The American food is still there, now with some items like a "Filipino breakfast" and adobo burrito. What is this singular breakfast? I'll have to return to find out.A wide variety of interesting juices, sodas and kombuchas for a random little stop. The homemade brownies are good if they have them.A few lovely tables outside with shade. It wasn't the fastest when we dropped by during off hours, but where are you rushing to?"

We came across this gas station and not only that. We were able to find some hot chicken and thee best potato wedges ever. I believe Chester's Chicken is a big deal in Trona with the small towns residents and travelers. The few folks working there were so cheerful. I just wish we asked a few more questions from the locals. It's always a plus. We filled up on gas , sat and ate in our vechile not only that we went back in for some honey buttered biscuits. I devoured those on the road to furnace creek city. On the return trip back to Los Angeles as I cannot check in twice. We filled up on gas, restroom and bought a few souvenirs."

"Needed to fuel up the car after fueling up on essentials from the Foods Co Grocery Store a few feet away in the same parking lot off, both located on the corner of Haley Street/Height Street. The service clerk was friendly, the pumps were easy to use and one of the more reasonably priced in the city of Bakersfield. I always forget Foods Co is apart of the Kroger Company so your rewards and number for them will work at any affiliated. We save $0.20 on gas with my rewards.Fueling up so early in the day there was only one other car at any of the many pumps, so we had a easy time getting in and out and the space between pumps is so massive it would've been pretty easy regardless. If passing through, definitely pump up here!"

Ben A. "Since cars tend to go a lot further on a tank of gas than they did in the old days, our top-off in Mojave tends to get us at least to Bishop before we top off the tanks again when we're heading north on my beloved 395. Still, we occasionally don't time the kids' restroom stops just right, or at times, blow past the Fastrip in Mojave and make it about this far before we need to stop. All that to say, for a guy who trailers through the Owens Valley at least a dozen times a year, I've only stopped here a few times. Unlike some of the other reviewers, who seem to be expecting a veritable Shangri La with concierge service models out here in one of the lowest population-density parts of California, I generally stop at gas stations to... wait for it... get gasoline. Maybe a bottle of water, or a fountain drink. Hit the head, sort of thing.I'm not here for scintillating conversation with the guy or gal behind the register, but as with most human interactions in life, I've found that extending a little courtesy and a smile to most folks will be returned in kind. This has always been my experience here... Sometimes it's not the warmest reception, but seriously friends, don't you have somewhere else to be than standing in a convenience store somewhere south of Olancha in a valley devastated by LADWP, waiting for compassion from a guy playing video games and having a little country laugh at your dazzling suburbanite expense? Lighten up, Francis. You'll live longer. Folks who live and work in this part of the world have always seemed to try their best to deal with the fact that they rely largely on business from city folks in REI parkas heading to timeshares in Mammoth, who walk in here on a time schedule and with an attitude. Not that there's anything wrong with REI. Just your attitude. And just my opinion.Sure, you probably shouldn't use your credit card in the gas pumps when the seal is clearly broken and there is a history of card skimmers being found in the pumps a few years ago by Inyo County Sheriffs. Apparently, one of the gals who works here has plenty of time on her hands to review security footage and write responses to Yelp reviews on the store. More power to her. As with everyone I meet between Lancaster and Bridgeport, I'd just tip my cap to the lady and wish her a very nice rest of the day. Also, I wouldn't steal fountain drink soda or put my kid's bare ass on the floor or a rural gas station bathroom. Especially if it didn't have a door. Other reviews for this spot are hilarious and tragic, from every angle.Aside: wanna blow someone's mind who's been "rude" to you? Smile at them, nod twice, and tell them you hope they have a great day and a better tomorrow. Then take a deep breath, and count your blessings. Kindness, people. It's catchy, and it works both ways in most transactions, monetary or otherwise. Coso Junction store can choose to have their staff play video games or try their hand in humor at the expense of elderly customers if they want to. And you can choose to relieve yourself at the Rest Area which is now wide open and fully functional right across the highway. Or wait until you get to Independence or Lone Pine or Bishop or California City or whatever. You have choices.I hope everyone at Coso and in the Owens Valley and in our great state of California chooses to be a little nicer and more patient with one another. Good luck."

