Bayou

Wow, where to start...there is no running water in the bar area...and the sink drains into a five gallon bucket which had not been cleaned in a very long time. Found a couple of mason jar style candle holders in the bar area and in the bottom...you guessed it, dead bugs. Near the drink well, in one of the bottle holder sleeves, dried fruit from lord knows how long ago.Then there were the water glasses that were on the tables as part of the set up. No water, just glasses. Probably should have called them glassware instead. No ice machine on the premises, and no way to fill water glasses since they did not have pitchers available. A real deep cleaning and some upgrades to the work area would make this place nice. It has the built in cosmetics and atmosphere to be a nice venue for small weddings (under 150 or so) and other special occasions like birthdays or special event dinners. Sadly, they just do not seem to be willing to invest to make the place nice, let alone great. It just kind of stinks. A solid renovation could make it a real gem.Assorted notes: Not great parking, refrigerator cold box was broken and the wedding planners were not made aware, air conditioner is more like a swamp cooler, not sure if there really is HVAC or just evap cooling.

What a dump, don't waste your money here. Horrible carpets, disgusting bathrooms(outdated sponge painted), no hot water. The food they cater sucks, and cold. Trees are nice but can't see the stage in a wedding event. Dirty, beat up walls, everything looks very , very used. Obviously the owner is not taking pride and keeping it up. It needs it badly especially in a bad part of downtown. Didn't feel safe walking to my car. They dont warn you about the flooring being uneven, even the first step into the place. Beware!!!

Excellent customer service and price was affordable. I was guided through the whole process. I did not need an event planner.

So disappointed - Lily attended with her three children at a private wedding - in an inappropriate outfit - the bartender charged guests different prices for beer - the rest room had no paper towels and the air dryers were not working - the food they served was NOT the food the bride chose and paid.

Started out talking with David, going over the contract what's included what's not. Everything sounded great! Within budget we were ready. Week of the event I hear from Lilly. Suddenly their is a lot of "David misinformed you". So much so the party ended up costing more! And several things were left out. Showing up I was disappointed to see a dirty floor and dead flower arrangements. Also her staff I.e bartender, security, food all showed up late! To top this off... wait for it... she brought her kids to our adult event! Three all under the age of 6. One infant. They ran around the whole night right up to 11pm when the event was over. Ridiculous

Attended a wedding at this venue and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Bayou was. The area is kind of sketchy and not well lit. The inside was actually well ventilated, well kept, and nicely decorated. Security did a good job of watching the door. In not sure how much they charge to rent out the venue, but overall the wedding was nice. I'm not sure who was providing the food a caterer or the venue, but they were serving Chinese food. Wasn't the world's best Chinese food but it was okay.

I can't even think of where to start. I would have gave this place no stars if that was an option. Okay, we planned a memorial (Celebration of Life) here. The first issue was a problem with the catering (that thankfully, the caterer at El Portal solved). Next, we were assured the place would be stocked, clean, and certain curtains, cloths, and centerpieces would be removed. When we got there on the day of, the place was a mess. None of the alterations had been made. There were dead bugs in the bathroom floor and no toilet paper. The floor was covered in streamers, bottle caps, pens, pins, and general trash. I texted Lily, the lady who I assume is the owner or at least manager, and she never texted me back. She arrived about 45 minutes and I asked her if she received my text. She said yes, and what was the problem? I began to point out things, and she got very defensive, first telling us that the room was cleaned, then telling us she said she was coming the morning of to clean and what did we expect? I told her, getting mad and offended by her unprofessional attitude, that we expected what we paid for. She had the gall to tell me, "but you didn't pay for it." First, she has no idea how it was paid for. She knows who brought in the credit card, and that's it. To be that unprofessional, on the day of the memorial, and to the widow standing right beside me!! Not only this, she brought her kids, who were usually crying. She was the bartender, and they got their money's worth. At the end, a bunch of people we didn't know came in and went to the bar, chatting and flirting with her while her husband cleaned tables. They went to the food that we had purchased and made plates for themselves and their kids. We might not have cared, if they had asked if that was okay. We had to bring our own sodas and water, pay for the bar, and deal with the mess and her unprofessional attitude. Although not their fault, I also have to mention the bums roaming, buying drugs, laying in street, and yelling constantly. The security guard that they hired was....well, to say the least, he was not intimidating and he actually fell asleep in his chair outside! The parking was ridiculous (there is none). we were told the small lot across the street would be opened, but that wasn't true. A lot of things seemed to change and the price got a little more each time. And then, to top the cake, Lily put out a tip jar for herself!! There was NO apology for her actions and/or words either. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone! There are no words to describe how ridiculous this place was. Disgusting venue, disgusting location, and disgusting attitude by Lily.

This place is infested with roaches !! They were crawling all over the walls on the guest tables .
