I really don't know how to rate and review this place. But I'll try. We drove in to look at their rocks. It was around 9ish on a Saturday, not busy. They keep all their rocks on the outside of the gates. So we walked over, I already knew which ones I wanted, since we have them along the fence line on the side and back fence. River cobbler 2"-4" for $199.98/yd. Now I'm, I know inflation is here, but this is just a complete rip off. Going to keep shopping around, maybe try out of town because there aren't many places in Bakersfield that sales rock in bulk.

We just recently had our pond built by Buck's. We were fortunate enough to have Nick and Armando doing the build and I cannot express how impressed I am with their workmanship and pride of craftsmanship! The pond took just over two weeks to build and was worth more than the price and the time. They delivered a pond that exceeded our expectations! I work from home and was able to watch them dig and then assemble the pond. Throughout the build I would watch the two of them stop and take 5, 10, 15 minutes just deciding the best placement and rotation for a single rock. Just trying to make sure that aesthetically the pond came out as we requested and also that the pond itself provided a safe and secure habitat for our future koi. It is so rare to find contractors who take such pride and time in what they do. Nick and Armando were everything I could have asked for in pond builders and I am grateful that they are who Buck's sent to do the job. We are thrilled and have been enjoying our pond since the moment it started running. I am looking forward to many years of its beauty! If you are looking for pond builders, I have to recommend Buck's and would also really recommend asking for Nick and Armando. Seriously, you won't regret it.

Two stars because Philip did a good job cleaning my pond and fountain, and gave me some (hopefully) good advice for how to take care of it. Otherwise, I would give them only one star. First of all, a big mess was left in the front and back yard -- including garbage from drinks brought to my property. My biggest issue is with the management. They gave me one price to do their labor -- with no mention of an hourly wage or that the work would go outside of that estimate -- and then when the bill came it was DOUBLE what they quoted me. Additionally, they came out to survey my pond and fountain and made an appointment with me for the next Tuesday. No one showed up. No phone call. Nothing. I had cancelled with a different company in order to have them come that day. I also made special arrangements not to go to work that day so I could be here when they did the work. I contacted them. They apologized and set up a new appointment for 2 weeks later and gave me a discount. But I had to contact them --twice -- to confirm that someone was coming the second time. I will not be using their services again.

I would love to give 5 stars but I can't. I love my pond but start to finish was hard. The quote felt a little pieces together. Couldn't get on the books without a $1000 deposit (remember this it is going to be important). Leading up to what was to be our construction start date I sent texts and left messages for Cruz about start dates and times. The morning of I received a phone call just to say "oh yeah they are coming out". So glad we had no plans. Everything we went over with Cruz as far as design wants and add ins like electrical and plumbing was not conveyed to the team sent out. Nick and Mondo did a great job. They made my pond better than I could have imagined. They even went above and beyond. Bring one exhausted woman who has been waiting years for this pond and you will have her crying at completion. Now after all the clean up and everything it is time for payment. I am told "since we didn't pay a deposit" this is our total!!! What!!! We couldn't get on the books without a deposit and the $11500 we were quoted and signed in our contract ended up being a total of $11900 but we still don't know why because just like the contract they never sent me I didn't get a bill either. I hope the after service is better than the prep part.

