"Great experience from the moment of check in! The woman in the office was very welcoming and took very good care of us. She was very pleasant and professional. I've been here twice before but never seen the entire space until this recent visit. Previously, I didn't think the place was too special since I'd only ever seen the section near the front. I absolutely love the river front RV section! There are also clean restrooms and showers close by. Can't wait to come back!"
"This place is amazing! Easily open and close for years so quiet, most people here are permanent. If you guess overnight, we've been here for a few months now. The staff here is amazing! I've worked with us every step of the way for everything we needed! Heading out in a few weeks will be back!"
"I only visited here to dump my RV waste tanks after cleaning them. The location is clean and maintained. If you arrive after hours, there is a sign to pay before you dump, which is easy and straightforward."
"My first time camping at Kern River's Edge Campground and I'd come back here again, despite the few hiccups. My friends called and obtained last minute reservations a week before our scheduled trip. Thank goodness they had a spot available. Campsites here are slightly more pricey than other areas, but well worth it for the "extras". We arrived late and did NOT have a welcome package waiting for us at check-in station, therefore we had to figure out the code to drive into the first gate. We're smart cookies and figured out the code, of course. Once we found our site, the camp host greeted us 30 min to 1 hour later. Forgetting the guys name, but he was friendly, talkative and easy going. Campsite comes with a picnic table and fire pit and room to park 2 cars. LOVE the flushing toilets, running water from the sinks as well as the coin operated showers here (so don't forget to bring quarters). Running river nearby with a game area (giant connect four) out there too. As I'd take my family to come glamping here soon."
"Great place to stay if you are in the area. Very clean with full hookups. Shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Also, there is a host on-site. We stayed for a few days and found it to be a very nice stay. Be aware it is way out from anywhere."
"We stayed there for 4 nights and even wanted to extend but they were full.I understand that it's not easy to get them on the phone sometimes but keep trying , it's worth it!!!We started up as 3 Familes going there and end up being 7 Familes for the long weekend and we had best time with memories that will last for years.Through out the day the kids enjoyed the beach area down the river and the jet ski rides (highly recommend to bring one!) And during the night we , the adults, enjoyed the ring fire and the quiet to gather all and have fun.We had many kids with us and we felt it's super safe to go around with bikes there, most of the people our super Frind Friendly and driving slow.We should definitely be back there next year!"
"This campground is an awesome and beautiful location with terrible management. I have camped in hundreds of campgrounds across the USA, and this is the most expensive campground. It's $85 a night in summer, and that only includes 2 people. Add a few kids ($5 each/day), dogs ($5 each/day) and extra adults ($15 each per day), you can easily pay over $125 per night to camp in sites with patchy grass full of stickers. Bathrooms are dirty, lots of spiders, and you have to take your own trash to the dump which is overflowing and crawling with bugs. In summer, when everyone is cranking their AC, the voltage can be weak and it can damage your RV.I've been coming here for 40 years and it makes me so sad to see how the management is charging insane prices and the place is falling apart. If you don't already love Kings River, go find another campground. They make you check in between 3-6pm and charge extra if you come in early. The only reasonably priced thing is the ice, which is $5 a bag. Skip this campground. It's not like the old days."
"My husband a powerline worker was transferred here for work. We get here and about 5 more powerline workers live here. We lived here in 2012 and we never had any problems with anyone. Yes it's not a resort, but they have spots for 42ft long 5th wheels and the manager Angie is super nice. We are here for work, not for a vacation."
"My very close friend and family member live in Willow Springs. Both are very happy with this Mobil home park. They both live in an RV and love the big spaces they provide. My friend has a great out door area for her kids. It's safe and very quiet. Everybody for the most part minds their own business. The manager is very nice and just stays to herself. Rent is $475 a month and that includes trash and water. There is a pool, community center and laundry available for the residents. You can rent out the community center for a 50$ deposit. I have been in the community center for quarter auctions, it was a big room to the right and smaller one to the left. I love the view of the windmills when I'm driving down the road to get to my friends. When I have been here it always is clean and kept up. They both said they would absolutely recommend this place."
