Stephanie L. "Years long family tradition of coming here and I just don't ever tire of the Gateway. Depending on the time of year, the river might be rushing or slow trickle. The landscapes ever changing and admiring the gigantic boulders there just gives so much pause. They are awe-inspiring. Some of them are still jagged, but others are smoothed from the water. It's just an incredible location and I've yet to find anywhere that has a better view in Three Rivers. We've come for drinks or a quick bite to eat. No matter the season or time of year. This place is always a fit. Sometimes getting a table can be a little time-consuming, it's not the fastest moving place but it's worth the delay. Definitely recommend a seating that gives you a view of the river."

I recently celebrated mine there with family, and we had an amazing time bowling. It's a venue that caters to all ages, making it enjoyable for everyone. They offer deals throughout the week, and the Monday combo of bowling and pizza is unbeatable. The value for the price is excellent, and the overall experience left me looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for a fun and memorable time!"

Their bruschetta is always fresh, and abolsolute devine. The family size antipasto salad with their homemade Italian dressing is by far one of my favorite salads in the Antelope Valley. My girls love their bolognes e, my husband is all about the canzone, and for me it's the eggplant parmeasan. The restaurant has a calming, romantic ambiance with comfortable booths. There aren't enough words to truly express what a gem this establishment is."

Elizabeth L. "Bakersfield has the largest collection of Basque restaurants in the United States, with the Pyrenees Cafe being a super old one. I think it was first opened around 1901 as a boarding house, mostly for men, and brothel house on the side that served people coming in from Spain and other areas--the food and the women. It was also quite busy during prohibition making their own booze. Whether it was good, who knows, this was years and years ago. There are not as many Basque places in Bakersfield as their once was and I wish they would all come back. They are just great. The food is wonderful. It is often served family style and you just feel welcome. The ladies of the night are long gone and it is kid friendly. These establishments like Pyrenees carry the traditions of their ancestors, offering a Basque food experience to everyone. It is on a long street and there are several Basque places to eat and we love them all. This one is a favorite. Customarily, meals at the Pyrenees Café are multicourse, served family style at long tables, but they also have smaller tables and a bar counter. We always get started with the 'set-up,' a generous spread of bread, soup, beans, salsa, pickled tongue, vegetables, French fries, and spaghetti. Now you don't have to do this and you can have just bread or whatever to start, but we love the 'set up." I don't like tongue, but I drive it back to my dog who loves me for it. I am sure it is great, just not for me. The entrees include lamb, chicken, pasta, ox tail and seafood, or the special entrée of the night, which is always great. So, go. It may be a new experience for you and the entire Downtown (near the tracks) Bakersfield area can really use the business. It is super safe and it is fun. Oh, and now they have Breakfast. Yummy."

I went in to get it shortly later.Small wait and greeted by a worker. The order was ready and brought out. Paid for the order and left. The restaurant is nice. Spanish music playing. Lunchtime! Large order. Split. You definitely get your moneys worth! My half was absolutely delicious! Flavorful! It comes with corn tortillas. Authentic and delicious! Tasty beans, rice and fresh salad come with it as well! Great hot sauce too! Mother said her half was the bomb! Great and fresh! Lots of leftovers! Another meal for both! Bob W. "First, I just started my period today, so please take this with a grain of salt. First, the people are great! The food is great. The price fair for high quality food. So I guess my only gripe...so just be forewarned, they have gone to stand in line and order. Then go to your table. Otherwise a high class place, but for me that was a super low style move. I guess, welcome to the AV. So if your particular like me who needs peace and quite, you won't like standing in line behind every Tom, Dick and Harry, whose wife is a Susan, waiting for them to ask the 13 most stupid questions. Of course this comes while you are sandwiched behind some Loud Tom who is talking so loud on his phone reading the entire menu to his wife Susan, on the other end. I could barely hear the order taker or think straight. If I was really in Texas and could have shot the second Tom, I would've. That all said, the dude who brought me my beer and more limes was so kool i had to change this whole review to just beach about this one change I did not consent too, but here I am. And cuz of the beer dude, I upped my star closer to what they deserved. Ciao."

We first tried to eat at another restaurant a few miles away, but the vibe was obnoxious and too loud to have a decent meal. Luckily we found Vejar's to save the day!Family style restaurant with a bar/lounge connected. The food was good, service was friendly and pretty fast. Sergio A. "After 11 hours straight on the road, I was looking for a blue-collar place to get a balanced meal. Ale's steakhouse was the one I chose. No previous experience with this place, but lots of experience with Ridgecrest-NWC China Lake. I have been coming here since 1979. Yeah, damn long time.Back in those days, we would all go out to Inyokern for a great meal at Indian Wells Lodge. It was a little bit of a drive out of town, but well worth it. This time I knew I would be too tired to do that, but next time, for sure. So, what has changed in Ridgecest over the past 44 years? Not much, except more escapees from the LA Metro area. Same dusty, wind blown, hot as hell location in the high desert. Same salt of the earth residents and former military families just trying to survive. That is the attraction of this area. Plenty of No-BS people, unlike the cesspool of LA and Orange Counties. Refreshing to spend time around these unpretentious folks. You can see the meal in the pics. Jealous? You should be. I topped it off with a Margarita for dessert. Angelberto was my server, and he was welcomed by many other regulars tonight.Eat your hearts out, people. I studied all the meals that went past me to other tables. Lots of happy people and good-looking meals"

