i mean it's a place to stretch your legs but I wish the place was cleaner. All the trash cans were overflowing and the bathrooms were rough.

The park is so nice and clean. There is a tennis court, basketball court, playground and bbq pits. There is a ton is shaded places to sit. Best part of the park is that it has a dog part. The doggies can go leash free and have fun. I just wish there was a walking track at the park. I like doing laps and there isn't a place to do that. Other than that it is a great park, such a hidden jewel in Bakersfield.

I'm here every week with my dogs. Great little fenced in spot with plenty of place for my energetic huskies to run. Water bowls, garbage cans, and benches dotted around the perimeter. Usually regulars will tie extra poop bags to the fence and bring bottles of water.Because this park is a sump, garbage can sometimes wind up at the bottom of the park, but it's maintained weekly and is usually pretty clean for a dog park. The one thing this place NEEDS desperately is more signage about the rules. Last Sunday, July 11, 2021 we arrived around 8am and found a group of about 20 boys and 4 coaches having football practice. Usually I wouldn't mind this type of thing and welcome the socialization for the dogs, but the kids were not properly talked to about respecting the dog park. One of the boys opened the fence gate and let both of my dogs out, who of course then bolted out into the busy street. I feel that this could have been avoided if there were proper signs about closing the fence and being mindful of the dogs. Especially because this dog park is just the small fenced in area of a larger park, I feel like they could play anywhere and dogs really just have this one spot.

4 stars for the dog park which is the only place we visited at Centennial. Been wondering about this place for awhile. Everyone we have spoken to in the past about it has called it a "mixed bag" of dogs and people.Clean, green, spacious, grassy and my pup loved it. But, she was playing with us and by herself as there were no other doggies on this Sunday afternoon! This surprised me as it was such a beauty day but it could be a timing thing. It differs from Kroll Park as that one is usually always busy enough. The area is definitely more to the east of us but we will for sure keep it in mind to return to.Love that the park is well kept (dog poo bags tied on fences shows people care to leave them but as always, not everyone uses them as they should!)Bring your own water for your dog, we did not see a tap and you may not want your dog drinking from any old, stagnant water in the bucket we saw.Loved the huge pine cones everywhere on the ground from the amazing, tall trees! Whoever zoned this park really kept the dogs in mind for the size of it, signage, gating and fencing. It is in great shape. It looks like it may have served as a ball park and a soccer field in the past.

Centennial Park offers a little something for all it's visitors, both the two footed and the four footed. There are two full basketball courts which were being used for pick up games the afternoon I was there. Two tennis courts and two horseshoe courts are also available for the sporty types. There is a large play area with plenty of equipment for the kids to climb on with sand below to soften falls and provide plenty of fun digging and piling. There are three areas with a large number of picnic tables and several barbecue grills at each which would be great for parties or family reunions. Many more individual picnic tables with barbecue grills are scattered around the park in the grass with large trees for shade. There are public restrooms handy to all of these areas.Best of all, there is a large sump area which has been fenced in and designated for use by people with off leash pets. There were at least five groups of people in this area with dogs throwing balls and letting their pets run free. There were plenty of people using the park, but it encompasses so much area that it didn't seem crowded at all. This is a great spot for an afternoon of family fun.

Love taking my German Shepherd here. He loves to run the hills while playing fetch and always leaves exhausted. There are never aggressive dogs here which is nice. The only down side is unlike many of the other dog parks There is no dog water fountain. But I bring his own bowel and water when we come here.

This is my go to dog park to bring Roxy. I found out about Centennial Park from a random Yelp search. I was a little apprehensive at first since Roxy is very iffy with other dogs. However, we're now a fan. The enclosed sunken field is HUGE. If Roxy needs her own space, we can move to our own corner of the park. I prefer to bring Roxy in the morning as there are less dogs. In the evenings (especially on weekends), there are a lot more big dogs and they got a little too crazy for Roxy. Late mornings on weekends there are people coming for soccer games. Your dogs can still run around at the top part of the sunken field closer to the fence, but if he/she is crazy like Roxy and wants to play soccer with the big people, you might have to take him/her home. The dogs and people here are very friendly. You feel welcome even though this is your first time here. I would make the trek here all the time even though we live all the way across town.

Took my kids to this park. I really liked this park, it's a pretty big. They have an enclosed field that's a leash free zone for dogs, enjoy seeing the dogs being able to run around freely. Nice basketball courts/area, a really good spot to ball up. The kids playground area was really nice too. They have a small playground area for the really little ones and a larger playground with a rather tall structure, it's multi-level with a few slides. I had to go on it, felt like a kid again I loved it lol. It has swings too, those are always fun. Definitely coming back here again when I'm in the area with my kids.

The absolute best , for homeless people , drug actively , poison food in dog park for your dogs , always full poop can , never any poop bags , condoms , needles , constant garbage in parking lot and BBQ area , never ending , and yet theres 3 city trucks parked by the bathrooms and 1 ranger.... every day , give this park to NOR , they ARE in the park business. Was the premier park in this area , now just a slum thanks to the freeway , great work city of bake , great work.
