Dollar General Market

I have recently seen commercials for dollar general and made a mental note to check them out if I had a chance. Claim to fame name brands at discount prices. I expected to see discontinued items or line rejects this was not the case. I was greeted by a small fresh fruit and vegetable section along with a meat freezer with large sale tags emblazoned with great prices. A large frozen foods section rivaling some supermarkets and aisles of boxed fans canned food all name brands

a store named dollar general, you'd think that the prices would be low right? NOT THE CASE! Most things I had looked for there that I had bought in other places were in most cases a dollar more at the least! It was small, unorganized, and not very clean! The people working their however were very nice so i don't know how to factor that all together ha.My opinion: won't go back, would not recomend it.

W O W ! Horrible service. Was in line for more that 10 minutes (next in line) and the cashier/manager couldn't figure out how to punch in the coupons for this lady, which I don't understand why u want to go through the trouble of saving a few cent while buying a lot of items!! Any way, what bothered me the most was, the cashier/manager's attitude...she had a bad one, very negative and condescending...On a good note, I got my wife's cough drops! (That's right! More than 20 mins in the store finding then and standing in line) lolI think 2 stars is fair...

If I could give this store no stars I would. It started out a few years ago as a very nice & friendly neighborhood market. It has progressively gone downhill fast. Where cashiers used to be friendly & helpful, they are now indifferent with some downright rude. I contacted them via phone, survey, & email with no response after six weeks. Won't be getting my business again ever!!!! Save yourself frustration & just go somewhere, anywhere else.

The manger is horrible has no customer service, rude, disrespectful, and just simply a bitch. I had an incident occur to me today while I was checking out. I had three different transactions one was cash, the next one was going to be with Apple Pay since it list that they do accept it and on the registers. Marisol proceeds to tell me that they don't accept it and I said okay I'm not taking any of this. I proceed with the next transaction and she questioned me I was taking those things and I told her yes this is a different transaction. She then said "I'm not helping you I'm not taking your attitude" all I did was respond to her question. She then throws my items and makes a scene. I'll be calling corporate and reporting this issue. NOT EVEN WORTH THE ONE STAR.

I have only been to the east Bakersfield store but I would go back in a second. I hope they are All that way. Very clean and the staff were friendlier and more helpful than most 5 star hotels I've visited. Great job!!

All and All not a bad little store for being put square in the HOOD... I was actually very surprised by this store... Figured it was just going to be another 99 Cent Store rip off (There are about 75 of those in a mile radius)... And while I do confess to going to a bigger store more often than here... I do shop here from time to time for something we either forgot or something we don't want to take a hour to pick up from a big store... Their prices are NOT bad... They have brand name items and staff is pretty nice as a whole... If they do have a downfall it is their lack of selection and the fact that they don't carry certain things at all like English Muffins... I asked, and they told me straight out... WE DO NOT CARRY ENGLISH MUFFINS... But they do carry several items that the big stores do with comparable, or even slightly lower prices... The store is set up with a very small check out area and it is usually not staffed very well, most cashiers are either totally slammed or on the floor doing another task come check out time... So it can take awhile to get your groceries and go... However, compared to the Walmart up the road or the Foodmax on Niles... It's a mere tick of the clock in comparison to the 90 minute adventure you will have at those locations... In short, if you need something and you come across this store give it a shot... You might be pleasantly surprised...
