Sean C. "I have been a patient of Dr. Maddox for almost 10 years. He is one of the best doctors I have seen as an adult. In fact, several members of my family and a family friend sees Dr. Maddox for care. He is diligent in making sure I am tested on a regular basis, and is always pro-active in my care. In the case of my mother, I honestly believe that she is alive today because of Dr. Maddox's intervention. One of the things that I respect about him is that he has not tried to do everything - instead, he has had a colleague implant her pacemaker, and another colleague install the stent. He explains that those colleagues perform those procedures almost daily, so they are the better choice. Certainly, both procedures went flawlessly and she's doing well. Dr. Maddox is very low-key and quiet, which compared with other doctors I've had is actually refreshing. He's not cocky, pretentious, or over-confident - and that is one of the reasons why I appreciate him so much. Plus, the staff at the office, including his nurse assistant, is really good to work with."

Xiouping C. "Whispering Pines Lodge in Kernville, California, has been a refuge for me for decades, and during this recent evacuation from the LA fires, it offered an unparalleled sense of peace and safety. Nestled by the river, it provides a tranquil escape, where the sound of whispering pines and flowing water creates a serene atmosphere. My visit became even more meaningful as I took time to reflect, offering prayers for the land, the animals, and the people affected by the fires. The lodge, with its natural beauty and calming energy, is a true sanctuary. The staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating, making our stay even more comforting. It's a place where you feel at home, a rare and valuable gift in times of uncertainty. I am deeply grateful to have this haven to return to whenever I need it."

Rebecca G. "I'm super annoyed with prior bad review. I would like to give 4 stars to even out the overall score but instead I will just hope people read my review before deciding against this place. I'm glad I checked for myself. If you are familiar with and comfortable staying at the older hotels that aren't nasty but aren't a holiday inn, this place will be just fine. It was clean, seemed updated (carpet, tile, etc). It had an in room fridge and microwave. Toilet was sanitized. No trash can in the bathroom was a little annoying but manageable. Let me warn you about the trains. The tracks are across the street, and if the windows are open (as ours were), it literally sounds like the train is in your room. My husband and I are both very sensitive to uncomfortable beds, and we both slept ok. The deadbolt/door chain was broken which I didn't like. And the woman who checked us in was very nice. Oh yeah, $59ish for 2 beds."

It's called "States" it's huge weekends for softball players. The best of the best come out from different cities to compete. Our city alone brought about 80 people here. Players, siblings, grandparents, parents.22-24 different families. Only 2 families had their personal issues here, and those odds are not bad!The kids LOVED it here! I'm sorry you are not gonna get peace and quiet until about 1030-11pm. Kids were playing hide and seek, ding dong ditch. It's annoying for the moment, but when are kids gonna make those memories. They play their heart out all day and deserve it. So chill out!The food was great! Unlimited waffles are huge with the kids. As far as breakfast, just be nice and go to the front desk, and they'll accommodate you another ticket. They have burritos to go for all the early birds, toast, oatmeal, and cereal. 3-4 self-serve juices. They give complimentary drinks 1 per person. A small bar area!Yes, the pool is crowded, but if they were to try to crowd control!! Imagine how many people would be pissed! The only ones that ruin it are the drinking adults that can't control themselves. They have 2 bbqs, propane filled and ready to use. Restrooms and tvs in dining area. Gina M. "This "Motel" was such an unexpected surprise!Yes, the rooms are (very!) small, but are also really cute, and they made great use of the space, especially the bathroom, though I would've liked a counter for all of my stuff. For the price (we booked on Hotel Tonight for about $180/night), it's a screaming deal! The property has clearly been recently renovated, the staff is super friendly, it's at the top of a hill, it has an amazing view of the surrounding hills, and it has a cool mid century modern vibe. They have a nice restaurant on the property, and, while we didn't eat there, we did have some cocktails, and they were great. There is no gym, so getting a workout may have to be a hike on many of the nearby trails or a short walk to town to try some of the fantastic food the town has to offer. Bonus: a heated pool and FREE TESLA CHARGERS, and nobody was using them for the two days we were there. Is it the four seasons? No, but I would totally stay there again."

