California City

I wanted to give more stars so I even asked around and talked to a friend that lives there. Just not many good things to say. It is a city incorporated in 1965. It is located in northern Kern County about 100 miles north of Los Angeles. Unless you live there or have family there you probably don't have a reason to go. In the 1950-1960's real estate developers thought this land was going to make millions and parcels were subdivided and they advertised that this was going to be the place of dreams. People bought into it and i actually have a relative that was one of them. There is so much to this story and if you listen to podcasts. Listen to "California City the dark side to the American dream" it tells a crazy story of what went down. It will explain it better than me. I think the only thing it has going for it right now it has a dispensary. Not much shopping or restaurants.** My great Yelp friend Larry reminded me a prison was built here. So a dispensary or a prison are your choices.