"This is a long time RV park that has some full timers. Have stopped here several times and found the park always to be well kept and safe. Had not stopped for about ten years but this time I again found the park a nice stop. Roadways are dirt, the pool is not heated, but the staff are very helpful and friendly. Most of the back in spots are 30 amp as they are part of the original park. They have added 7 new drive thru sites with 50 amp and water. No sewer hookup but there is a dump station. The restrooms and showers are old but spotlessly maintained and very clean! Lots of hot water for your shower. This park accepts Passport America so it makes a great discount on the already very fair rates. Easy access to either SR 58 or SR 14. The property looked in better shape than it did the last visit. Grass around a number of sites and the sites clean and level."
"We are back! It's amazing how much work the new owners have done, the place looks great! New changes include a new dog park, shaded parking spots and a smoke free property!"
"I stayed at Suncrest for a little over a year. Most of the tenants are long time residents of the park and take great pride in keeping everything nice, in and around the park. There was no drama whatsoever during my time there. If you like to party and have drama in your life, don't move here. The people in this park deserve better and the managers will rightfully make you leave. Everyone was quiet and respectful of the other tenants which made up for the road noise from Rosedale Highway. The pool was never crowded. I only had to wait for a drier once after washing clothes. The owner Elizabeth and the current managers Lyn and Shawnee are really wonderful people. I have to move out of state and hate to do so because I can't imagine where I'm moving to being as nice as Suncrest."

We stayed here on our travels up to Yosemite and it worked but if I be a choice I would probably choose somewhere else. It was clean and check in was fairly easy. They had a lot of COVID forms to sign, which is understandable. You are extremely close to your neighbors here and it is basically just a parking space with hookups. There are also some very loud residents. I was listening to a very loud argument at 2 in the morning as I was nursing my baby. Again, it was a place to park, but there's got to be better options out there.

Wow! This place was so relaxing. I came here with my husband and two dogs in mid June. There was a lot of construction on the street you need to take (Gibson) and its through an industrial area. The park was about half full. Upon arrival, the welcome package was taped to the door. We got it ourselves and went to our site. The welcome map contained all the usual information and all sorts of tips and suggestions for places you can go.All sites are very spacious with full hook-ups and beautiful green grass. I couldn't get our Directv to work because we were blocked by trees but this place had awesome wifi. I was able to connect my Smart TV to it and we streamed all kinds of stuff. The park was large and although there was no dedicated dog park, there were several grassy spaces to walk around. The pool was great. We took our dogs into the area. I'm not sure if we were allowed but no one else used the pool while we were using it, so it seemed ok. Most people staying here were adults. I think that contributed to the relaxing atmosphere. One other thing I want to highlight is the fact that this place has control of their sprinklers. Most places just turn them on and have them spray all over the place and all over your stuff. These groundskeepers have all sprinklers perfectly aimed at the target areas. None of our stuff got wet and no water was wasted. Great job!I highly recommend this place if you want to go somewhere to escape reality.

We just got back from camping at MRA had a BLAST!! The campsite was clean, the bathroom were always clean, the river was ahhhmazing, everything was PERFECT! We had camp sites 8 and 10 and those two sites accommodated all of our 6 tents. The benches they have at each site came in handy too. We were also able to have a campfire, which the kids and grown-up enjoyed. This campsite is privately owned so you can have a campfire even when its fire season. The camp host are also very accommodating, they have a phone number for you to call and you can get ice or fire wood delivered right to you. Our campsites were also very close to the river and you could hear the river flowing while your in your tent. Our boys also got up early and snagged the best spot on the river for our camping crew. I highly recommend MRA/Kern Rivers Edge campgrounds. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to go back and reserved a site for Sept. 2022.