Julie C. "Let's start at the very beginning ...I called at 2 am to check there was opening for a late night check-in as I was traveling cross country and needed a quick place to sleep & shower and check out in just a few hours. Upon arrival, let me be clear, the night auditor/front desk representative was very nice, very helpful & welcoming. HE WAS THE ONLY UPSIDE TO THIS ENTIRE bug infested, rundown, filthy, stained & stinky establishment. The outside appearance is deceiving. Cleaned pool, exterior is painted. That's where the good ends. All the carpets in halls and rooms, heavily stained, filthy, not vacuumed, and pungent odor. The walls haven't been wiped down in this building in years, our air conditioner in the room was not only off but broken, and no thermostat. The desk chair looks like it was hauled out of dumpster and wheeled into the room. Gum stuck to it, rips in the fabric, the faux leather stripped off, headboards on both beds looks like Wolverine had a field day and ripped them apart! Bathroom towels, not only stained, but not cleaned. Bathmats stained, and both beds had consistently placed long hairs intertwined into the blankets!!! The surfaces were all unwiped and layers of just old film on everything. It's quite obvious no one wet wipes anything in these rooms. Or vacuums, or cleans up stains. I have never refused a room before. I did today twice. And the kicker??? I spent a total of 24 minutes in between 2 rooms when I finally just drove away and the manager was not there so I was told I would hear from manager about the refund the next day. What I got back was an apology for our "cancellation" of our "reservation" and we don't refund with no cancellations!! They stole my money, used their no cancellation policy to steal it, the hotel is deplorable & unsafe by even the lowest standards, and they prey on people either suffering through their stay or doing what we did. Leaving and no refunds. I will be contacting their contacting zoning office for safety inspection, as well as the BBB, the two other agencies involved with their business marketing and most importantly: Filing a complaint online with the Department of Consumer Affairs at www.dca.ca.gov (800) 952-5210 Additionally, I will be filing a complaint with the FTC https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/ I encourage anyone else reading this that experienced the same things we did to follow my lead."

Cat N. "I stayed at this Residence Inn for one night but although the guy at the front desk was VERY nice, I did not stay again. I arrived after having chatted within the Bonvoy app but when I arrived, the guy was about to put me in the exact kind of room placement that I had said I DID not want. He was kind and quickly changed it. I went to the room which was very conveniently located near the hotel lobby and next to the parking lot so I could easily get to my room with my luggage. When I went into the room, I was pleased at how cute it was and clean! I unpacked and went to bed. This is when the problems started. The room was FREEZING. No matter how many times I put the temperature up to 73, it would go back down to 70. The other thing that was happening is I guess the hotel is located on a known place to drag race, drift, and burn rubber. It kept happening over and over. I finally called the front desk and the guy was so kind. He came to the room and overrode the temperature. He said that the heater is set to turn off when no motion is detected and it is my job to tell the front desk if I want to control the temperature. I have never heard of such a thing and I lived at a Residence Inn for a few months in SAN RAMON! Plus what kind of motion do they expect when people are asleep? So, about the drag racing, the guy told me that it would stop soon. I figured that was a line but he was right! Around 11 it did stop as did the kid who was running up and across the floor in the room above me. Surprisingly, I slept very well! The bed was not that comfortable but it was ok. I slept right through breakfast because it ended at 9 and there was no way I would wake up! I would not stay there again because of all the drama but still thought it was ok because the front desk clerk was a doll! I don't remember his name but he did share that his mom was in a car accident so if you are a manager reading this, ask around. He deserves a raise. He is the best! Such a caring person."

We had always exchanged our weekly stay every year for another location. Got to say that we really enjoyed our stay at the resort. Some family members joined my wife and I for a couple of days. Everyone had a very relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. As others mentioned, there is not a lot to do in the area. What there is to see and do, can be done in a couple of days. So I understand how folks who are staying here for 1 week could get bored. For my wife and I, though, it was just what we needed. We were not bored at all.Yes, the rooms could use some refreshing because they are a bit outdated. We've been to many other properties, and Stallion Springs is looking much older in comparison to the others. Still, everything worked and everything was clean!!The staff was helpful and friendly. Do wish we could break up our week so we could come here 2 days at a time instead of one full week every year. Regardless, we will be back. Stallion Springs is a terrific resort to go in order to escape and rejuvenate from our busy lives."