Adrian and his crew are very diligent workers. They are a unison. Everyone knows what their tasks are. They all work very well with each other. The biggest issue that we ran into was the lack of communication from Adrian. Things change as work progresses, I get it. Regardless, communication is key if things do change. Assuming what the customer will like is sometimes not what the customer likes. There were a lot of assumptions. Here are the issues. We wanted flat boulders in our pond. We drove to their yard and even specified the kind of boulders that we wanted to one of the workers. Adrian was out of town at the time when we were at Buck's looking at their pond displays. When the boulders arrived, there were hardly any flat boulders. Most of them were round. I told Adrian that I had three boulders left from my pool demolition saved and those were the kind of boulders that we were aiming for. He said he'd look into it and assured me that he would bring boulders similar to what we have on the second delivery. The second round of delivery was still large round boulders, yet they still moved on setting it without consulting with us. Things only changed when we contacted the owner, Mike, which we shouldn't have to after the fact that we've already voiced what we wanted. When they were done building the walls of the pond, they filled it with black crushed granite gravel. So we have these beige round boulders and black crushed granite in the pond contrasting each other. Not natural at all. We brought it to Adrian's attention and his comment was, "we do this in all our ponds." Funny comment because their yard displays didn't have crushed granite gravel. It had round river rocks. One will never see crushed granite in a natural creek or a riverbed. We insisted that he fill it with river rocks, which he did, reluctantly. When they were wrapping up around the perimeter of the pond and packing in the dirt, they weren't even packing the dirt in. They merely put dirt over open crevices and hand packed it or foot packed it. There are powered dirt packers that could've been used. Whether they have that tool or not, they should invest in one for these kind of purposes. I went through every rock crevice and every corner to tightly repack it with an iron rod dirt packer, which I shouldn't have to. Need I remind the readers, I had mentioned to Adrian that they need to tightly pack the dirt, but our conversation flew over his head.We noticed after the rain had stopped for two to three days, everything was drying up except for the area where the auto fill line was ran. It just kept puddling up. We called Adrian and he said that they might have broken the line when they were driving the Bobcat over it. He said they would have to come out and fix the leak and do a final clean out since the water hasn't cleared up after a month plus. Adrian did schedule to come out and fix those two issues, but due to a lot of rainy weather, we had to reschedule until further notice when the weather cleared up some more. No response from Adrian whether he got the message or not. Apparently he did because on the scheduled date he did in fact didn't come as we requested. We rescheduled again once the weather cleared up. The schedule date was March 19th. On the eve of the scheduled date, we contacted Adrian if he was coming out and his response was, "that's the plan." March 19th, we waited all morning for Adrian and his crew to find out they haven't even left town from Bakersfield. In fact they weren't even planning to commit to the schedule that Adrian had set up. No courtesy call nor text from Adrian. We only found out that we had wasted our morning waiting for Adrian and his crew to not show up by contacting him ourselves. We had our landscaper fix the leak where the auto fill line was leaking and turned the auto fill back on. The auto fill kept running. I mentioned that it was unusual for the auto fill to be running constantly and suspected a leak. Adrian didn't seem to want to hear what I had to say. We turned off the auto fill from 5:00 pm and waited until 11:00 am the next day and the water content dropped three inches. We tested the water level according to Adrian's specifications and sure enough, there was a leak. Adrian did come out to check for the leak and said if there's a leak, they would "patch" it up. We told him that we wanted a new liner, but he still insisted on patching the leak. We insisted for him to be on the same page and wanted a new liner, not a patched liner that will fail later. All in all, we do think that they all worked very diligently. The communication aspect is a total failure. I hope that they take into consideration that it's not my intention to bad mouth them. What they do reflects who they are and the company they represent. I hope it will help them pay close attention to their communication skills and the small details.

Service is extremely bad, they have just sent us the wrong rocks we ordered but won't take them back off our property. We have called the customer service so many times but won't let them take the rocks. The listing was wrong as the sign said "float rocks" but we didn't know since the the sign is 2 ways and rocks in front of it were white but behind it was the the float rocks. Got scammed, NEVER COMING BACK.

Bucks has been a huge help with my koi fish and overall pond health. This past spring I made the mistake of buying some new koi fish for my pond from a local fish dealer in Bakersfield. About a month later my fish were very very sick. I reached out to Micheal at Bucks for advice on how to fix the problem and hopefully save my fish. He went above and beyond to help me. To recommending treatment to resolve the issue, to repairing my sick fish. Along with treatment for preventative measures. Micheal walked me through step by step on how to try and save my pond and fish. After months and months of almost weekly communication with Micheal my fish are doing great!! I can't express enough how much this company is here to help with any issue you may have. I will not go anywhere else for any pond needs or new fish. Highly recommend!!