Found this rv resort on yelp on our trip down from Yosemite. The staff at the front were super helpful and allowed us to drive around the park to select which site would fit best for our family. We have 2 dogs that are friendly but can be protective and we appreciated that opportunity. They're allowed to be off leash and have 2 dog runs by the beach for them. Each site has a hookup and fire pit. As we were unloading, the groundsman came up in his golf cart and offered to bring wood if we needed them. I got 2 bags of wood. They're actually big bundles! The people staying here are super nice and the lady across the way from us invited us to bring our dogs and play with hers, (dogs name is River :) ) and it was super kind of her. We appreciated it. The bathrooms were clean. The sites were clean and had grass. At night we heard owls and coyotes howling across the river. The convenience store at the front has everything! We got s'more stuff and a little tool that extends to put the marshmallows on and not burn. We hope to be back soon!

This was a perfect camping trip for our family. We had a "river front" spot and though the riverbed is dry with no water, we still had an amazing time. The spaces are huge and allowed for the kids to ride bikes and explore. The new pool is open and very nice. The bathrooms were well kept and nice for me to take the kids to shower in a bigger place other than our trailer. The staff is very friendly and the park was extremely quiet. It doesn't sound like they have water in the river for very many weeks out of the year so thats unfortunate. We didn't need a river to have a good time though. We used the fire pit each night and enjoyed all the large trees with ample shade. We also happened to be here during the Kingsburg Swedish festival which is a 10 min drive to town. Kingsburg is such a cute little town worth checking out too.

Our Manager Jeremy Robinson is the Best!He is respectful, kind, helpful, and excellent Father, with very respectful children whom I adore, not to mention very hard working at that!Jeremy does the best he can with this park but could use the support from the owners to make this park nicer and safer.

"Friends recommended this little park as a stop on our way to Vegas and we could not have been happier. Rose, who answers the phone and takes reservations, was very helpful both times I had to call. She got us all situated in a pull through and easy in and out! Thank you! they even have a swimming pool, cable and WiFi!"
"Alright, I'm sort of hesitant to not write a review as I feel like I want to keep it "my little secret". But this place is amazing. Amazing views, a short walk to some waterfalls and streams, full hook ups on both sides (EG: you can pull in on either direction). The only 2 knocks I have; the sites seem like they could be a little tight if you don't camp with a friend (and have 2 spots together) to get 1 combined campsite. And the terrain isn't really level so there is some adjusting and leveling to be done on your rig. But either way 5 out of 5. We will 100% be back on a later date."
"Needed a one night stay to rest up. I'm not the type of driver to rush to my destination. This RV park filled the need to do just that. Rest! It's very tight spaced meaning you are quite close to your neighbors. Maneuverability is not an issue, but tighter than the norm when driving through the park. Primarily it's the home of many full time residents. They have a dog park area at the entrance and the grounds is well kept. That's a plus. I'd return if there was a need in the future, but can't help but to compare to other parks I've been to for the price point. I do appreciate that it is just down the street from the Pilot Travel Center."
"Last minute change of plans heading back home. I was able to call and get someone on the phone to answer my questions before booking. We had our doubts altering reading the Yelp and other site reviews but overall if you are just looking for a hot shower, place in between the bay area and SoCal for the night this will do the trick. We checked in late (around 12 am) and we got the text with gate code etc around 530 pm. Just in case after reading the reviews here in the notes in the reservation we said we would be coming later than 630 pm. Our welcome packet was where it was supposed to be and it was easy to find our spot. As other reviews have said very clean bathrooms and showers. After being at beaches and state parks this was a welcome change. Our dog was able to run around in the k9 park area before starting the trip back home. Overall we don't really pay attention to the amenities at KOAs but the gym and the pool looked decent."
