We went to eat at Noriega Hotel where I ordered their Picon Punch and had their multi dish boarding style dinner eating on picnic table benches. But I was a glutton for punishment and went across the parking lot to go into a seedy looking bar, attracted to it since the sign read, "Druids Lodge". I like almost anything PAGAN since in most of human existence that was the STANDARD. Only in the last 2,000 years or so do we get a deviance from that mean. Well, Druids is a DIVE which pleased me just fine since dives are another like of mine. Being prim & proper is all fine, but in a dive you can let your hair down and maybe even burp out loud, and no one would blink an eye. I got too fancy & wanted a Campari & Soda, but Druids didn't have it. So you gotta order plain drinks like Gin & Tonic or straight Whiskey. Heather, the bartendress, was a hoot. She is a natural born comedienne. She just talks easy, & you end up smiling and sometimes rolling on the floor. She's got a natural delivery that just sneaks up on you. Heather is cool. Druids Lodge is just ok when it comes to the sophistication of their stock of liquor. It's a down home bar, but Heather makes the place extra special & entertaining. She is a heterosexual man's W_T Dream. But I for one, enjoy her joie de vivre and her all out fun style. Druids is 3 stars but Heather bumps in that one extra star just by her own star power. You go, Girl!

After dinner next door at Noriega's, and mystified by the name, we decided to pop in to Druids Lodge (if they would let us ) and check it out. I wasn't sure what to expect... would someone ask me for a secret password? Perhaps we would find a mini Styrofoam Stonehenge? Bartenders in long hooded robes? What we found was basically a dive bar that has some type of affiliation with some sort of secret society but will allow anyone in who has the funds to pay for a drink. We also found a hysterical bartender named Heather, who kept us in stitches while at the same time keeping us in drinks. She was seriously one of the most entertaining bartenders I've ever seen and extremely perceptive about people as well. There is a jukebox. There is a dance floor. And there are Druids t-shirts. And please don't be mad at me if The Druids are somehow a negative group. I truly have absolutely no idea what they are but I am an American and believe in freedom of religion. Cheers!

This place is more of "regulars". They need to update the inside. Otherwise, the owner is nice and always have his little dog there.
