We stayed at the Barewood Inn about two weeks ago, and got 3 rooms. There were a few minor issues but nothing compared to my stay this time. This weekend we arrived in our room, which had a full bin of trash in it, reeked of cigarette smoke, dirty floors, AND the sink has been clogged since we arrived... I appreciate smaller businesses, and this is probably one of the nicer lodging options up in Lake Isabella, however given the current circumstances relating to COVID-19, I would expect a little bit more cleaning of the rooms between visitors for a bit more peace of mind in these scary, challenging times. I did inform the staff about the issue with the trash right away, and was told someone would come take care of it. But surprise surprise, it's the next morning and the full bin of used tissues is still outside our door right where we put it !!!!

Work brought me into town and upon reading Yelp reviews and assessing the distance to my client's this seemed like the best option. This hotel was very quaint and homey.Pros:Friendly staffClean room that was serviced each dayEasy check in processAbout 8 minutes to KernvilleAttention to small detail; provide lotion, soap, sanitation napkins, popcorn, coffee, and hot chocolate.Cons:Bed right under window, so when the sunrises it shines right in the middle of the pillowFirmer mattress with flat pillowsI could hear the TV through the wall of the room next to mineInternet down the first night

Came in looking for a room on Hallowe'en night. Called posted number as there was no one in the office. Smiling young woman shows up and did such a wonderful job accommodating us. Room was clean - place was wonderfully quiet. She was delightful- couldn't ash for much more.

I enjoyed my stay at Barewood Inn. Of course, it is not a Mariott but for $100+ a night, this place can make some major improvements. I felt bad when I was in the lobby and four people were yelling at one girl at the front desk. She has no control of the maintenance and I don't understand why people would expect a luxurious resort out of a motel in a tiny town. I actually thought the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to bring in two dogs with a small fee. The room was equipped with two waters, microwave, old coffee maker, blow dryer, tiny shampoo bottles and towels. Pros:-Dog friendly-Always has parking-AC works perfectly fineCons:-Rooms are small-Sink water was not clear (water was milky...gross)-Showerhead is very weak (expect a long shower)-Wifi is slow -I was very annoyed when two staffs (male and female) tried to open and knocked on my door Sunday morning at 9AM when checkout was 11AM. The response we received from the female worker was "I told him not to do it." Very unprofessional. Extras:The place is lit up with adorable Christmas lights at night. There's a really nice picnic area with a barbeque grill that has great views of Lake Isabella and mountains. The lake is not dried up by the way and it is actually quite beautiful.

Decent for the price. Some of the neighbors are inconsiderate about late night noise.

My girlfriend and I decided to head to Mammoth on a whim for Thanksgiving break but wanted to stop somewhere near the Sequoias on the way up. Found this place on Expedia for an excellent price and booked a room. What a gem! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the rooms are adorable, clean, and we'll maintained, and the view is amazing (right near the lake). We arrived on a Friday night and we're worried about checking in late, but the host assured us that our room would be ready and if we arrived after 9pm they would leave the key and instructions for us. The room itself was perfect for our needs, even included a complimentary bag of popcorn and microwave to accommodate our Netflix and chill session after our long drive. Great place, highly recommend it and I would stay here again for sure.

Okay. The only room under $200 on a weekend. Toilet didn't work. Roaches in the bathroom. Stray Cats wandering about from the adjacent trailer park. TV Sattelite never delivered tv. View of the lake? It's an old dried up lake

I've been coming to Barewood Inn and suites for the past year every time I'm in town for work. The prices are reasonable and the rooms are always clean and tidy (so nice that they have wood floors instead of old carpet!). I especially wanted to mention the great service I've experienced. The owner is very helpful- one time work was canceled, and I wanted to check out early. I had booked through Expedia, and they were making it very difficult to cancel, but after working with the owner, she was able to cancel for me! She had no obligation to do so but understood my situation. On this most recent stay, my boyfriend and I wanted to switch rooms because the bed was too soft and uncomfortable for us. The owner again was very accommodating and let us move to another room, at no extra charge. Small businesses like this where you can talk to the owners make booking a little hotel so much nicer than the big corporate hotels.
