Coconut Joe's

Been here twice and it's delicious! The ambiance is cute. Service is great and food is amazing. Had the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and corn and a delicious banana cake! Definitely a new go to restaurant

Visited here on a whim since I always forget this place exists! It is nestled within a busy shopping center. The location is fun and fresh, it definitely gives tiki/ Hawaiian vibes! I had shrimp tacos with a side of corn and slaw. The tacos were fresh and delicious and perfectly seasoned. I enjoyed the slaw but the corn was a little bland. The staff were amazing. They were kind and upbeat despite the crazy lunch rush. The food runner was very friendly!

Quickie review ... Coconut Joes offers a beach-inspired atmosphere and a diverse menu. West Coast Style Shrimp & Lobster S-wich, cup of clam chowder and 3 battered shrimp gets a four-star rating, while the chicken rice and corn plate earned 2.5 stars., totally not worth buying again in my opinion, at least that day. The banana nut cake and chocolate cake, (comparable to sweet surrender and a Jake's Tex Mex cake ..) along with quick and friendly service, stood out as shining 5 stars in my experience.

We always enjoy this place whenever we go. The food is great, the service at the counter is always helpful and friendly, and the place is clean and fun. Love the tiki Hawaiian atmosphere because it reminds me of my dad who loved Jimmy Buffet. During our latest visit, we got the lobster roll, the tri-tip meat platter, the kids grilled cheese and burrito and a luau burrito. All of good but u wasn't partial to the corn and my little one said the kids burrito wasn't very good. Still, for the quality and price the place can't be beat. And try the banana cake! It's so delicious! Highly recommend!

The atmosphere was very beachy and pretty cool. They have a very large canoe hanging from the ceiling. It's like being at the cost here in town. The food was excellent. The lobster roll tray was big enough for two to share. The burrito has a sweet sauce we would have preferred to be left out. Everything was super good and made fresh to order. The ranch was delicious. Everything was very good and quick. The service was good you order as soon as you walk in and they bring the food to the table.

For the last 3 Friday nights, we have gone in to dine before 8 pm, and they are always out of lots of food. Last week was rice. Tonight was chicken, tri tip, and coleslaw. When we asked the young man in sun shades why, every Friday night, they are out of something over an hour before closing, and he responds, "Because people eat here" My husband asked me if I wanted to go somewhere else, and the young man puts out a smurk and says "Later"We love eating here every Friday night. But we will not be returning with customers service like this. Things are very expensive these days and we can't help that. But I don't have to tolerate being treated disrespectful when I am paying his salary.

Came in before a movie. You order at a counter, then they bring it out to you. I had the 3-piece chicken plate. It comes with 2 sides. I had the beans and the slaw. The beans can be a bit spicy as there are large pieces of jalapeño in them. The slaw is very good, I highly recommend it. It is very light. The chicken had good flavor and wasn't dry. Cute decor, very casual & country music in the background.

Love coming for the seafood. Love the fish and chips. I'm here for Lent all the time. The calm shower is definitely a go-to for lent as well. Their tri tip is pretty decent. Coconut Joe's was a treat when I was younger. I forgot all about it when I moved to Bakersfield. There are so many other places in Bakersfield now. Don't sleep on Coconut Joe's. It's still there. Delicious food. Come get it.

I have a love hate relationship with this restaurant. Service is always fantastic, and I am never disappointed in my food but I swear every time I come I try to order the dang gumbo and they are always out or not available. No joke prolly the past 4-5 visits same thing. I've never once gotten to try it. :( so for that aspect I'm docking you 1 star on this review. Aside from that though I've had lots of items here but my most recent visit I got the Huli burger, holy damn it was a tasty burger, the meat flavor was great and had a good char flavor. That grilled pineapple is what sets it off though. Great burger id definitely get it again, the fries are great. Also the price for the meal was very reasonable.

I had the fish and chips with the shrimp, the fish and the shrimp both locked in flavor. The batter was a little too thick because it wasn't completely done. It was soggy and not crunchy at all. We did die in so there shouldn't have been a reason for it to besoggy. The atmosphere was nice. The customer service is OK. I will try them again this time. I will order it to cooked a little longer
