I have always been active in some sort of activity: running, hiking, softball etc. Even though I have had low back issues for many years, I thought I was in pretty good shape for the most part. I had NO IDEA what fitness really meant until I started CrossFit. My first time at CFR started out on the physical therapy side due to low back issues. While working with Janet to get my back healthy again, I was able to observe a few CF classes. Janet even worked in some movements into my therapy to strengthen my low back and core. Let me tell you my back couldn't heal fast enough; I was chomping at the bit to be able to WOD. Since I've been CrossFitting I've been able to workout while on travel at other boxes and, from my experience, not all boxes are the same. What separates CFR from the others is that the box is clean. The coaches are patient, professional, supportive and actually care about YOUR wellbeing. Your workout should leave you feeling exhausted but good (not heading to the emergency room). The coaches at CFR are sticklers about good form so if you don't understand it's okay to ask questions. (You + Injury = No CrossFit) Finally, the members are extremely kind and supportive. I am constantly amazed by what I accomplish most mornings and how I keep changing physically and mentally in my workouts. This is directly attributed to the members and coaches at CrossFit Ridgecrest. I cannot praise CrossFit Ridgecrest highly enough.

I look forward to participating in our daily workouts because it gives me a chance to push myself and see what I can do. Working out with my friends at CrossFit Ridgecrest really is something I look forward to year round and I'm glad we found a place where I felt like I could make mistakes and get stronger but also meet people who are encouraging and motivating me to do better. They also provided alternative movements for me during my pregnancy and after I returned postpartum.

Instructors are super knowledgeable and the gym is very well-equipped. This is the only crossfit gym I've ever been to but from what I imagine, it is not your typical crossfit vibe, which I consider to be a good thing. Think less meatheads listening to heavy metal and more families trying to get in better shape and live healthy lives. It's nice to have something like this in Ridgecrest.