"Had a one nighter here and glad we did. It's tucked down a few miles from the Flying J so it was convenient for me personally. The lady who checked us in was very welcoming. She did warn us about the Coyote out at the airfield and she was right. After setting up camp, there was the Coyote searching for ground squirrels. I would not leave your pets unattended. We had water and electricity at our site. The dump station is located right in front of their office. There's a laundry room available as well.I do wished we would see activity at the airfield. Perhaps it was late Sunday. The weather and sunset was beautiful. I'd return for sure if an opportunity arises."
"The park has gone down so badly over the past 5 or 6 years. They only pave the first few feet of the entry way. The trees are almost all dead and taken out with out being replaced. The laundry room is run down with old machines that are expensive and don't run that well. The cable is old and daily goes out, stops or freezes. The area to walk your dog has flees and ticks and management doesn't feel it is a problem. The storage area has become so infested with mice, they have ruined all your possessions in the spaces of numerous renters and many more are fighting with constant traps! The stench of mice is terrible! The electric rates have increased 4 times this year alone! There is NO low income rates or medical rates. They raised the rental rates on the park and storage with out any improvements."
"This is by far the best resort I've ever stayed at. It's very clean and well taken care of consistently. All the staff members are amazing at customer service, always are smiling and are creating such a great atmosphere. Me and my family appreciate all the staff members for making this resort a 5 star resort in my opinion."
"This place is great if you need a place to park your trailer for the night and rest. Barbra the manager/owner is a sweet lady."
"This was the fourth time we've stayed at Camp James. The first time we stayed in a tent on the riverfront, and the last three times we stayed in the cabin. The cabins are much more comfortable! lol. The cabins come equipped with plates, utensils a large electric frying pan, electric skillet, crockpot, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, etc. Cabins have beautiful knotty pine throughout and I just love staying there. This last stay we were excited to see a small herd of deer come through and just graze while we watched. It was amazing! I recommend this place highly . The staff are very accommodating and very pleasant! I will be returning for a fifth time!"
"So there aren't any showers or wifi. Buck up and enjoy the fruits of nature. There are flush toilets, water and electric hookups for around $30 a day. The sites were shaded enough and large enough to feel comfortable in the daytime and not all up your neighbor's business at night. It's also close enough to town so you don't feel like if you forgot something, you're SOL.The camp dude was super friendly and laid back but the county park people were incredible sticklers and patrolled every morning looking for any discrepancies in the rule abiding. Also if you camp here a night and leave to check out another site, you can't return to another Ventura County campground for a week. To keep out that riff raff.Another thing that begs mentioning: there is a very busy train track DIRECTLY situated behind the campsites. When it passes in the night you may be ripped from your peaceful fresh air induced sleep and the first thing that pops into your confused head is: the apocalypse has begun! But if you stay for a few days, you get used to it. There are also black widow spiders who like to hang out by the bathrooms. Be vigilant. So why the 4 star review? Because this place marks the beginning of my stay in California and it holds a special place in my heart."
"Our first visit here and first year camping out was a blast and to remember. The staff are friendly and hardworking keeping up the campground clean and safe.We will definitely take a trip again"
"This was a nice stop on our trip back to Phoenix. Big spaces, level, and a really nice garden. There was a nice size dog park as well. There are some full timers here, but everything was neat and clean. There is a dedicated row for one nighters, so it was easy in/out for us. All spaces are pull thru so that was great for ease wirh our toad. Not too bad a distance from Bakersfield either, if you needed a grocery or dinner run."
"We found this little gem in our Good Sam RV park guide. Because we needed to be in Visalia we only had a choice between this park and KOA. Price wise it was an easy choice. My wife called and talked with the manager who was very helpful and provided all the information we needed to make our choice. Park is very clean and quiet. The facilities are impeccable. Showers are clean and the water is hot. No pull throughs but the backins are all paved, level and have their own picnic tables. We stayed here 9 days in our Winnebago Via."
