Downtown Toys N Comics

This is a really cool store lots of action figures toys hot wheels. If you're looking for any kind of retro toy, they probably have it. The prices looked really good. The store was huge. Had lots of inventory. We went on a Saturday and they were having a sidewalk sale with lots of hot wheels very cool place. I will definitely come back again and the people working they were super nice A+.

So much fun in a small shop. We were not planning to visit but we stopped in while on our way elsewhere. It was like a thrift boutique with toys, stickers, and comic books-- much more up our alley than expected. So we set out to locate a few things: LPS, Strawberry Shortcake, Thomas the Tank Engine, and MLP. We found them all and bought a couple. The gentlemen assisting customers were so accommodating and gracious, as we requested cases to be unlocked. This place was jam packed with collectibles (too much Funko Pop) and definitely fit the bill for our treasure-hunting plans. As we were rung up, they suggested heading a few blocks away to an antique mall called Mill Creek, so we ended up over there, too. Thanks for the suggestion!

My brother and I love collecting toys of all sorts. He's more into funko pops and magic the gathering cards and I'm more into the cutesy stuff like popmart, smiski, and occasional hello kitty stuff. I was super excited to see Labubu and Smiski in the store but once I opened them I knew that they were not authenthic. I went back to the store and talked to one of the workers about them being fake and he was really nice about it and refunded the amount back. I felt so bad as it was a present my brother bought for me but I also didn't want him to waste money on overpriced fake labubu and smiski. So just be really careful when buying from here. The workers are nice but it would just be nicer if the stuff was also authenthic.

They have pretty much everything in here. My son loves coming to look at all the Marvel figures and funkos. Some stuff here is ridiculously overpriced, but there are some great finds if you have time to look. The only thing I didn't like was being made to feel like I was shoplifting. We frequent the antique shops often and I've never had this happen. I came in when they first opened with my kids and husband. I had my three month old in a baby carrier and had my diaper bag on. The employee kept watching me from different areas of the store and it made me really uncomfortable. At one point my baby started screaming so I took her to the car so she wouldn't disturb anyone. One of the workers came out at the same time I was and watched me go to the car and get in. I totally get that downtown Bakersfield probably isn't the greatest when it comes to stealing and crime. It just made me feel uncomfortable that I felt like I was being watched and followed the entire time we were in the store. Really love it here though. I hope they stick around for a while. Bakersfield desperately needs more stores like this.

NOT YOUR MAMMAS ANTIQUE STORE:Located in the heart of downtown antique store row in Bakersfield CA, this place closer identifies as a Comic and Collector's store than your traditional antique store with your grandmas items she didn't want. Ran similar to an antique store, it has hundreds of venders that sell anything from action figures, comic books, toys, to hot wheels and so much more. You'll find what you're looking for here every time you enter the store. And there are a few antiques as well so bring grandma anyway. Many of the items are retired from stores, never hit the stores shelves, or haven't been on selves for years and in many cases decades. Prices are fair and they are always willing to work with serious buyers. The staff are polite and very helpful and knowledgeable. They host the Downtown Toys-N-Comics Event the last Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm. Dozens of venders bring there collections to the sidewalk including items not seen in the store and special pricing deals. If you love going to antique shops like my daughter and I do, make this a happy change of pace. You will not be disappointed. And remember to tell them "Doc" sent you.

Pretty sweet store. Lots of toys and items that take you back to your childhood. With that said there is way to much product all over the place and kind of overwhelming. You have to watch your step because you could end up knocking items down and breaking them. Prices are high for items but if you want it of course you will pay for it.

Would be a cool shop if not for the two bearded dragons shown off in the front when walking in that don't look to be cared for properly. It was disheartening to see. The tanks they were in are barely a fraction of what is recommended, not to mention having absolutely no UVB lights which are necessary for them to receive proper amounts of vitamin D which is required for them to absorb calcium from their food. A quick google search, as well as the information on caring for them given to them by others, would help, but because they have had them for years like this it is "okay".

This is one of the coolest spots ever for toys, comics, and collectibles! Not only is this store full of cool stuff! They have two of the coolest mascots around! 2 giant Bearded Dragons at the entrance! Open everyday!
