Bocados Sushi Bar

After the drinks and two appetizers ( spicy margarita type drinks, and the calamari and spicy garlic shrimp) my boyfriend declared that this was one of his favorite places in Bakersfield! Wow! We waited far too long to try as there are so many great sushi places here. My boyfriend predicted we would be back in a few weeks lol.We were seated by the bar, which I really liked. Most of the customers were seated away from us. The bar area has a darker, bit of a chill vibe.... The service was great, friendly and very available....The sushi was great, good variety of rolls with unique ingredients. The Bocaddos roll had cilantro avocado salmon yellowtail jalapeño and a sauce... oh and fried onions. Unique and my boyfriend loved it.I paid extra to get two orders if the premium fatty hamachi ( yellowtail) and salmon sushi. My only disappointment was that the sushi came with all this sauce on it - a lot of lemon sauce for the yellow tail (with jalapeño and sheracha (spelling) which I was able to take off and move to the side) and a brown sweet sauce on the salmon. I was surprised and disappointed. Thus my premium sushi tasted like the sauces, than the sushi. It still tasted good but I would have ordered the regular yellowtail and salmon sushi if I was aware of these unnecessary additions. Next time I will be explicit, no sauces! A friend recommended this place which is why we gave it a shot. I am sure knowing what I know now, I will order better and my review will move to a five star review definitely.

I'm from out of town but heard that the sushi was really good here, well I have to be honest, it is!!! I was fortunate enough to sit at the sushi bar with a few more folks that were enjoying some new unnamed rolls! The service is outstanding! I asked the sushi chef if he would make me a roll that he would like an honest review on, something not on the menu, he agreed. Roll 1 was amazing, I really enjoyed the garlic, onions and jalapeño, inside was salmon and paired with the fresh wasabi it was outstanding and it left me begging for more!Roll 2 was very light, no rice! Shrimp wrapped in salmon with jalapeno and avocado with a base of cucumber and lemon, this one has no name so show them the picture I will supply, yum! Roll 3, yes roll 3. Was rice based with raw salmon and some secret mildly spicy sauce on top.The presentation was outstanding, the friendliness of the folks who work there and the all around atmosphere was outstanding, I highly recommend and I can't wait to go back , I went on a Monday evening. It's a must try !!!

I have been to bocados twice. I enjoy the drinks and the ambiance. But the food is always disappointing. I ordered alot of fresh rolls during my two visits. None of them was ok. Alot of onions and alot of sauces on the top. It is not an authentic sushi place for sure. But even if it was a fusion, they should reconsider it. It is far from a sushi place.Only for drinks.

We had a big group of us and they easily accommodated for us! The staff was great, and it's not super lit so it gives it a very class, expensive vibe? The sushi was mediocre, it could've been better. Very small pieces for the prices. Very mushy as well The drinks were pretty strong, and I think we spent about $200 between 3 people, we each got sushi, and about two drinks and two appetizers.

Great service, good food (very tasty) the place looks beautiful plus a good price. I will definitely come back soon.

We had made reservations at another restaurant for my mom's birthday but we were still waiting and decided to cancel the reservation come to Bocados instead. We are so glad we did! I called ahead and they said they would be able to seat us quickly. We ordered the sushi boat as well as some soups and the presentation was fantastic. The rolls were also very tasty!The decor inside is cozy and it's easy to forget the building is next to a busy street and gas station. Compliment to our server Nancy who helped us out and provided excellent service. We were frustrated at our prior reservation however that frustration quickly resolved with the great experience here!

came here yesterday for lunch, I have never had this experience, anyways i ordered the same thing I always do. The place was not even crowded and they took forever to seat us. Once seated the waitress came up and took our drink orders. She finally came back and took our order, it took a long time to get our meal. Finally when I started eating into my second bite I mentioned to my coworker it tasted funny. She said it might be one of the sauces on it. So I continued to eat and finished my roll. Not even a hour later I started feeling sick nausea diarrhea bubble guts it was the worst feeling ever. Not once ever in my life have I ever felt this way. Especially eating at one of my favorite spots. I don't know if the meat was out too long and spoiled . I won't be coming back for a while

Fresh rolls are really good. Service was quick and pleasant. Nice open dining area with a big beautiful tree in the center! Very enjoyable.

We loved our food and experience here. When we asked for the check. She brought it over it had listed a "ccfee" and it was a percentage of the total bill. I asked her what that stood for. She stated it's the credit card fee. I told her we would pay it but it's illegal and she said she was unaware so this me helping this establishment know that what they are doing is illegal and someone can sue them. Do with it as you please with this information. Just trying to help.

Wanted to keep ordering drinks but waitress brought out the ticket thought it was a little rude. Sushi was overpriced food not great. El ambiente no esava ahi.