"So we have been staying at KOA's since our Yellowstone trip and we love them. We have done the camping from tent villages to single cabins. But this was the icing on the cake because we were in a deluxe cabin and it was AMAZING!!! The cabin had two rooms, one with a bunk bed and one with a queen bed. Upstairs there is another queen pad so you can sleep on. Just be careful because the ceiling lays low so better for kids. But caution, it is easy to fall down the stairs so be careful. So maybe not suggested if you are a sleep walker. They have a decent sized dining room with a fridge, sink, microwave, and eating utensils-plates, bowls, forks, etc. You need to take your own bowl with you to the Ice Cream social on Friday nights and your own plate to the Pancake social on Sunday mornings. The plus is we had our own bathroom so we didn't have to use the community showers and toilets. Def a plus during these bizarre times, right? There is a bar inside also but due to COVID it was closed...bummer!!! But we will be back for that because they have activities in there throughout the year. Sounded like a lot of fun. They also have a pool, splash pad, dog park, and playground for the kids. The pool got a little too busy so we didn't get to use it. Still not comfortable with the whole pandemic going on so didn't want to take a chance. Due to the fire in Sequoia, we were really limited on things to do since a lot was closed. But if you are staying there anytime soon, you can drive towards Sequoia and stop off to the side of road to see the Kern River just be careful because air quality is pretty bad. You can also visit Kernville for a day because it is really close which was suggested by our hosts in the office. Overall, this campground is great. It is clean and the hosts/employees are friendly. It is a quick getaway and not too far from LA. Def a must see and stop for everyone."
"This is not a resort. We didn't do our research before we booked our non-refundable $50 a night. I was hoping they have improved things in response to all of the negative reviews but no such luck. We arrived mid-day on Friday and had to call three times to get someone to help us with checking in. The bar for the gate looks like it was pieced together by a child. The person who came to check us in at the gate was a young teenage girl who gave us the wrong code. Once we got in it is obvious many people who are struggling financially live there. Junky RVs, truck trailers that are mid conversion, lots of weeds and a "dog park" that abuts an abandoned looking trailer with an equally decrepit cross. I have two stars because the pad at our site was fine, the power and water worked. If you NEED a place to stay, not a vacation then it's an expensive but ok option but the word resort has absolutely nothing to do with this place."
"We love going here go get away from all the business in the city. Great to reconnect with nature and each other. Wonderful family spot. Good hikes and great times!!"
"I visited Tapo Canyon Park recently and was impressed. First of all, it's amazing that a place which feels this remote is literally right on the outskirts of Simi Valley. Once you're here, it's as if civilization vanishes, even though it's just down the street.Another great thing about this campground are showers and hookups. Those little luxuries are nice for those of us who are used to basic camping with few amenities. While there's not a lot of shade directly over the campsites, there are a few nice mature trees around the park, which BTW features an excellent fully paved loop and perfectly level pads. You can pitch tents here, but it's the ideal spot for RV's, campers and trailers. Adjacent to the campground is a really nice green park, hiking trails, playground and huge open space with facilities for scouting, birthdays, picnics - you name it. Great facility for families and kids. This facility is very quiet at night. The most noise you'll hear is coyote song, crickets and perhaps the laughter of your camping neighbors. And being a short distance from Simi proper, food, drink and supplies are just a short drive away. The camp host is extremely experienced, helpful and friendly as well.I highly recommend Tapo Canyon Park, especially as a great local getaway with your family and RV."
"I love Serena the manager she is an amazing person and I feel she really cares for all the clients there and does her best to fulfill there needs! Thanks Serena for making us all feel welcome and comfortable!"
"We stopped here on our way to Yosemite from the Grand Canyon. We called and got a space the day of, which was absolutely awesome! They have great amenities, clean facilities, lots of green area for our two pups. To make things even better the lady I spoke to on the phone was extremely kind and explained the after hours check in process great. We felt confident we knew what to do once we arrived which made the whole arrival experience stress free and smooth! (They even had a nice "reserved" marker so we knew we were in the right place!) Our spot was close to the bathrooms/showers which was a total plus because we don't use the facilities in our trailer. Bathrooms were very tidy! Value exceeds price! Definitely are happy we decided to make this our stop along the way!"
