this and the worker got mad at us and raised her voice, she even complained and give excuses saying "you guys are not cookers and you guys don't know anything" but my dad is a cooker and knows how beansprouts look like while being cooked and how it is freshly new.
