My family and I have been coming here for four years now. It's sublime. Right on the sand!! It just doesn't get better than that. We always get a first floor unit, so we can just walk right out onto the sand to the ocean. It's truly bliss. The condos are great, beach friendly, and really all you need. Also all you have to do is park your car and keep it parked because you can walk everywhere. Little story, two years ago, we thought we'd try another place just to see. Well, it was terrible and two days in I called Carp Shores and they said "Come on over. We have a condo for you!" Can't wait to be back this summer! So thankful for the no smoking on the balconies policy, that was the only bummer for us:))

I can't comment on the condos themselves because we had to cancel our January reservation due to first fires and then mudslides. But I can say that the management was first class all the way. They stayed in touch with us throughout and refunded our complete deposit even though we were past the cancellation period, Due to the unusual situation. I understand they made it through undamaged and I'm looking forward to trying again next year.

My family recently stayed at Carpinteria Shores for three days after a trip up to the Sierra Nevada. We wanted to find a place in Carpinteria that was close to the beach, restful, and low maintenance. We found that and more at Carpinteria Shores. Before our arrival, I received an email letting me know that the condo would be ready any time after noon and we were welcome to come early. We arrived around 3 and our check in was very smooth. Heidi and Jim are very nice and were willing to accommodate us at every turn. We checked in and then sat comfortably on the beach for the next three days! Heaven! The day before check out, Jim told us that since no one would be checking in after us, we might as well stay the day. That was such a help, as no one wanted to leave and it was going to be very difficult to check out at the appointed time of 10am. The condo we stayed in had everything you could imagine needing; we could have cooked a Thanksgiving meal there, if we had to, the kitchen was so stocked. All the information regarding the check out was clearly stated in the hand book that we were given at check in. Since we had just rented an RV and were required to clean it from top to bottom before we left it, I thought cleaning up the dishes and taking out the trash was the absolute minimum we should do. Although we haven't received our deposit back, since it was so recent, I would be very surprised to not receive the full amount. Our stay was simply lovely and I highly recommend Carpinteria Shores.

We spent a week here over 4th of July. Although the property has a great location, our unit had some issues. We were the first guests of a newly renovated #308. When we arrived to check in, they told us that our unit was not quite finished. We were told of several projects that were still to be completed during our stay. Things like shower door installation, furniture additions, and a new refrigerator. They stated they had been up until 2 am finishing the tile in the bathroom. The real problem started later the evening. We found out that while we took showers, it rained in the condos below us. Management had a plumber out quickly. They thought they had the problem fixed and he left. This was at 11pm local time, 1am our time, and we had been traveling since 5am our time. To cap off the night, we had to get replacement sheets because they had included the wrong sizes for our bed. It was a very long day.The next day, the shower was leaking again. They provided a key to an vacant condo for us to use for the shower and said it would be the next day before they would try to fix our shower. The shower was finally fixed that next day. This was very inconvenient.Other minor problems: several calls for missing kitchen equipment, no smoke detector until we pointed it our. Wifi was spotty at best. It worked OK in the living area but not so much in bedroom. They did give back all the security deposit and did give us a small (less than 1 night) refund for all the trouble.Overall, it don't think this property is a very good value. You are really paying for the location. The view was nice, except for the oil rigs just off shore. They do provide some supplies to remove the tar from your feet from the beach. Some fun things to do are the Thursday Farmers Market on Linden and a day kayaking trip to the Channel Islands.

You're basically paying an arm and a leg for the view, cause the accommodations are far below the price point. I've had better views in Hawaii for less! I was there for 2 months when the fires and mudslides occurred. Unfortunately for me, I was nice enough to not ask for a discount, but what really irked me is that I had asked for a particular day to move out and they said "sure that's fine" and only at the moment that I moved out, they handed me an invoice for extra days. My deal with them was based on a monthly price so I had no idea that they would charge me for the extra days or how much it would cost. I pleaded with them that had I known I would have found a way to move out earlier. Sadly they were too greedy to accept that they failed to communicate the terms for my request and took the money out of my security deposit. A similar thing happened with my previous rental in Carpinteria. The landlords are extra greedy over there. Beware!

Sadly I no longer live in Calif and it's been a few years since I've been here. I have to say it's our favorite vacation spot! Right on the beautiful beach! We had rented a unit numerous times when I lived in Calif. Why not enjoy a fabulous spot in your own state. I can find nothing negative to say about the property. Units are smaller but who's at this beach to sit inside? Great location, awesome beach, great staff and a quick drive to Santa Barbara to also enjoy their Sunday Beach walk of amazing artists etc. I highly suggest this property. Can't wait to visit

BE CAREFUL if you stay here! Make sure to read the VERY FINE print about cleaning up the apartment when you leave. They charge a cleaning fee but then take around $150 from your deposit for 'extra cleaning fees' if you don't take out the trash, make the beds and put the dishes away. I have no idea what the cleaning fee is actually for as you have to do it all yourself. I am also not sure why they don't just collect more up front... it's as if they want to 'get you.' And I'm sure I'm not the first one to complain, it would do them good to just charge more upfront so you know what you're in for. Heidi who seems to manage the front desk was pleasant when we were booking and then became more rude over the time I was trying to understand not getting my deposit back and also never returned my phone calls/emails inquiring about this until I called from a different number (she was possibly screening my calls). The place was ok and the price seems to be right for the type of accommodations but the service was horrible for us and again, beware of cleaning fees.