"This is our first RV park stay, but we'd recommend it. An RV park in an established orange grove is pretty novel. If you stay when oranges are ripe in the trees, you can pick a bag. The oranges are super sweet and they have picker poles available. The sites are not very big, but with full hookups there is no generator noise. The bathrooms are very clean as are the showers and do not cost extra. There are coin operated washers and dryers available. The location is near the highway and a somewhat busy road. So if you are noise sensitive, you might want to bring ear plugs."
"I have been to this place a few times, and I always had the best time. I don't understand why people gave some bad reviews. I uploaded pictures I took a few days ago and hope these help newcomers before they decide. First, the direction to come to the site is very easy and clear. Only 1 hr from the LA/Orange County area, and you will be already in nature. Staff members are extraordinary nice and kind (they even walk with you to show your site and explain everything in detail. All camping sites are clean and quiet. The best thing is close to the bathroom. 24/7 clean! A little shop is on site. Very safe to stay. Various birdies. Great view. Start to End 5 stars."
"I haven't actually stayed here, the park is super clean though!! Very well maintained! We are military and we were Looking for something off base and closer to town and still close to base. We are Considering this location. We found it driving around. There's no information anywhere for it. To bad because it is really nice considering it's in Rosemond."
"Though not a resort or anything, this spacious and well-run RV park will handle the largest vehicles without fuss. It is arrayed with back in spaces around the perimeter of the park offering 30A full hookups while the center row of spaces are all pull-thru style with 50A plugs. There is no advance registration at the park: self-registration only at the sign-in station as you pull in. We just spent a year in the park, leaving our RV there as we traveled back and forth from our house for working stretches during the week in the AV, and during that time there was never an instance where there were no spaces available. So do not worry about finding a space, the park is big and there are always lots of open spots, so long as the AV Fair is not going on. **SEE NOTE BELOWThough you can pay by credit card if you prefer, you will need to stop into the office the next morning to do so if you are a late-arrival. As of this writing, the 30A back-ins are $20/night and the pull-thrus run $25/night. There is no better rate for pull-thru RV spots anywhere near the Antelope Valley that I could find. The restroom and shower facilities are absolutely spotless. Though there are cypherlocks on the doors, you do not need a code or key to use them so long as you are a guest. Wifi is provided: the password is posted at the office when you sign in. About the only drawbacks are the fact that the park is utilitarian with very little landscaping. There are small, curbed, islands of xeriscaped dirt on what is otherwise blacktop from end to end, but no significant shade except for a couple spots that are generally occupied. The other is weather, wind in particular. The AV is pretty famous for its winds and the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds RV Park is no exception. While staying there, use caution in deploying your awnings. You can get away with it in the AM but always be prepared to trim the sails in the afternoon as you will likely have to.We never encountered one instance of crime out there. It is rather off the beaten path, well-fenced, and there is no real way for criminals to get to your stuff without really exposing themselves to being caught.Tips: About the biggest one I can think of is telling you how to get there. Although the address shows up on H street, that is not how you get to the RV Park. The park entrance is off G-8. G-8 can only be reached from 30th St. West for this particular stretch of the street. Coming from the North off CA-14, exit Ave. G, travel west to 30th St. W, turn Left, travel .5 miles to G-8, turn left yet again and follow the street down to the park entrance. Coming from the South, exit Ave. H, drive west to 30th St. West, turn right, and stay in the right lane. You will turn right at G-8. Follow the signs to the park. Our year spent at the AV Fairgrounds was a real bargain for us. We were treated well by the excellent manager, Pat Rush, who really cares that the park is run well and that stuff works for the guests. If they had a little grass and a swimming pool the place would be a resort, but for a staging area in the AV for RV travel there is no better alternative anywhere close by.NOTE: The park Closes for two weeks during the Antelope Valley Fair every year. The Fair is held in August so check the web to make sure they are open if you plan on staying in August."