Inkspøt T. "I've been staying with this room for over a year... until today. I got a call early 4AM morning for a Family Emergency. Time flew by faster than expected and I was late paying for my room. I called to ask the manager to sit the stuff in the laundry room he yelled at me and told me her had my stuff outside, before hanging the phone up in my face. Mind you this is a bad area and there's all kinds of thieves and homeless people migrating around. I just don't think he treated me like a Loyalty Customer. Never have I ever been late paying for my room before. He literally act like he didn't know me. I've stayed here with no complaint throughout the summer with no AC AND throughout the winter WITH NO HEATING SYSTEM. Lodging conditions are definitely not all that hospitable especially to treat the guest the way they do apparently. I don't stay here every day but there have been times I've stayed over a week and was never late on payment. AND I WAS THE INLY TENNANT FOR THE WHIKE DURATION IF THE ALMOST TWO WEEK STAY. Other times I felt I would be late I called ahead like today but always showed up on time still. I work so I chose to stay here after coming back from a job that's in the area. Mind you the job consist of at home work. This manager put my stuff outside and I have over $3500 of work materials including Apple Mac books just sitting o. The curb because of how unpleasant the manager wanted to act towards me. I drive a 2023 luxury vehicle, DO I LOOK LIKE THE TYPE NOT TO PAY? I don't even understand what I could've done to deserve that. Other places I called and told them I wouldnt make it in time to pay and they were kind enough to put my things in their laundry quarters. I understand services have been slow and this property likes to do weekly and monthly housing deals with some of the only people who get Social Security checks. That doesn't mean treat your hotel guest in such a manor. If it's not a government check he's receiving from you... he's not interested in any conversation and excuses. He even threatened to call the police on me because I called back a second time. I'm just calling to make sure my things are straight. I mean the old man hung up on me in the middle of speaking. Ofcourse I called back. I thought the call had dropped but nope it turned out he didn't care about what I was saying or how I felt.Karma is a real thing and to be honest they're close to closing down soon anyways. I mean they live out of the front office and his wife is disrespectful any time she comes to the window. I've always bypassed any time of confusion and always walked on egg shells just asking for room service after staying a few days, and they'll get an attitude so I end up cleaning my own room and borrowing their supplies. Their is so much that I could be saying or could have said and didn't out of the kindness of my heart before hand and didn't. We'll now I have a reason to speak up. If I'm going to be treated in such a manor and I'm one of your guys most frequent visitor/guest why ?? Just why??? I don't understand but here we are.Happening actively pictures coming"

