"I am sitting in the restaurant as I write this review. This place doesn't look like much, but you will be impressed by their food. This is my third time here in less than a month. Our first visit we happened to order fried yucca with chicharones: it was the best my wife and I have ever had in the US. We ordered the same thing on our second visit and it wasn't as delicious as our first visit, but it was still pretty good. I came in tonight, hoping to repeat my first experience here. We have also enjoyed the fajitas and the pupusas. I think their pupusas are amongst the best in Bakersfield. I ordered two of those for dinner tonight (and it's likely I will have one leftover for lunch tomorrow.)This place is worth the visit."
"There menudo on a cold winter day is genuinely the best thing ever. Food, staff, and vibe is nice and cozy. You feel like you're sitting in your abuelas kitchen"
"First here . Run by a very helpful lady and we had some really delicious food . Pupusa were amazing and grilled chicken was very very good . Since they prepare food fresh be patient. They have a great menu and I am sure you will like it .It is next to pieology ."
"It feels like I'm walking through the neighborhoods of my childhood. The food, the people, the colors, the conversations, I've loved coming here more and more each time. Home, as in my home here in town, home in my childhood, home in our neighborhoods in our family's countries. It feels like home."
"My go to for pupusas. Revueltas are fire!!!Good price and they have fresh baked bread."
"Y'all! DON'T SLEEP ON THIS! Best pupusas in town! Best Salvadoran tamals in town!I stumbled on this place while checking to see if there were any "new" pupusa spots in the area. I am so happy I didn't turn around when the directions led me into a parking lot for a car wash. Came in and was greeted warmly. Service was great. There are about 5 tables inside and luckily for me, I was able to grab an empty one. Vibe I ordered 1 chicken tamal, 1 shrimp pupusa, 1 chicharron pupusa, plantains & beans, and a horchata. My bill, before tip, was $23! The chicken tamal was amazing! This little Salvadoran restaurant is fire! Definitely worth the drive for this!"
"Delightful pupusas outside in the sunshine! My husband had a cheese & pork papuda, and I had a cheese one with a full lunch plate. Because we were curious, we ordered a loroco one, having never heard of this plant. It was the best one! And we learned a new word!"
"Good food and great customer service. Try the bailadas and the pollo con tajadas, they are the best in Bakersfield."
"I've been looking for a good pupusa spot and let me tell you that is the bomb. The pupusas are hot, tasty and good size. They have a variety of options. The service is friendly and very humble. I usually order ahead and when I get there my food is ready to go home with me."
"So my girlfriend took me here because she said she used to come here in her childhood and I'm so glad she took me for the papusas. They were sooo good. So apparently there's three styles (queso :just cheese, mixsta: beef, cheese and beans, she forgot the name of the third one but it's frijoles y queso (beans and cheese) ). We got mixta and put some cortido( mixture of vegetables)on top and the server gave us some salsa. Sadly I didn't get any pictures because I was to excited to eat but we got one each because we weren't too hungry and they were ONLY 5.50 WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTE STEAL. Overall I'd definitely recommend the papusas given I haven't tried anything else. Just a bummer it's so far away from where I live though."
"The pupusa are full of flavor, and 1 is just enough to fill up. Comes with the salsa and the cabbage. I ordered the mixed pupusa, which had beans, cheese, and chicharones. So filling. We also ordered the chicken tamale, and the masa tasted good and was soft enough to let the baby taste a little. Very clean, and our waitress was very attentive. She was a joy to speak to."
"I ordered for the first time after seeing this place on Yelp for some time. I tried pupusas: revuelta & queso con loroco. They were both very good and a good size. I also tried their atole de elote which was so comforting and delicious. I had never had a canoa before and very much enjoyed it. I like that neither the atole or the canoa were overly sweet. Everything was perfect!"

I have not been here in several years but I remember it being pretty good so I'm going to give a 4 star just offer that but today if anything changes I'll change my rating. Well I just have a chicken soup and it was 5 star!

First the food: A good place for Pupusas, great variety. 3.00 for a Pupusa! Everything else is a bit overpriced and the quantities are small. The service is adequate, nothing to write home about. The ambiance: 8 small booths, two tables...nothing great.Details: The Sopa was like warm. The Atole de Maíz was watery. The Asada Kachimbon plate was very small and expensive.Except for the Pupusas, I cant recommend this location.

