Steak and Eggs, over Medium. Ribeye Steak, cooked Medium Well. Substitute fresh fruit for biscuits & gravy, AND a Perfect Pancake.....DRUMROLL....Under $20 plus tax......enough for 2 people, or 1/2 of EVERYTHING to go!Felix, one of the kitchen workers, and possible manager, was friendly, when he came out for a break. He took time to engage in a conversation with this old man.....me.Experience Cope's Knotty Pine, on the North Edge of Oildale...where Merle Haggard lived in a boxcar that his dad fixed it up real nice. You can see it at the historic and iconic Kern County Museum. Right down Chester, just a few minutes away!

I was in town for work and was looking for a nice breakfast place before I flew out. I came across this cute place on Yelp, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. This was a great choice! When I arrived there was a wait, and the parking lot was full, but because it was just myself I was able to walk in and get seated immediately at the bar by the nicest host. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage and I chose breakfast potatoes and a biscuit with gravy. This was So much food, but everything was delicious. To start off the breakfast potatoes were awesome. They had the perfect texture, perfectly seasoned and there were a lot of them. The sausage was also fantastic, it was perfectly season and I think it may be made in house but I'm not sure. Either way it was very good. My eggs were perfectly cooked and my biscuit was so flaky. What an amazing breakfast. I can't believe I got all of this for $14.61 before tip. If you are in town, please give this cute place a try. It is so worth it

The chicken and waffles were ok. Reason being is that the waffle itself was a little soggy and the chicken had very little flavor. The service was quick and friendly, the waitresses were attentive. The interior was giving country with all the wood furniture.

Great food, great servers, great vibes! Parking isn't the greatest but don't let that deter you because the food is delish! My only complaint was my side of scrambled eggs (not pictured) that wasn't scrambled enough & tasted too oily. Fortunately, the chocolate chip pancakes made up for it. The other entrees we ordered were also delicious. The hollandaise sauce for the eggs Benedict were thick but flavorful and my brother killed the French toast. Overall, this might be our new breakfast place despite the far location.

First time our Friday group has met at the Knotty Pine cafe. We had a comfortable table for 6 in the back dining area. Our waitress was friendly attentive and enjoyable she explained the extensive menu and answered all of questions. Our coffee were kept full and waters refilled without asking. All our orders, chili verde omelette French toast 2 senior scrambled & pancake's were brought out promptly. Everyone belonged to the clean plate club except for the CV omelette it was way to big. All the portions were generous and delicious my french toast was especially good. The prices were very reasonable, service very good the Knotty Pine Cafe hit a home runWe'll be returning

We decided to stop at Cope's for breakfast while on our road trip to Las Vegas. Did a quick yelp search and found them near the highway in Bakersfield. When we pulled up, the parking lot was full of local Bakersfield PD, so we knew it was going to be a good & filling meal.Walking into the restaurant you get a quirky & vintage vibe. There's hardwood everywhere, from the tables to the booths. Lots of milling tools and memorabilia were hung up along the walls, and local business cards & ads tucked underneath vinyl table covers. It was giving IYKYK energy and I loved it.The wait staff were incredibly friendly and warm. I ordered a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a generous helping of biscuits & gravy. The sausage patties were flavorful and had the right amount of spices to complement the butter-cooked eggs. The biscuit was fluffy and pillowy, perfect to dunk into the delicious gravy. Highly recommend stopping here for a bite if you're passing through the area!

I can't believe this is my first time here. I've been hearing about Copes for years. It is a quaint rustic coffee shop, serving breakfast & lunch. The staff is prompt & friendly even though they are very busy. They have a quite extensive menu of breakfast & lunch items. Breakfast is served all day. Their lunch menu looks excellent as well. I'll be back soon to try it out. What I like is that they offer many individual items if you don't have a big appetite. I order a biscuit with gravy and a side of sausage. The biscuit was cloud fluffy, the gravy was rich and peppery. The sausage was moist & spicy. The servings are generous. If you want delicious down home cooking this is the place to come.
