Bakaris Pizza & Kava Lounge

I realize that many of my reviews begin with joy experience when finding a neighborhood gym and this verbiage is applicable for Bakari's as well. Navigating through Atlanta to find vegan food options for my visiting nephew became a challenge last Monday. We started with two popular eateries only to discover that one closed at 6 PM on Mondays and the other required ordering through their website. I was thoroughly disappointed to not share the experience of both venues with him and thankfully happened upon Bakari's. We were greeted by the workers and the beautiful decor upon entry. The menu offerings were vast enough to allow for options, including pizza, vegan wings, kale wraps and a variety of French fries. Our selections included half of pizza which had lots of vegetables, vegan buffalo wings made from cauliflower and the Killah Kale wrap which came with fries. Opted for few dollars up charge to get sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! The flavors permeated throughout our selections. The kale wrap was perfect with just the right amount of spice. The sweet potato fries were really, really good. Yum! The cauliflower wings had good texture and will be added as a substitute for chicken wings. I enjoyed the buffalo flavor and plan to return to try the lemon pepper option. Back to the decor - artwork throughout. Vibrant colors accompanied the thoughtful design. The most impressive part of the Ari's was the customer service. The young lady who took our order shared details on menu items and answered all our questions. If she didn't have the answers, she deferred to the chef who was also present in the front and back of house. He also made a special batch of their house wing sauce for us, which had great flavor. Lastly, the hours of operation were conducive to late night weekends and a great option for dining in the West End!

So this is my second time coming to this restaurant. The first time I didn't eat. It was probably a Thursday around 3pm in the afternoon and I had never been there before. The music was overpowering at that time of day and I could barely hear the cashier. I remember asking how big the pizza was and then she pointed at the circle diagram on the menu. I took one look at that and thought that was extremely small, more of a personal pan pizza and wouldn't be enough for 2 so I left.This time I went on a Friday night at 8 PM. It was completely empty. There was a man sitting down scrolling on his phone and the cashier looked bored. I was a little concerned because I had been to two other spots in the area, one a pizza place, and they had a 45 minute wait on a Friday night whereas this place was dead. The cashier informed me that it would only take 15 minutes if I ordered pizza so I was shocked that they did not have any other orders in queue. The man that was sitting at the booth got up and walked to the back. Once we got our pizza, he came back and sat down so I assumed he was the cook. I was more concerned because I'm a stickler for handwashing in food prep and since there's no visual into the kitchen, one can only hope. After consuming the pizza, I read a review from a previous employee a year ago regarding the disgusting condition of the kitchen. They even posted pictures. I don't think I'll be back unless there's some reassurance that the health department has inspected and it doesn't look like that anymore back there. Regarding the food, it was actually good! We ordered a vegan veggie. I love how finely chopped the veggies were. My 6 year old also appreciated the chopped tomatoes vs the big tomatoes that people sometimes put on veggie pizzas. Although I am a fan of the thick airy crust, it had a little bit of a floury and salty residue taste to it . Nothing significant but i would have preferred not to taste it. Not much cheese visible but you could taste it on the pizza. Also thankfully the pizza is bigger than the circle on the menu. I don't know who came up with that verbiage to tell customers. All in all, great pizza but I can't go back unless the kitchen no longer looks like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

10/10 highly recommend! we stumbled upon this place and it did not disappoint. I am not sure why they don't have 5 stars because the pizza and service was amazing!!! The crust was so tasty, all my vegan years I've never had any vegan pizza crust so good. All the toppings were so perfectly seasoned and just all around good. Go try it out!!!

We had a friend that hosted a baby shower here. The place was affordable and they had great customer service. The restaurant was setup to perfection and had enough space for multiple parties. To be honest the pizza was mediocre but the customer service took over. They had great hookah and the music was great. Go check them out!

Upon stepping into Bakaris I was immediately struck by the enchanting ambience that greeted me. Soft, warm lighting cast a gentle glow over the rustic wooden tables and exposed painted walls creating an inviting atmosphere that felt simultaneously cozy and sophisticated. I did not eat because it is a vegan pizza place and the drinks were only shots.

Ordered for pick up and was extremely disappointed. Vegan Meat Deluxe Pizza ($12.50): with plant based beyond meat and impossible meat. Not sure what made the pizza sweet but there was definitely some type of sweetness to it. Maybe it was the sauce or the vegan cheese? I personally did not enjoy it too much. Bakaris Beyond Burger with Fries ($16.99): beyond meat, tomatoes, lettuce, vegan cheese, and wakanda special sauce. You can't really taste the wakanda sauce - so it was hard to determine what was special about it. The difference between this burger and the impossible burger is literally the type of "meat" they use for their patty. The amount of fries that they gave was so small I was actually really sad when I opened up the box... Wakanda's impossible burger with fries ($16.99): impossible meat, tomatoes, lettuce, vegan cheese, and wakanda special sauce. While I do understand that the price to make vegan food is more expensive, I was just shocked by how little fries they gave. I'm not sure if I would come back.

NOT FULLY VEGAN - Please be aware that they carry meat and cheese products, and sometimes do not specify. I ordered online and they forgot to make it so I told them what I ordered when I arrived. They made it and sent me on my my way and I ate the whole thing. Today I called to order a Hawaiian and they asked me "vegan or maholo style" at which point I realized I had eaten an entire meat and cheese pizza. I ordered the vegan pizza and when I picked it up It was confirmed, even the dough on this actually vegan pizza was drastically different. I should have been smarter and I was suspicious of the meat but when the website reads like this (see photo) I believed them. Pretty bothered by the misrepresentation of their business as I have been vegan for 6+ years, and I am always willing to look past mid food to support a local vegan place.

I was awarded with love and grace when I couldn't figure out what I wanted to eat. I'm surprised of the reviews listed here because this establishment had impeccable customer service. I couldn't have left anymore happier for the way they treated me or my food. I definitely plan on coming here again.

I personally don't like doing bad reviews on people businesses because I know that's there bread n butter but this one couldn't get a pass.. As a vegan I will never return. Food so ass made me think of all the worst spots I've been too & this has hit rock bottom. Fries not fresh, no drinks, no sauces. Granted it was 1-2hrs before closing but definitely not worth the $42.90. The service was not much to applaud there. Also there setting was like something out of thee boondocks.