I called and talked to the manager Gina and she was nice enough to change my dates of arrival for a one time courtesy. Unfortunately, the rodeo was cancelled in Kernville and rescheduled for another location. I figured I would loose the money might as well take my son on a fishing trip. When we arrived Gina was there to check us in. She is full of energy and super nice. Explained everything and made us feel so welcome. When we got in the room and turned on the light it was still so dark in the room, kitchen and bathroom. I thought there is no way I can do my makeup in here. I didn't bring a hand mirror to take outside to do it. I wondered if it was just this room. It's not, my friend checked in to another room on Saturday and I waited to see what she thought. First thing she said "it's so dark I can't see in here" so I guess all the rooms are like that. What I can see with my blind eyes in the very dim light the room seemed clean and beds were comfortable. If you are coming here to fish there are many places one being Riverside park that I would recommend. The water down by the lodge is full of fishing line left by others. We broke two lines and gave up after two hours. It is very beautiful just to relax down there so it was still enjoyed. There is a fish cleaning station at the lodge if you should catch some. At night Gina gets the fire going on the patio in the rear of lodge. There are chairs and a table if you want kick back. Quiet time is 8pm and pretty much everyone stuck to it on our visit. With a small convenient store with several drinks, snacks, ice creams, toiletries, etc. next to the front desk, you don't have to go to any stores outside the inn.Another great thing about this place is that they have an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Kim K. "When we arrived we were so thankful we made it, as we had a little tire trouble coming up. At first glance it looks a little more "rustic" than anticipated. Secondly, I thought it was a room in a house (bed& breakfast), but it's actually more like individual motel rooms with your own private keyed entry at the bottom of the house outside. So, that ended up being a bonus.David, the friendly & knowledgeable guy who answered the phone when I called perplexed about lodging in the area just the day before, greeted us.We introduced ourselves and he directed us where to park and then walked us down the stairs outside and gave us our choice of rooms. He recommended the COUGAR room, so we took his recommendation. It's a basic cabin type room. But certainly adequate. The bed, although old, was comfortable. The bathroom had standard amenities, including tooth brushes. (We did have to request a second set of towels as there was only one set. The woman who brought us the towels apologized and was super sweet!). There was no Wi-Fi at the time because of a lightening strike. And there's no cable but there are tv's with DVD players and an ENORMOUS COLLECTION of free DVD's to borrow in the main house (or bring your own). They have fishing poles too if you want to fish. There's a hiking trail that goes to the back of the property to some waterfalls. We did not take that hike, but we did venture down to the creek. There is a big communal refrigerator upstairs on the deck if you needed to put anything in there. They have a smoker and bbq for you to cook on. And they recommend the restaurant down the street if you aren't the cooking type for lunch or dinner. We brought our cooler and some steaks and veggies so we thought we were good. But then, duh.. We didn't think about utensils and plates and such. Fortunately, David gave us a few paper plates and utensils. SAVED! (So note to self: if cooking, bring stuff! Haha) So we headed down the stairs to the large gazebo overlooking the creek. The water was especially high and was not something we could go sit in, like other pictures we saw, which would have been nice because of the 90°+ day.. But that's ok. We grabbed a couple of beers and sat on the swing and listened to the water. Now, I've actually lived on a creek before, and it's funny how one forgets the downsides of creek living, especially come dusk... But I quickly was reminded... BUGS! Yup, nagging flies, spiders, moths and mosquitoes! But in copious amounts! I don't know if it was the time of year, the large amounts of rain they had or just normal everyday happenings, but yikes! BRING BUG SPRAY! We headed in to our room with a handful of choice DVD selections from upstairs, showered and plopped into bed. Note: there is no AC! That could have made it a little more pleasant, but the ceiling fan seemed to help. Again, I think we just happened to come up during a random heatwave. We got a knock on the door and the woman from earlier let us know the power company was cutting power at 7:30 am for routine maintenance so breakfast would be available earlier. No problem. We had planned to get an early start. So that worked. We woke up early and sat by the creek, then headed up to breakfast. The huge highlight of this place is David's amazing home cooked breakfast! Bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns, coffee, tea, juice. You can tell this man loves to cook and make people smile. He was so accommodating and friendly! Actually, all of the staff were really what makes this place what it is!Yes, there's some updates and things that could make this a 5 star B&B. But the service is hands down is 5 stars! I try not to be too critical for mom&pop businesses, but I always want to add some suggestions to help improve what I thought could be beneficial, so I added those below. These guys work hard and there's a lot to upkeep on their 10 acre property. And we came up just before schools let out and it seemed like there were a couple of people who just came up to help get the place together for the summer. (They did have a brutal winter!) A couple extra hands would help this place out a lot I think.Overall, this is a nice place to stay. Certainly one of the closest to the GIANT SEQUOIA'S coming from Kernville area. And hands down the nicest bunch of people!Things I enjoyed:1. The creek is so enjoyable! What a great feature!2. The staff is A++. Friendly and accommodating! 3. Great DVD collection!4. Amazing breakfast5. Close to the GIANT SEQUOIA'S!Things I'd improve on: 1. Daily hose/brush down of gazebo and bbq area2. Dust the cobwebs, especially in gazebo.3. Might be good to get a few bugs zappers! (I know it's the forest, but when the sun goes down and them bugs seek out the lights and swarm, especially by bedroom doors!)4. Shades in room do not cover 100% for privacy. They should lay flat or perhaps side curtains to keep the light from peeking through the sides.5.Designated smoking area"

