Been coming to Camp Kernville for 10 years now and this was the most friendliest staff we have encountered. Kuddos to Nikki.....she was amazing and helpful. She went above and beyond and made our stay fantastic for the things she was able to help us with. She even helped me jump start my car battery that was dead!! The grounds crew, the office staff, the owner...thanks for making our stay one of the best ever and YES...we were there during the fires but we weren't affected by the air quality at all. Our dates of travel were July 29-Aug 2. BTW....the fishing was also the best we have ever had. We caught lots of trout, lots of crawfish, lots of huge carp, and a catfish. Laura Maxwell

We had nice large spots with shade trees, short walk to the river. There was a bunch of people so we were worried about the noise level, especially at night and early in the morning.... There were no issues. Staff was welcoming and friendly! Very clean and tidy.... We will be back

Here is another review of our recent trip to Camp Kernville for Memorial Day Weekend. I dont leave many reviews on businesses. I reserve my reviews for places I really enjoy but needs improvements, with the understanding that change only comes from public reviews. As I have mentioned before, this campground is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and everyone works hard at making sure the camping experience is fully enjoyed. There have been several improvements made to the campground over the last year, many due to the flood in 2022. I had the privilege of talking to the owner a couple of times over the weekend. He is a great man with big ideas for the future of the campground. Some of the improvements included a new dog park that is much closer to the campground center and has nice large shade trees. There are many great things about Camp Kernville. Needless to say, the location is probably one of the best things offered. Clean, sandy, beach front, with lost of white water rafting to watch. My downfall here is the cost. Every year, we tell ourselves we will not pay these prices again...and every year we have such a great time the we rebook. Just when I was getting used to the idea of $650....they increased the rates. Now $750 for the exact same camp site, except now there's no water hook ups and we need to fill our water tanks and run off the pump. This is a very minor inconvenience, but for $750 you would expect FULL hookups. To be fair, they did offer a 10% discount for booking Memorial Day 2025. Admittedly, the 10% hurts a little knowing the week before Memorial Day Weekend they ran a special for 50% off all campsites for Memorial Weekend. Keep in mind that when we were paying $500, there were no open spots for the weekend. Anyway, this will be my last review on Camp Kernville. We will continue to complain about the cost as we walk to the office to rebook for next year. We love going to Camp Kernville and look forward to it every year. I do wish the owners would consider, at the very least, two things: 1) reduce to a 3 night minimum like all of the other campgrounds in the area. 2) Complete the repairs of the broken water system. For $750, all services should be offered....with exception to the sites that might be too close to the river for sewer connections. See you next year.

After the floods of 2022, all campgrounds along the Kern River took a hit, some with major damage. We had been loyal customers of the campground Rivernook, but when they jumped their prices from $65 per night to $125, we decided to see if we could find a campground that was more reasonable. Camp Kernville quoted us a price of $90.00 per night; the campground looked good and in a good location so we decided to give it a try. There were 4 couples going originally in April 2024. Unfortunately, one of our group members had to have open heart surgery and collectively we decided to postpone the trip using the "raincheck" option available. The option only allowed a rebook within a 6 month period; we had to book before the end of September. When rebooking we were told that the six month period fell into the high season rates (May 1st-Oct. 1st) and we would have to pay the additional cost. Our cost for 3 day stay went from $360 to $430.00! The price had increased to $150 per night (they gave us a $20.00 credit). I know costs have risen, but this seemed exorbitant for a campground with no water or sewer hookups. (They do offer someone to come and fill up your water tank and a sewer dump site, but not at the campsite.). So my review is based on the following: ....Customer Service - 5 stars. Jennifer was extremely helpful, kind and considerate and went the extra mile to make our stay pleasurable. She even came to our site to see if we needing anything. Excellent customer service.....Location - 5 Stars. This camp ground is within walking distance to the town, stores and restaurants. It's quiet and it's right along a very nice section of the Kern River. ....Campground - 5 Stars. The campground is clean, the sites were nice (some a little hard to get into with a larger rig), restrooms clean and we were right on the small beach area.....Cost - 3 Stars. This is where, as they say, the rubber hits the road. We have never paid this much for a campsite! I understand the cost of operations makes it necessary to charge more, but the cost will deter us from booking again next year. It would have been nice, if the rebooking time period could be extended for a year...the six month period does make it difficult to rebook within the same season rates. Overall, our stay was nice. The campground was not full and we pretty much had our section to ourselves.
