Nice place, very peaceful. We have Some homeless sleeping but harmless. Great view and a great place to enjoy a book. Or chill.

This park for me has a feeling of nostalgia. My grandma used to take me here when I was a toddler to play and visit the ducks. Going back as an adult it's definitely changed , some for the better and some just unfortunate. I love the addition of the fountains and I love how it was relaxing and quiet for park . I love how you can see the museum's garden and I love how the play-area isn't very close to the street so kiddos don't get hurt . I had no idea it was a historic landmark so that was fun to read about . Ill be honest , the unfortunate I spoke of is all the litter in the water and around the park. I enjoyed my time here, I'll visit again .

I remember when this was unofficially called "The Bum Park." It was a place you generally avoided. Needles and other unsanitary items would litter the grounds. It just wasn't a safe place to be.Fast forward several decades and a few dollars later, the Bum Park has been transformed into Central Park at Mill Creek. The park runs along the canal, similar to many parks in Phoenix. It feels like a lush Oasis in the middle of Bakersfield. There are plenty of water fowl to watch and shade trees to relax under. If you're bored with that, the Bakersfield Museum of Art is right next door. It's a pleasant place to discover and I look forward to their future expansions!

It's funny that I have lived in Bakersfield now for 8yrs and at one point I had worked in downtown Bakersfield for 10yrs and never even knew about this park til recently.Funny that Pokémon was the reason I found out about this gorgeous park. The area is pretty big and they have tons of grass area for picnic, they have people fishing as they have a nice size lake in the middle of it all.The only reason I didn't give this park a 5star is because the park could be much more cleaner, but there's tons of trash being thrown everywhere and the garbage bins are just a few feet away from where things are thrown. On some days though, you can find the park to be really clean and beautiful. I do see a lot of people getting dolled up for pictures as the lake and scenery is gorgeous for pictures.Tons of PokéStops and Gyms for all you Pokémon trainers out there.

Unlike most of the parks you'll find that are proximate to DT Bakersfield, Central Park his a good number of large "heritage" trees. There are also a good number of waterfowl and lots of nice spots to enjoy a picnic.About the only complaint that comes to mind is that the water in this park is often dirty, and you'll even see a number of dead birds floating in it at times :-(Despite its imperfections, I think you'll find this park enjoyable, and well worth a visit.

This is an adorable little park located in downtown Bakersfield. I visited Central Park at Mill Creak with a friend recently and saw families out enjoying the park in spite of the chilly 55 degree weather. There is a large play structure that was swarming with kids with conveniently located benches for parents to sit and watch and even clean bathrooms. There is a large creek, though it didn't seem to be flowing, topped with a quaint little covered bridge (see pictures). There were ducks and coots everywhere being fed scraps of bread by children who were laughing and giggling at their antics. I'm not sure how nutritionally sound a diet of bread is for a duck, but the kids were happy and so were the ducks, so who am I to interfere?I've been told that there are farmers' markets and vendors that set up at this park, but I'll have to look into when they take place. My guess is during much warmer weather. It's very pleasant to walk through this park and there is ample parking available which is not usually the case so close to downtown. Think of it as a little green oasis in the middle of downtown.

A nice park located close to one of my favorite Mexican restaurants (La Costa Mariscos). It is a good place to go to after having lunch. Just walk some of those calories off here. Yeah, it's not going to be too much calories lost because the park is so small. It's located east of R St. between 21st and 19th streets. The facilities are fine. There is a play area for the kids with the customary slides and swings. The restrooms were not too bad considering it is a public park. There are some nice photo spots too. The covered bridge with the Mill Creek sign is really cool. It's great to see this park in downtown Bako!

Cute park. It looks like it was recently made or remade. All the playground equipment looks new. The slides are smaller for younger kids (ages 1-7yrs) but there are swings and monkey bars my kids loved as well. Lots of trees and lawn area. My husband and son played catch for awhile. The crowning jewel is the Creek/Pond. Its beautiful and there are a couple bridges and fountains. Very peaceful and calming. Lots of ducks and geese. All the waterways are fenced by a decorative fence. That makes it nice for families with younger children. No one would accidentally fall in. My daughter and I walked down the path quite a ways. It looks like it might go further into town but we didn't get too far.

I remember coming here so many, many times with my then young children. We would look behind smart and final, many times there was "old" bread for the taking. The kids loved feeding the ducks and the geese. After a while the homeless, the mentally ill and general duty drug addicts took this park over. Fast forward like eight years or so, they decided to build a federal courthouse next door. As they built the courthouse, this park got a make-over. They did a good job rebuilding this park. Part of the makeover was to get rid of much of the riff raff. My wife and I took some nice photos here on several occasions. There are not near as many water fowl as there were before. Hopefully they were relocated to a good spot. I have fond memories of my kids feeding the birds. Seems like so long ago:(.