"Having spent a few nights at their more northern location in San Jose, I had no reservation with making a reservation at the location in Bakersfield.I'm not sure what makes Bakersfield so expensive but with Riverside and Orange Counties so close, this seemed like the only reasonable alternative. Booking.com showed it at the lowest price, but when I saw the Smoking designation, I changed that, and it put me in a two bed queen-sized room, instead of one bed.I had been over at the new indoor skate park taking photos and video and I had been so busy, I was late getting to the motel. There were no problems. In fact, the woman at the front desk got me into a no-smoking, one bed room, which fixed the price. The room is reasonable, not glamorous. If you think a low price will get you a four star hotel, you are in the wrong country. The bed is fine. Everything in the bathroom works well. The TV is a remnant from another age and the refrigerator was unplugged and there is no microwave oven. It's all very much the same as the northmost San Jose location--functional, not beautiful. The second night, the key did not work. Truly, I didn't expect foul play. Putting the card key in my wallet sometimes is okay, sometimes not. The people behind the front desk were amazingly friendly and only requested identification. They are a stone's throw from the zoo and a block to the beach, have bicycles to zoom about the pier and town, private parking, will negotiate a more attractive price (an offer I couldn't refuse) and the hosts were friendly, helpful and made tasty, pretty omelette's sadly in need of bacon. If they replaced the bedding, I'd go back, even without the bacon. P.S., In the main common room, look for the 4" shift where 1/2 of the house rose up, the other down. I'm told this occurred during a building move and it makes for an interesting architectural oddity..."I feel the earth move..." P.S.S. Though the owner disagrees with my description of their sheets, I know my sheet well (having a fondness for spending big bucks for high thread count products) and it may have been an error from the maid service putting on some older gear. But, this one has some room for improvement if they want guests to return. The good: everything worked, including AC and TV, nothing was broken or non operational. The area is a little noisy due to proximity to the highway but feels safe enough. There is a lot of green space around the hotel to walk your dogs. I even go up the street a bit, and there is plenty of grass. When traveling with pets, it's difficult when the potty area is small and dirty. It's not a problem here. The bad: I removed one star for the smell upon entering our room. There was a VERY strong fragrance that made me nauseous and hurt my head, like someone used a carpet freshener to perhaps deal with a prior bad pet guest. Also, I spilled some water and grabbed a hand towel to dry it, and it came up black. So I think the carpets need a thorough steam clean, that was pretty gross. Finally and most importantly, the bed is REALLY outdated, and we both woke up with a lot of back pain. The mattresses desperately need an upgrade. We were only here one night, but restless sleep from 4am - 7am because of back pain due to a mattress that feels cheap and old can ruin your day. Overall, this La Quinta is otherwise in line with the standards we've come to expect from this brand. But we probably won't be back to this one unless these issues are addressed."

Kathryn S. "Excellent place if your just looking for a comfy bed to crash on. Spacious room, fresh sheets, clean towels, TV, mini fridge to hold those late night snacks and drinks and AC to cool ya off during the hot summer nights. We even had a pleasant surprise when we turned off the lights.... someone had painted stars on the ceiling with glow in the dark paint! What a fun little bonus ...maybe owner doesn't know, best not to say anything just ask for room 21 ;) haha!If your looking for all the bells and whistles best to keep driving but honestly your missing a little hidden gem."