We've come here for a second time so that means it's good enough to Yelp about it. As with the other reviews, the host is very nice and attentive. She has a wonderful attitude and speaks both Spanish and English fluently. Expect a wait because they make the food fresh! We had the Revuelta and Queso Pupusas along with the Carne Asada dinner. Both were very tasty and fresh. The Curtido was very good and the different types of salsa were spicy and tasty. Give this small business a shot and see for yourself why Bakersfield can handle yet another Salvadorian restaurant.

We ordered menudo and a chorizo breakfast burrito with a agua fresca (chia cucumber lemonade). Everything tasted homemade. Our delivery order was well packaged with all the herbs, salsas and limon. The burrito was good, but the menudo was extra good!

Fun restaurant addition to the mountain! I appreciate having another food option that isn't pizza or burgers. The food from El Tesoro was very good, maybe a bit fried/greasy but it's fine to have every now and then. The first time we ordered was interesting.. we couldn't get through on the phone so had to go place the order in person. Came back 20 minutes later to pick up the food. Almost everything was correct - however our order of pastelitos de papa had only 1 with papas (potatoes) and the other two were with carne (meat). Good thing our guests ate meat and nothing went to waste. Flavor was good so we'll be back again, especially for the pupusas and yucca!

Please see Google Reviews!!! My review is too long to type up again, but in a nutshell, I'd give this place 0, or negative, stars if I could. Staff is friendly, that's pretty much their only quality. Last time I was there, their fruit salad drink had began the fermentation process, because of the pineapple in it. It literally had become an alcoholic beverage. I can still smell and taste it! Also, the owner has been threatning me, because his star review has gone down due to my one-star score. Food is mediocre, sanitary practices are non-existant, and service is good, at least to your face. I've heard the waitresses say horrible things about non-tipping patrons, and even about their regular customers who choose not to tip for takeout orders. I wouldn't go back, even if they paid me, and it's sad, because my husband and I had our wedding reception there almost five years ago. They screwed us over with what they claimed was our guests' alcohol consumption that day. The owners and some of the staff are NOT decent human beings.

