Bakersfield Flower Market

I needed some flowers to give to my cousin after her show. We googled flower shop and found this one. We used our gps to find the place as we are not from the area. It appears to be located in an industrial area. When you walk into the shop on the right is a flower arranging area. Being my first time here I wasn't sure what to expect. When you walk in you don't see any flowers. I wasn't sure I was in the right place. I asked if they sold bouquets and they pointed me to the cooler room. I was surprised to find buckets of all kinds of flowers. They are grouped by type and color. All of the roses are grouped together, all of the carnations are grouped together in bouquets of like colors. I wish I had taken pictures, it was amazing. I was hoping to find a mixed bouquet. I settled on a pink ruffle bouquet of carnations and another richer maroon ruffle bouquet of carnations for her sister (approx $15 each). When I checked out there person in front of me left with a huge box of flowers. My guess is she was going to make who own bouquets. I asked if they had anything to keep the flowers moist during our travels. They gave me plastic sleeves to keep the water from dripping off. They assured me that they would be fine for the hour drive as long as we cut the stems when we got home. She said I picked a hardy flower. I do feel that we got fresher flowers then if we had bought a premade bouquet at Safeway or somewhere.I just looked at Yelp reviews and pictures and realized that if I had asked they may have been able to make the mixed bouquets I was looking for.

Can't give a review of the items they sell because I was stopped dead in my tracks by indifferent, aloof staff. My husband and I were prepared to spend a good amount of money on flowers for our daughter-in-law who had just given birth to our premature grandson. It costs nothing to be kind. Not a smile, not a good morning, and not a hint of eye contact. My advice: always be kind, you never know what someone is going through. Needless to say, we'll never return and we'll make sure none of our friends or family have to experience the staff here.

To my knowledge Bakersfield Flower Market is the only wholesale flower shop in town besides Costco or Sam's club. I try to avoid coming here as much as possible but the flowers are beautiful and they are the best prices in town. The service is awful. Today I went to browse the flowers and place a large order for wholesale flowers. You need to place your wholesale order 2+ weeks in advance which is totally understandable! I went in with a budget in mind and a few inspo photos for centerpieces and a main table. When we first walked in the blonde up front just looked annoyed while she was on the phone so we went into the cold flower room to take photos of what we liked to hopefully make the process as easy and quick as possible. I got in line and waited for my turn and when I said I was placing a wholesale order her demeanor automatically became visibly annoyed. She quickly countered by asking when I would need it by and when I said the event is February 1 but I'd like to do pickup January 30 (over 2 weeks away) she asked quickly what I want. When I was showing her photos from her back room she seemed annoyed when I was asking for pricing per bundle. One of the hardest parts of DIY flower making is knowing how many bundles are needed for what your vision is. She saw I was struggling to decide how many of each I needed and she left the computer and told me someone else would have to help me. Weird but okay I started talking to a brunette lady and asked her if 4 bundles of a particular flower was enough for my main table and she told me she can't answer my questions! By this time I started feeling more like an inconvenience. They told me they don't display pricing because the prices change so frequently which to an extent I understand but when I spoke to her and kindly asked to help me work with a budget those answers couldn't be answered either. I got frustrated so I stepped outside and my boyfriend went back in to ask how much they would charge to do my main table's floral arrangement for me and the blonde responded by saying they have a large gala event on the 1st of February and wouldn't be able to fulfill that order if I placed it. COMICAL! This place is going to continue staying open but like I said for sure this is my last resort. I found a small business that sells wholesale flowers that is similar in price and would much rather support them instead of this place.

They don't beat the flower districts prices in LA but they are more reasonable than so many in the Central Cali. If I have the time I head into Las but if I'm short on time, this is my togo shop.

Staff very helpful. Get there early for best selection. I would also suggest ordering ahead of your event

Just found this gem and so happy I did. They have so many variety of flowers at great prices. They have every color in every flower it seems like. The only thing I can't rave about is the service since no one greeted or helped while I was there. I was unsure of who worked there other than those who were making bouquets or working on the actual flowers. Would still come back for some beautiful flowers.

I was looking into buying flowers for my wife for Mother's Day. I found this place after looking at several florists. It took a while to find a florist, but finally found one. I ordered online, and delivery came on time.

Very poorly arranged bouquet of roses. I was very embarrassed that my girlfriend got these. To their credit, they issued a refund the same day. $160.00 for this (not including tax or delivery fees). Will never use this business again.

Price was high in comparison with 1-800-flowers. The item I ordered ended up being over $300 and it wasn't what you'd expect for the price at all. $200 arrangements from 1-800-flowers outshined it.

The flowers look nice. They appear to be at their peak so they might not last long. Time will tell. They definitely weren't cheap, but were better priced than many other local florists. We would use them again when the need arises.