Carol N. "I stayed here for 2 nights with my dog on our most recent road trip. We visited Sequoia National Park and I chose to stay here for several reasons. First was that they were dog friendly (for a fee - $20/night if I remembered correctly). Second, they were affordable; third they were close to the park; and forth I wanted a cabin. My dog and I stayed in the Columbine cabin. I was more than enough space for the both of us. It had a private patio deck that you had to use the front door entrance to access. Meaning, once inside the cabin, there was no private entrance to your deck. I had wanted to use the deck, but it was way too cold and I also could not figure out how to turn on the patio lights. We just went to take pictures on the patio one day. The deck was pretty large with a private grill, a table with chairs, and 2 large wooden beach type chairs. Inside, there was a queen bed, with a TV, 2 sitting chairs, a bar sitting area, dining table with 2 chairs, full equipped small kitchen with a 4 cooker stove, oven, toaster, coffee marker, microwave, and small fridge. In the kitchen, dishes, utensils, and cooking pots/pans are provided and need to be washed to avoid an extra charge. I mostly used my disposable items that I had already brought to use. The bathroom was a good size with a shower only and a huge walk-in closet (that I did not even use). I feel like a smaller closet would be plenty of room and would rather have that space expanded to the bathroom or main space. There is also a modern ac/heating unit in the cabin. My wifi worked effortlessly also and was a lifesaver as there is ZERO reception. There is also no phone in the room. However, it says that there is a phone outside closer to some of the other cabins that you can use. For personal safety, I felt it would had been better to have a phone in each cabin as there is no cell phone reception anywhere in this area. My cabin was $160/night which was very reasonable. They are located super close to the entrance of Sequoia National Park. The park was literally like a 2 minute drive from the cabins. They also own the lodge across the street, which is right on the river. However, I chose to stay in the cabins because I wanted my own kitchen. There is only one place to eat at across the street. While I was here, it was very quiet and peaceful. They cleaned my room well. There is also parking right by your cabins. Just know that the driveway up the cabin parking is only one lane and curves uphill, so be cautious when driving. Would I stay here again? Yes I would! I loved it! It felt very peaceful and I like having a cabin with a fully usable kitchen. I would like to stay in one of the other cabins to experience it also. I did not have any issues with my stay or the staff here."

Lauralyn V. "Last minute we decide to leave the trail after hiking Mt Whitney. No rooms were available in Lone Pine. It's 9pm and we are exhausted. Most hotels we called did not even answer their phone. Yet Oasis Inn did. We told them it would be 11pm before we got there. They said not a problem. Front desk was fantastic and room adorable. It's a chic hotel with a fridge and updated amenities. For these weary travelers, we could not have been more welcomed."

Mary L. "New and modern upgraded building. Excellent customer service at front desk. They are very organized, resourceful, and welcoming. Honestly, I think this Residence Inn have the best breakfast bar setup compared to any other Residence Inn locations between the San Francisco Bay Area and Las Vegas if you're traveling to/from these areas. You get more than just eggs and sausage sandwiches in the morning. Food is fully stocked and very clean in up-keeping. Great management. They pay attention to details. The room I got on 5th floor near a corner was perfect. I redeemed it with rewards points. Full suite with the kitchen, good size refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/stovetop, microwave, and more. Updated kitchen with bar countertop and bar chairs. Nice! Very comfortable and spacious. Closet was spacious and so was the bathroom area and hallway going towards the bathroom. Everything was fully stocked. Livingroom sofa was extremely nice and comfortable. Make yourself at home. Everything was super clean as if I was the first guest using the appliances. Most importantly, the perfect night sleep because it was very quiet due to the location here. Bed was extremely comfortable too.Walkable and convenient to get onto busy streets. Retail stores, gas stations & restaurants are within easy distance. I do plan to be back during my next trips. I used to stay at other Marriott hotel locations in Bakersfield, which weren't always the best, so this place totally met and exceeded my expectations. The breakfast, experienced customer service, and cleanliness really sparked my attention. Looking forward to my next experiences here. Lovely hotel."

Angelita A. "Nothing is perfect. Room 209, it's clean and decent. I checked the bed frame and bed, they took care of the bed. It has bed cover and layers to cover. I feel safe from bed bugs. I went there for traffic ticket from San Francisco. Front desk are very polite. I didn't get to check out the breakfast. It was nice they have complimentary. I wish I can send tip. It's nice that it's close to Dennys diner."

Mark G. "Stayed here Friday night before camping one night at Willow Spring Raceway for the 2018 Corsa Motoclassica. It's no Ritz Carlton but it's the only hotel in Rosamond. Our room was clean, there was a refrigerator, HD TV with cable, wifi, clean bathroom, shower and above all it was cheap. ~$70 a night for three people. Another good thing is it was walking distance to Patty's Cafe (a great Mexican restaurant) and Guido's Olde Tyme Pizzeria (Great pizza)"