"The pupusas are very good. No problem with the service, they are very polite. I read some reviews and most of them are about the employees/owners, but I think their food is good. Will continue to go there for pupusas and plátanos fritos."
"Amazing food, RIDICULOUS wait times. I literally waited 35 minutes for 5 freaking pupusas. And I ordered them to go..."
"Good portions and the food was tasty. The price is fair for the portions you get. It's a small restaurant in the middle of Palmdale blvd. They open 10-6pm except Monday that is closed. Beware that on Tuesday and Friday pupusas are $1.40 so you must pay with cash or you will get a $2.50 card fee. I called in my order to go and was quoted 30min, I arrived within that timeframe and my food was ready.Would come back again!"
"Good Pupusas. But only problem is that when you order online or call in for pick up allowed yourself an extra 20 to 30 minute from the time they tell you."
"Quick SummaryFreshly and hand-made pupusas were so good here! No frills but excellent service and great food at great prices! Lots of parking availableFood- 5 starsPupusa- tried the loca (includes everything), the ayote and queso and chicharon y queso. The pupusas are freshly made and are the star of the show. My favorite was the ayote and queso (squash and cheese)carne asada taco- really enjoyed the fresh tortillas here. the carne asada was good; would skip on the shrimpYuca Frita con Chicharron- this was pretty good as wellService- 5 starsNo frills spot but the waitresses were very attentative. Takes about 15 minutes to get the food ready, which is worth it because they make it from scratchBottom LineSolid local spot for some authentic El Salvadorian food. The pupusas are fantastic!"
"The pupusas are delicious. The beans are super flavorful!! There is a little wait of around 20-30 minutes for your food, but they are making your pupusas right there. From the little window, you can watch the senora making the food fresh. We got the pupusa especial (two pupusas and rice and beans), an extra pupusa, the quesadilla pan dulce, and a jamaica. We got a revuelta (pork and cheese), frijole (bean and cheese), and loroco (squash blossom and cheese). Of the three, the s tier was the loroco. It's has an almost meaty flavor and is super flavorful. The cabbage and salsa were also tasty. The quesadilla pan dulce is like a corn pound cake. It's really yummy!!This is a nice stop on your way between the bay and la. There's a covered picnic area that is nice. There are only hand washing stations, but there are a lot of gas station around it, so you can wash your hands and use the restroom around here!! Highly recommend this as a stop!!"
"Wow these were the best pupusas I've had. The cordita and salsa was perfect too. $7 for two pupusas which comes with salsa and cordita. Very nice owner/ operator. They have outdoor seating. It's right next to McDonald's which I'd suggest skipping and go here. You'll love it. Good people and good food."
"Got there around 4 pm and was greeted by Jimena. I was given the choice of any table because there was only one other family. When ordering I asked Jimena her opinion on the "Happy Hour" appetizers and was guided to try the yuca and chicharrón. Definitely recommend it. The yuca was not soft but not overly cooked. The crunch on them was perfect. The outer core of the chicharrón was crispy but the inside was very juicy. I also had 2 pupusas revueltas. I only finished one and the other became my dinner. The Pupusa was full of flavor and was not greasy. The curtido was also very fresh and had a chilled sweet pleasant spicy taste to it."
"If you're looking for good homemade pupusas that are filling, this is the place to go. Vos Pupusas is homemade fast food style housed in a restaurant. We stopped by for dinner on a Monday after work and almost all the tables were full. We ordered pupusas and an appetizer. The pupusas are large and one was more than enough for me. Everything was made fresh to order and the cabbage was delicious! The service was good even though they were busy. I didn't feel like we were being rushed out either when we had finished eating. They're located outside of the mall by chipotle and there's plenty of parking. There was one drawback, if I didn't have someone with me who spoke English there might have been a language barrier. I will come back when I have a pupusas craving!"
"Service is always great and make it accessible to call the order in and typically ready within 15 minutes. The pupusas are made fresh when you order them. I think great value for the portion of the pupusa(s). They accept card, and cash. The staff are friendly and the place is located inside a store that is easily accessible with parking outside or near the sidewalk area. They also recently added vegan pupusas. Staff is friendly and accommodating when orders are placed as a big order was placed to cater for an event."
"Best pu pu pu pupusas on the I-5! When traveling, I'd take pupusas over In-N-Out any day. Yes, I just said that and I'm from California too. Oh boy, don't kill me hardcore fans.I've been coming here for over a decade and finally just now taking a minute to showcase them.. not like they really need it. They're the best around town and people know it. Tita's used to have an actual restaurant way in the back AND a food truck in front of AM/PM, but the restaurant didn't offer much more. The restaurant isn't there anymore, but the food truck still is. Anyway, the ambiance of the food truck is way better. Open outside seating under a shaded covering. Which means dog friendly! These are the best pupusas ever!! Why?1. They are grilled to crispy perfection.2. They are FATTIES, loaded with gooey cheese and filling.3. The dough to filling ratio is perfect. The dough isn't too thick or dense.Calabaza Pupusa (Squash) 5/5*Loroco Pupusa (Loroco Flower) 5/5*I can never remember which one I like more, so I always order both! Both are extremely cheesy and will ooze out once you cut into it. There are nice bits of squash or loroco flower that give some texture. The flavor is on the bland side, but paired with curtido and salsa, it's perfecto..Revuelta Pupusa (Chicharron) 4/5*These aren't the fat chunks of chicharron you eat as a snack. It's