The food is very good but the service is terrible. We waited an hour and a half for our meal when there were only a few customers in the restaurant. I have been there several times with great food, bad service. Our waitress went for a cigarette break and the bar tender brought us the food and apologized. And to top it off, the food was Luke warm. I'll return for the summer music but not for a family dinner.

Kelsey was our waitress and she was awesome. The BBQ meal was off the hook good. I usually use alot of bbq sauce but ate the brisket almost all without any sauce it was that tender and good. Everything we ordered was good and hot. Highly recommend this place

This place has really great food.I had taken my friend Lucas and his wife Tanya here the weekend following her birthday for lunch.I told them that they could order what ever they wanted.We each ordered a different type of cheese burger and with fries and we got an extra order of onion rings and we each ordered ice tea, this place was packed out. We showed up around 2:30 in the afternoon, if I would have been spending the night we would have came latter for dinner and ribs.It was my first time coming here and I was happy with my experience.The place is sorta loud, but at least everyone there was having a great time.The cheese burger that I ordered, I had gotten avocado and bacon on it besides all the other fixings. I was stuffed by the time I had finished eating and I had about a three hour drive back home. Probably two people could share a meal there if you are not a big eater.I highly recommend this place to others when you are in Lake Isabella or Kernville.

You get the smoke food within 5 minutes, it's awesome fast and !!!! I need to try my dishes

Really great food (we had a cheeseburger and BLT). The service was a bit slow as our waitress was very busy, but the service was very nice.

The 178 Bar & Grill has fabulous smoked meats in much of their grub. We have tried nearly everything on their menu and have never been disappointed. I love their hatch mac n cheese. Their salads are excellent and filling. My husband's favorite is The Pig sandwich. They have the largest smoker out back that I've ever seen. The owners take pride in their smoker and smoked meats. Everything I've ever eaten at the 178 Bar & Grill has been excellent. You can eat and drink in the bar area or in the family area, or outside in the grassy area. They often have live music. They also have a pool table inside. There are multiple TV's inside for watching multiple sporting events.Their philosophy on drink prices is to keep them high enough to keep bar flys away. This is not a dive bar. Food prices are pretty standard for quality meals. If you are looking for a cheap date, this will not be it. But, you will get a quality family-owned mountain sports-bar/restaurant experience. You may even make a new friend while you are there, as the customer base tends to be as friendly as the owners and staff. The staff work their butts off and are warm and friendly (as long as you are warm and friendly). They are worthy of generous tipping. If I recall, a tip will be automatically added to your meal invoice if you have a group. We highly recommend this establishment for a great time, again and again.

The smoked brisket was amazing! Best ever! Amy and Peggy were super friendly and made us out of towners feel more than welcome! The owner was super nice as well! Service was on point and prices were reasonable. And to top it all off, they are dog friendly so we brought the pup with us! We will definitely be back!!!

Great food and great drinks. Also Peggy was our sever and she was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!
