I met owner Dennis Matice almost 50 years ago when I was a painting contractor. After a couple of career changes, I retired from 20 years of teaching. Since that time I have done some painting projects for myself and have recently begun refinishing front doors. Looking to catch up on present-day product and applications, I turned to Dennis at Bakersfield Paint and Wallpaper. The advice I got and the time given to help me was exactly what I knew I would get. I am extremely satisfied with the store crew and the products they sell. I highly recommend this business to both contractors and do-it-yourselfers!

Hi, I'm a dad. I decided to paint my kids' bedrooms and needed paint. If you're reading this review, there is a good chance that you are on the fense about whether to go to Bakersfield Paint, or whether you should just run down to Home Depot or Lowe's. Paint is paint, right? I decided against the chain stores. Painting is a trade and a craft, right? So old school is the way to go. Locally owned. Independent. People who know the business, not some minimum wage employees with 7 months experience. No disrespect to them intended. My point is, there is NO way that any of them are experts. Boy, am I ever glad I did, because they set me straight! I was going in many wrong directions (at once) and basically had no real clue what I was doing, despite all the pretty color swatches I'd looked at online, and despite thinking that I already done my homework and had picked out my colors already before even going into the store. Some familiar?The science of color is more complicated than you would think. I am very thankful for meeting Wade today, as he spent a great deal of his time walking me through every single question I had. Everyone there was great. It was the "old school" customer service that I had hoped for. And they were actual experts. A real, professional painter came in and sat next to me and gave me more tips. Read that last sentence again. I later found out he's considered one of the very best painters in town. He shops there. Painting bedrooms is quite an undertaking, and expensive. Don't waste your time and money. Fail to plan and plan to fail. Do it right. Talk to the experts. You'll spend a little more, yes. But you will save a lot of time and. heartache and learn things that you cannot learn (yet!) from Youtube. 5-outstanding-stars!!!!!

Incredibly friendly staff and super helpful. I have always gone to Sherwin Williams for paint but my work has an account here. After coming here a few times and placing orders I know I'll be coming here more. Very nice, courteous and professional. Some paint stores treat non professionals poorly but not here. They carry Benjamin Moore which is a great brand that stands up to Sherwin Williams forsure. They are a local business and have been around for a long time. I found my new spot for paint. Come check them out.

Love this company!My husband and I just bought our first house, and Steve at Bakersfield Paint & Wallpaper was SO helpful! I was clueless about what to buy to paint our house, but I'd found the paint color I wanted on Pinterest. Steve made sure I got the right sheen, explained all the pros and cons like washability and such for each option, and was patient answering question after question about what I'm sure was obvious to him.The entire staff at Bakersfield Paint was friendly. The shop is clean, well stocked, and comfortable. They're quick and efficient and even delivered paint to my house one morning.If I had a go to paint company, Bakersfield Paint & Wallpaper would be it. Definitely recommended!

None of the people working at this store wear a mask to protect others from getting the Covid-19 virus. They are setting a bad example and this is dangerous behavior. A lot of the people who shop at this store don't wear masks either.

Wow! What a place! This store has everything you need to freshen up your home. They have an EXTENSIVE selection of wall paper and blinds, and obviously paint too! Dennis was very knowledgeable, friendly and fast (but also very patient with all of my many, many questions. Highly recommend!

Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. Had several gallons of paint tinted. They matched the color I wanted and mixed it so fast I couldn't finish reading an article. Been here several times now. The cost can't be beat.