minced down and scattered throughout the cheese and isn't very strong in pork flavor. However, you do get a bit of saltiness that you don't get in the Calabaza or Loroco. Not my favorite but it's the only pupusa choice with meat.Tacos 5/5*These street tacos come with handmade fluffy, soft corn tortillas, loaded with your choice of protein, the works-cilantro, onion, with sides of lime, radish, red salsa, and a green guacamole type salsa. I got the tripa and asada and both were juicy with great flavors.Sausage Breakfast Burrito 5/5*I thought this would be subpar, but wow was it satisfying! It was huge and evenly distributed, so you get a good mouthful of all ingredients in each bite. The flour tortilla was soft and meat wasn't dry.As soon as you place your order, you hear the ladies inside the truck slapping them around, so you know they're made fresh to order. The pupusas come out SO hot and crispy, once you cut into one, the scalding hot gooey cheese oozes out and burns a layer of your lips off. But it's soo worth it. Cool it down with the sweet & sour refreshing crunch of curtido, slather on some spicy salsa, and you have the perfect bite.Next time you're passing Buttonwillow, do your tastebuds a favor and try these amazing pupusas. The exit isn't very obvious with the signage so probably best to Google Maps your way there. There are also two other food trucks around selling pupusas, etc., but don't get confused and make sure you're going to Tita's. You can tell which one by the crowds of folks eating at the tables."
"El Ranchito, is a cute red tablecloth checkered Salvadorian diner located in The Mercado Latino Plaza on Edison Hwy. They have everything from marinated steak, seasoned sautéed shrimp, fried fish to tamales, chicken, fried bananas and my favorite Papusas!I tried the cheese Papusas. It was my first dine at this restaurant and it was delicious. The buttery notes I detected in the Papusas were quite a surprise. I wanted more but I could only eat two! Their Papusas are modestly priced at 2 Papusas for $6 served with cabbage, chips and salsa. The owner, who is a delightful man named Jose created the Papusas fresh, and also made me a Michelada. Now, I am very selective on Michelada's. There is really only one place that I love and trust to make a Michelada authenticate. I have to say he did it! Michelada with a touch of flame flavor, to lemony notes, tamarindo, and clamato served with a premium beer. And here's the surprise... At a small cost of only $5.95! I usually pay $8 at the other restaraunt I love. I give this place a YES! I will definately be back."
"This has been my second time coming to this restaurant and from all the Salvadoran restaurants I. The Antelope Valley, this one is at the top. The service was friendly and the food was delicious! It's a diamond in a rough. But don't take my word for it, come try it yourself. - Your fellow Foodie"
"I am so glad we didn't let the negative comments sway us from trying this place. This place will definitely be on our favorites place from now on. We ordered the sopa de pata, yucca con fritada, bandeja la buena vida, and 2 drinks: arrayan, and marañon. Everything was so delicious! I am super picky and this place did not disappoint. It all tasted very much like my mom's cooking. The yucca was crispy and soft. The tamale's masa was flavorful. The sopa was full of meat and veggies. Definitely worth trying. Please give this place a try. Side note: All menu prices have a 3.99% increase if you pay with a card."
"I wanted some pupusas and this location got the job done. As someone who does not speak Spanish, I wish they had a better menu that explained all the flavors they offered for pupusas. The menu is in Spanish and the workers I encountered spoke limited English. They were a nice size with good flavor. The shopping center it is located in is very sketchy so beware of your surroundings."
"Excellent service. The food is delicious and they make hand made tortillas. I have the camarones a la diabla and the sauce was very tasty and spicy"
"Arroz con pollo and an empanada were delicious. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable."
"Visited Cafe Y Pupuseria for the first time today. They had the best Pupusas served with a fantastic pickled cabbage and sauce. We tried the bean and cheese, jalapeño and zucchini, and the revueltas. They were flavorable, the perfect texture and nicely grilled. The service was excellent and the price was great. We will return and are looking forward to trying other menu items. Cash only."
"I was craving a popusa and came across this little gem. Wow! All I can say is don't miss out and give this place a try. Authentic and delicious! Very attentive and quick service. Will be coming back soon."
"STOP....Here!!! That's right, book mark it on your way from I5. Perfect location, near freeway, safe, gas stations nearby. Need Starbucks...just a block away also. Very clean. So, this Mexican food truck offers delicious food and very economical. Great service. Covered eating area with benches. Also a spot to wash your hands after finger licking meal. They have everything you'll desire for a meal or appetizer. MUCH better than a chain restaurant. I'm a fan and I've stopped off at least ten times."
"Best homemade tortillas and food, great friendly service and clean restaurant in California! What a gem!"
"Whenever I'm craving a good pupusa I come here!! We always get the mixed ones, and they're so gooey and toasted on the outside. If you're looking for some delicious home made tasting food this is the place! The fried banana with creama is a MUST. Bananas cooked perfectly and not too mushy. If you want to try something slightly different try their horchata it's soo good but remember it is different. Also! Their tortillas are THICK but so good, it's a Salvadoran style tortillas. The customer service is impeccable, our waitress Marlene was amazing, greeted us with a smile, took our order and then made sure everything was okay!"
"We've been coming here for years for our pupusa fix and they never disappoint! I love getting the pupusas revueltas. They are a decent size, so I normally end up eating about 2.5 pupusas. We have only ordered to-go and never had issues with our orders."
