Don Perico Restaurant And Bar

This restaurant was recommended by on of the staff at the Fairfield Inn and Suites when we were staying in Tehachapi on our way to Las Vegas. Most of the restaurants I was interested in on YELP were closed on Sunday nights, so we took this reco from a local and ran with it.The restaurant is set back from the street in a little shopping area just off the main street from the first exit going East. It is worth a stop even if you are just driving through town.The service was warm, friendly and attentive. I had heard that the shrimp tacos were good, and I was hungry, so I ordered the dinner. My husband got the Carne Asada dinner. I got a very reasonably priced glass of Chardonnay,which I sipped as I studied the selection of tequilas lined up behind the bar. We were also brought chips and salsa right away. The chips are good, but more like packaged chips than fried chips.I sipped my wine, and enjoyed the ambience of this "local's" restaurant. It is the kind of place that your small office goes to for a celebration lunch, or for casual drinks after work. It has that casual vibe combined with affordable pricing that makes it popular.Our dinners came quickly and we enjoyed the hearty dishes. The food is kind of American-Mexican, as there was tartar sauce on my shrimp tacos. The shrimp were plump and there were plenty of them. My husbands Carne Asada was tender and there was a rolled up cheese enchilada with his meal that was just yummy!! It all tasted good and home-made, and we went away satisfied and refreshed, with lots of take-out leftover!

Moving here from Fresno and have to say I loved it! The salsa and chips were delicious. A bean and cheese burrito means a lot to me. I was not disappointed. The service was quick and friendly. I had a great time and will be eating here more often.

The food here is ok. I do like the complimentary chips and salsa. The chicken over here is dry and rice/beans are bland. Food here is a bit pricey. Service is quick and restaurant never feels crowded when I eat here.

Great food, friendly staff.Love their chili Verde and enchiladas Suiza. Full bar service, they make a really good Cadillac margarita. Yummy.

Outstanding service here. I've been when tables are full and also when it's empty and the service was flawless each time. Great food. My favorite chips in town!

Got food to go. Was very good. Hot and fresh. Wanted to post current menu since so many prices have changed over the past months

The nachos were good ask for a side of jalapeños as the salsa was a little bit bland. The golden Cadillac margaritas were on point, the 25 ounce Modelo's were served ice cold. We ordered the steak chicken and shrimp fajitas they were good but liked a little bit of flavor. The flautas which we ordered half chicken and half beef were delicious and I must try. As far as the desserts the churros were a solid 4. The nice surprise was there Apple pie chimichanga which was absolutely fabulous we asked for it with a side of ice cream to make it almost like a Apple pie à la mode. The apples inside were very fresh and still crisp with the perfect amount of sweetness.

I truly enjoyed this place and the service was fantastic. It was clean professional and very well organized. I went back on Wednesday and they had karaoke it was very entertaining.. I would definitely go back

Traveling through Tehachapi today and stoppedat Don Perico's. Chili relleno was the best I've had in years. Very pleased with the chips as well.

Honesty the most pathetic Mexican food I've ever had in my 26 years of life. Literally just dry meat NOTHING ELSE in my 17 dollar carnitas burrito. Runny beans, gross "Spanish rice." I never take time out my my day to write reviews on yelp, but this was definitely by FAR the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Oh and the service STUNK
