I am a Purple belt from Los Angeles and have been training off and on for over 10 years. I dropped in on two separate locations. I have also been to both of their training facilities. First and foremost, the owner Matt, is an extremely nice guy. I am not one of his normal paying students, but he took the time to roll/spar with me and also took some time to give me some much needed tips. Both of his facilities are extremely large and very clean. Everyone there was very welcoming, even though I was from a different bjj gym. If you live in the Bakersfield area and have an interest in BJJ, definitely stop by TruJitsu/Bakersfield BJJ.

My in laws live in Bakersfield and for the last 3 years, I've wanted to come train here. In December while visiting I finally got to drop in for an hour. This is an awesome school. I was watching professor Matt teach the children's kickboxing class and he was so professional and patient with them. The school is spacious and clean. So much mat space, and all the students were very welcoming. The next time we are in town, I will be trying to get my wife to come check it out. If you live in Bakersfield and are looking to train bjj I would recommend this school.

I've been training at BBJJ now for 11 months. It's one of my favorite activities in life. I'd always wanted to learn a martial art but for whatever reason I didn't step on the mat. At 33 years old I feel genuine regret for not having looked into Matt Baker and the BBJJ team sooner. His coaching style is engaging and encouraging, making you want to be better, not just at Jiu Jitsu, but in life. The lessons you learn from him will stay with you long after you leave the mat. Discipline, diligence, and perseverance will be built into your character at every point on your jiu jitsu journey, training with Matt and Jill Baker.I can't wait to get my son enrolled in the kids program. I have no doubt that it will provide the necessary outlet for he and I to bond over the years, as well as develop in him certain fundamental values that every man should possess. I highly recommend BBJJ. If you ever wanted, even for a moment, to learn martial arts, go introduce yourself to Matt Baker.

If you want to learn Brazilian Jiu Jistu, at a high level, then Bakersfield BJJ is the place to train. You learn so much in a 6 month period, it's absolutely crazy! The training is top notch, and everyone there is helpful in helping you reach your goals. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in learning in a fun and safe environment.

Matt is an amazing coach who really cares about his students. Past and present. We moved across country and Matt looked into schools so that my 2 sons and daughter would have a good place to train. He has always cheered for them no matter where we were. Our family says he is like Mr. Miagi if Mr. Miami were patient and explained things. His whole family trains there and his wife is also a black belt. If you are looking for a gym in Bakersfield you will love this one

I FOUND A NEW HOME!!!! Their coaches are the highest ranked coaches specializing in the field of Brazilian jujitsu's. Working mainly on "position over submission", you will be taught how to escape and move around your opponent in a free flowing motion that does not require vast amounts of strength. This is an ideal place to start to condition your body, get a base level of fitness and learn how the Jiu Jitsu game works.Size and strength has little impact in this art, in fact I've been taught how to use it against a bigger opponent. This art is the fastest growing martial art in the world today! Known for its technical system of locks and holds, it is an art that almost every style in the world is trying to incorporate.Your children will get an amazing work out, learn real life self defense skills and be able to use it to defend themselves immediately! As a beginner, much of my practice have been isolated to one specific area of concentration and that's learning from higher belts. Since the focus of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for beginners is on groundwork and the body positioning that occurs there, much of your "sparring" or free practice with resistance will occur with both participants starting on the knees. Many great champions of Jiu-jitsu through its recent history have said, "If you have the clinch, you have good Jiu-jitsu." This is a theme that resounds strongly through the art's value as a tool for self-defense. The principle theory is this: In any style of fighting, whether the intention of the combatants is to achieve victory through the implementation of strikes or submission holds, one thing is inevitable: most of the time, the participants will clinch. Clinching is simply when both partners "hold" each other while standing. Thanks!