May A. "James Dean's Last StopThis was a cool detour while we were looking for a gas station to fill up. Actually, this was not the intended gas station we wanted to go to because gas prices here are through the roof. There was a cheaper one up the road but I wanted to take a look inside the store. That huge wooden cut out of James Dean was what really got me. On the other sign was a scrolling digital signage display and I caught the words "James Dean's Last Stop" on the screen. Inside is a store that sold a potpourri of stuff. In the back is a "Forever Young" Restaurant (closed at the time) and across the way is the "East of Eden" Fudge Factory. Totally unrelated to James Dean, there is a very old carriage-looking buggy on display with a little history about The Dust Bowl Migration. It was a mass exodus as millions moved out from the Plains states to California. The buggy was filled with "stuff." In my mind I guess they just filled their car with whatever they can bring and upped and left. I wish I had more time to look around but we were on a schedule so I ended up just buying a souvenir photo book of James Dean's last 85 days before the unfortunate car crash that took his life. Worth a stop.Review #2993"

A hitchhiker? He was shouting and mumbling to the point where I did not really understand him.So I just stared at him (and flexed, lol) until he left. Then he literally approached everyone here. Benedict A. "Traveling between Bakersfield and Visalia and then home to Twncho Cucamonga for 9 months, I planned when I would fill up around this place. Time and again they had the cheapest gas prices around, definitely cheaper than in bakersfield or visalia or tulare. For example gas prices were $5.59 when other places were charging +$6.29 per gallon. This place is rather large and well thought out. The big rigs are all in the back, with their own entrance. Allowing the passenger cars and vehicles to fill up and use the facility with no issues. They have multiple fill up stations, never in my 9 months of filling up did I have to wait for a gas pump to open up. They even have the long and short squeegies you can use. Cuz one thing that's more annoying than cleaning your windows with a squeeze is leaving those squeegee marks in the middle of the front windshield. Always in good repair too. The amenities are nice. They have a connected micdonalds and subway attached to them. But they also have the hot foods, like taquitoes, chip and dip, coffees, etc. They have lots of rows for snacws and junk food. As well as the entire back wall eith drinks (alcohol, liquor, energy drinks, soda and water). They even sell random items, hats, close, sunglasses and suvinour items. Those who work here are really nice. Smiling, saying greetings just being overall friendly. Oh and they are 24 hours just in case your driving thru there in the middle of the night, like I did once. Glad they were open at 2am!! Bathroom facilities are adequate. Sometimes it's slightly dirty and smelly, but for the most part it's clean and easy to use. Always stocked. They even have a showering area, and will call you when you bay is open. In the 9 months I probably came here over 30 times. And each occasion went off without a hitch. Either getting some snacks, some energy drinks, using their bathrooms to filling up on gas to eating some food, it was always a nice and pleasant experience."

The gas prices here are a little high but they are right on 178 and if I'm not mistaken they are the last chance for gas until lake Isabella if you are going up the canyon so you can't really complain. I've been stopping here to fill up on my way home from my parents' house for years; the convenience alone makes it worth the few extra cents per gallon.A couple years ago while I was filling up a nice new truck pulled up on the other side and I noticed that the driver had a fresh swastika tattoo on his neck. That doesn't really have anything to do with the gas station but it reminded me why I got the hell out of Bakersfield the first chance I had and was a warning that all the people that have been telling me that things have changed around town are exaggerating. The service is always friendly and they stock the 24 ounce sugar free Rockstar to keep me alert on the long drive home."

Sodas, coffee, chips, snacks and some other specialty items I saw that they advertise on the door. One thing I've partake in was their touch less car wash. Which I'm impressed with. You drive into and this little screen prompts you to slowly drive in as it sprays off your car the tell you to stop and put your car in park. Then the machine does the rest without touching your car. All done with high powered sprayers and then when done you get to drive through a 2 minute blow dry. And it's a buy 4 get one free with a card they give you and the punch for you. Worth it I think.
