El Grullense

The food here is just OK. I wouldn't go out of the way to eat here. My favorite thing is cheese enchiladas, and if you can't make that right, you've kind of lost me. Mine were dry hardly any sauce. The cheese wasn't even melted. My daughter had the taquitos. She said they were pretty good. My hubby enjoyed torta. When you walk into the restaurant on the right hand side almost every bench seat was ripped and torn. Looked horrible, so we went over to the other side and found a booth that wasn't. The waitress was nice, but she didn't really come over to refill drinks or ask how things were. They guard the chips, they don't want to give you very much. We did ask for another basket and they did give us one. I don't see myself returning here, especially after seeing they charge a service fee for using a card. 3.5%.1-7-24

I was introduced to the absolute worst salsa I have ever had I said run but my friends wanted to try everything. The rice was hard and overcooked indicating they can't cook. My shrimp was awful just terrible overcooked I have never had a bad Mariscos before. I am never going back to this lame town and never going back to this diner. The health inspector should check this place out.

Started with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was watered down and not very good. Salsa has a strong fish taste. Chips were stale. Carne asada was dry. Carnitas were very greasy. I won't be coming back. They either didn't have the air conditioner on or it was set so high that we couldn't feel it and were sweating on a 100 degrees day.

So good! We were greeted right away. Our order came out in less than 5 minutes! We ordered an asada burrito and 2 soft tacos. Great pit stop on the way to Red Rock Canyon state park. Would love to try the menudo next time, but it was so hot outside that I wasn't in the mood for soup haha. They also sell a bunch of Mexican snacks.

The menudo was okay as the meat was a little chewy , but had no hominy. The service was not bad, as the server would check on us. The setting wasn't bad , it was pretty comfortable. But the review is solely on the restaurant itself, I felt like for what we got (2 bowls of menudo and 2 drinks) it was waaaaaay overpriced. $45 ? Seriously? For 2 bowls of menudo and 2 drinks, we didn't even have chips and salsa. If we did it probably would've costed another $20. We're probably never gonna go to this place again.

Stop by on the drive through and omg the Asada is so goood! I was nervous to try it, but I'm glad I did. Thank you all for the great food

Passing through the area and since my favorite Thai place was closed for the day, decided to eat here at El Grullense. I'm not sure why this place rates well on Yelp as customer service and food needs serious improvement. Our waitress was either having a bad day or ??? ....As several simple request during our visit, just wasn't understood, heard or refused to be carried out. For example: ordered hot water with lemon and was told they don't serve hot water (WTH -?!?). Confused, we asked, if they have a stove to cook food, then you have a stove to boil water or microwave it. Questioning the waitress, did get us our hot water... but why was it necessary for us to further probe for it?!? My friend ordered plain cheese enchiladas, was served enchiladas WITH chicken. Order took about 30 min to receive and we didn't have the time to wait another 30 min for a new order. We asked if the over head fan can be turned off, our waitress said yes. We waited and waited .... fan remained on, so we just asked to be seated at another table. Law breakers get three strikes ...and this restaurant actually made more strikes that I wasn't going ad nauseum about. Three strikes, you're out !!! And very worthy of a shiny 1 star review from me. Otherwise ...free chips & salsa, with chips that taste stale. BTW, no alcohol served here. There is a large free parking lot, decent restrooms. Alright...if you've seen my Yelp reviews...you know I eat A LOT of Mexican food. This jumped the rankings in one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Their spices were flat out incredible. I didn't know a bacon burrito could be this good. To top it all off, their homemade salsa was absolutely FIRE. I'm thoroughly impressed with this spot. I work in Mojave about once a month, I'll be here everytime I'm there.

Unfortunately a big let down for me, I was looking forward to trying something new while in Mojave for work and I love Mexican food so I was all about hitting up this spot. Sadly it was all just one big downhill slide. I waited at the counter for a few minutes before I was acknowledged by a rather cold waitress who just asked if I was picking up an order. I told her no I was here to dine in, she just waved her hand and told me sit anywhere and handed me a menu. Several more minutes passed before she came to take my order despite putting the menu down and looking at her, the conversation she was having with the one of the other 2 people in the restaurant took a while. I got a few more words out of her as I ordered an enchilada combo plate and she went to the back. 3 separate times (when she brought my chips and salsa, my drink, and my food) she stopped at the other person's table and had another conversation with them for several minutes while holding my items. Far from perfect service but hopefully the food would make up for it. Regrettably my findings were;-Enchiladas that barely had any sauce on them at all and were dry-Rice that was badly overcooked and was practically mush-Beans that were so salty I couldn't eat them. Just a bad experience all around for me, I was ready to get out of there and get back to work. No one was up front to get my check, they have a bell and a horn at the front. They tell you to ring the bell or honk the horn for service. I rang the bell twice and waited several more minutes before she finally came out from the back to get me checked out and don't forget the upcharge they hit you with if you pay with anything but cash, that ran the bill up a little more. Won't be back, chalk it up to a bad experience as a whole and move on. Good luck to others, maybe you'll have a better experience than I did.

Food was bland and the cleanliness was questionable . There was a roach near our table and the bench seating on one side of the table shifted and split apart as we sat and got up. We ordered the asada nachos, a quesadilla and chicken and asada tacos. The asada was overcooked and chopped so fine we thought it was ground beef. The chicken tacos and quesadilla were fine. The rice and beans were absolutely flavorless, added salt and salsa and it wasn't enough to make it palatable. Wouldn't recommend this place.
