Chalet Basque Restaurant

I have been to this location quite a few times and every time I have been there I have received nothing but excellent service, the food and drinks are always of the highest quality and the personel make every visit memorable. The bar area is a cool place to chill and have also had some great family diners in their dining area, overall recommend a visit for sure

During a road trip up to NorCal with some friends, we stopped in Bakersfield for gas and I suggested we get basque food for dinner. There are many options in Bakersfield and we opted for Chalet Basque since it was open later.Chalet Basque has a fairly large dedicated parking lot, but given that it was busy Valentine's Day we got one of the last two spots. We also got lucky getting a table without a reservation. Service was absolutely phenomenal with extremely friendly servers and was the highlight of the meal for sure.The restaurant was very rustic and lots of hearts were added for Valentine's Day. The dining areas are split into multiple rooms.As for the food, the oxtail dish was a bit cold and I have had better. They also failed to notify us that they had run out of stuffed mushrooms until the very end of the meal when we inquired why they had not arrived yet. The "setup" with all of the sides were plentiful, fresh, and very tasty though. Prices were also fair for the quantity of the food given.

I had the most incredible experience at Chalet Basque! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the warm ambiance and modern Basque charm. The bar is absolutely phenomenal--a perfect mix of creative cocktails and an impressive selection of wines and spirits. The bartenders are true artists, crafting drinks that are as delicious as they are visually stunning.The food? Unforgettable. The set up was beautifully presented, each bite bursting with authentic Basque flavors. The seafood was particularly fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced.The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, happy to recommend pairings and make sure we had the best experience. Whether you're coming for the bar, the food, or both, this place is a gem. Can't wait to go again!!

I was very pleasantly surprised by our recent visit to Chalet Basque. I hadn't been in several years after it seemed to go down hill for a long while. I'd heard there is new ownership, so decided to come in and give them another go. The service was quick and pleasant, and most of the food lived up to what we expect from Basque food in Kern County. I really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, my mother in law loved her fried chicken with garlic, and my husband said his pork chop was "okay." (I thought it tasted oddly fishy.) Everything else was very good.

My family and I have been regulars for over 30 years and the new ownership has brought back life to this hidden gem. We love the food and you're greeted like family when you come

My husband and I decided to give this place another try since new owner . But sadly still the same poor quality in food and service , it has went down since the change of ownership . Waitress don't even check up on you, or offer refills. Never going back there again . Seems as if regulars are more taken care. Step up your game chalet and give everyone the same respect and good service . Will be going to benjis from now on ,and never turning back. So sad this place was one of my favorites back then . We were always here booking big family dinners .Never again . If you plan to go here just know you'll be ignored only regulars here matter!!!! Very disappointing

The bartender, laycee is very friendly . Always knows what i want , pays attention to detail, she's a good person

I rarely leave reviews, but I had such a good time eating with my family that I felt obligated. I haven't eaten there in years but the food was excellent, service was on point, the beer and drinks were cold, and made just how I like them. Get the tomahawk steak and thank me later lol. Will definitely make this our new spot!

Food was excellent, lamb chops plus set up. Great bar service. Roxanne the bartender was awesome! Friday night live music is fun.