Whit D. "Want a relaxed atmosphere ... this is a good spot in Visalia! Parking is difficult though ; limited parking in front of this bar and grill. Better luck parking a block or two down the street and around the corner. You sit wherever you want ; and when you're ready you order at the front counter . You are given a number and when your order is ready someone brings it out for you. We ordered the California chicken; juicy piece of chicken, loaded with sprouts, bacon, avocado , pepper jack cheese and pesto basil aloli. Upgraded the fries to garlic fries and glad we did. They were delicious and plentiful to share. Also ordered a build your own burger - juicy patty .... Got all the toppings on it that don't cost extra. Freshly made to order; so be prepared for a little wait. It doesn't sit under a light like McDonald's; so patience is a must. Combo comes with crinkle cut fries and a soft drink. No carbonation at the soft drink machine .... Please fix this ... no one wants to drink flat soda. There should be a sign at the counter ; letting you know ahead of time ... so you can decide if you really want that flat beverage to sip on. The bar is busy ; the drinks made by the bartenders are good and reasonable . Ordered a sex on the beach drink, was very good .there is outdoor space to hangout at when weather permits. Place can get super packed in the evenings and on weekends. Go earlier before the crowd. Good place for big parties ; kid friendly. Clean bathrooms. High chairs for kids."

Moni C. "My partner and I chose this restaurant on our way down from Sequoia National Park, to celebrate our brand new engagement. We loved the Yelp photos of the food and the cool outdoor dining patio. When we arrived, it was pretty busy and with no host check in area, kind of difficult to tell where to get a table. After about 5 minutes, someone came to us to help us get seated. We opted for outside, it was cold that night but they have heaters around the tables. Also, worth noting the indoor seating area is small and dining outdoor gives you more elbow room (we had a stroller). The waiter came to take our drink order and although the staff was busy, he had a great attitude and was very kind. We were starving and luckily the wait for the food wasn't long at all. The plates came out looking delicious and everything tasted so good. When paying our check, we did notice once we got to the car that we paid the wrong tables bill. The difference was like $10 or so. My fiancé went back in to get it corrected and they were quick to void and recharge the right bill.Note: The restrooms were pretty messy and could use some TLC. I had to struggle with the doorknob for a few minutes as the door was stuck closed in the women's restroom side when I was trying to exit.Overall, cool spot with great food!"

But is it a good for Bakersfield where we really lack Vietnamese food options? Hell yeahhhh! We have tried the following:Beef pho: generous portions, flavorful and hits the spot!Beef rice plate & pork rice plate: so good! They come on skewers, a side of rice & sweet fish sauce & some daikon + cucumbers. Portions are generous and was such a yummy lunch/dinner option! Eggrolls: not bad but needs some work the wrapper gets so soggy by the time we get home which is like a 15 min drive.Garlic noodles: bomb.com if you love garlic get this! Fried rice: on the blander side but still a yummy buttery fried rice. Nothing alittle chili oil won't fix! Follow them on IG/FB they are running some soft opening specials on right now. They are located in the same parking lot as studio movie grill & offer booth seating! While the space is cozy, it adds to the charm and makes for an intimate dining experience. The food here is absolutely incredible--steaks cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was calm and romantic, making it a perfect spot for a date night or a relaxed evening out. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area with fire pits, which adds a cozy touch for those who enjoy dining under the stars. One standout aspect of our visit was the exceptional service. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable and helped my fiancé and me pick exactly what we were looking for, which elevated the whole experience. Service was quick and efficient, making the evening smooth and enjoyable. My favorite dish was the Ahi Tuna Stack--fresh and beautifully seasoned with center-cut yellowfin tuna, creamy avocado, a bright gazpacho, and a perfect balance of chipotle oil, furikake seasoning, and soy ginger lime vinaigrette. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it again! The restaurant also has a large parking lot with plenty of space, and while there are other small businesses nearby, they tend to close early, leaving the lot open for restaurant guests. One small critique would be the plating--it could have been more refined--but honestly, it didn't matter because we devoured every bite! It's worth noting that the restaurant leans more toward a bar-style vibe, so it may not be the best choice for kids, as the menu is more adult-focused.If you're looking for amazing food, attentive service, and a relaxed, romantic ambiance, Broken Bit Steakhouse is a must-visit. Mark S. "I've had authentic Cuban food before but, never like this. The food presentation passed the test. Each dish packed a ton of flavor. And they are not shy about food portions. Which I absolutely loved. If you're looking for a date night or just a nice casual eat, this is the spot. They have indoor seating and a beautiful outdoor patio. On first Saturdays of the month, they have live music. If you can't decide on what to eat, the papas rellenas are to die for! The empanadas were okay. Bland to taste. Hardly any protein inside. The ceviche was flavorful and amazing but definitely an appetizer sized dish. For the main dish, I recommend the ropa vieja (meat) for that real authentic Cuban dish. There is also a similar dish called pollo encendido (chicken). You have the option to make it spicy as well. The spicy level is intermediate. All cubanos are tasty as well. For cocktails, I got a canchanchara. Absolutely amazing!!!! I had a few and it def hit the spot. lol. My server Vidal was very attentive and explained every dish I got. He had good recommendations. Most importantly, he never let my drinks or empty plates sit there. I appreciate it when my table gets bussed, as empty dishes take up table space. It's a shame they are located so far away. They would make a killing in a metropolitan area! I did not like how they tried charging for extra house sauce after dropping some good mula $. Other than that, 10/10. I will be back!!!!"
