About as close as you can come to LA without having to get on a plane...They have some of the best hush puppies I have ever had and their portion sizes are more than ample. If you aren't sure what to get then take a look at the Cajun Combo.

I came here for my first time as part of a seniors meet up group that eats out often. The group of 16 people all got here at once. They were ALL here all here at 6:00 p.m. our meet up time. Here I am at 7:00 p.m. now, and some people at one end of the table not only got their food early but they're already being brought their takeout containers and bags ready to go when the people at my end of the table are still waiting for their entrees to be served. When the people at my end of the table got their entrees, they just asked for it to be packed to go, cos the rest of the table was done eating and their dishes already cleared from the table.!!Server is Michael B, but probably not his fault if the kitchen is slow. He did come and ask how my entree was after I started eating it. 1 star for the service (really slow and discombobulated.) "Service is OFF", said one senior at our table. We talked about resenting being forced to pay the 20 percent mandatory tip for our group. "They get paid their tip regardless of poor quality service.", said one lady but she refused to talk to the manager about our poor service for mandatory tip. I ordered Cajan Combo for $19.75. Came with so what's your hospital tell me sister chicken and sausage gumbo, crawfish etoufee, green olive coleslaw side, and jambalaya. The green olive coleslaw was really good. The crawfish etoufee was really buttery tasty. And 3 stars for the food taste, equal 2 stars for my dining experience today, May 1, 2024. But, I paid more than $25 including tax and tip for the 4 items in the picture below, no drink included. It is mostly cabbage and rice. Not worth it. I'd rather go to Hibachi Grill less than a mile away on a weekend and for $18 my senior 10% off price I could eat all you can eat snow crab, oysters on half shell, crawdads, but I have to pick the meat out myself, sushi, shrimp cooked seven different ways, and all manner of another hundred items for less than $20.

Baby Kay's is always fun and delicious. Their crawfish étouffée is buttery and flavorful, and their smothered pork chop special is worth going back for multiple times. They often have live music which is relaxing and not overpowering, and I have always had attentive service when I go. When you finish your meal, make sure you get a slice of their pecan pie- which took me right back home to my southern roots! Highly, highly recommend this location!!

I was told this place had great catfish so I decided to check it out one Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy but my sister and I was seated right away. There was a New Orleans vibe with all the Mardi Gras decor. Our server was great, but it took a while for the food to come out. I tried the catfish and it didn't taste like catfish. I also tried the LuLu wings which had a good taste. The wings were a little big for my liking. They were at best right after being cooked. Not so great reheated. The chocolate cake for dessert was really good.

Loved this experience! Getting hit with the jazz guitar music walking in, the art on the wall, and the smell of the food was unique and memorable. I took a spot at the bar and was attended to quickly, even though the place was packed. I ordered the Duck and Andouille Sausage Gumbo (cup) and the Catfish Dinner. The gumbo was packed with flavor and had the perfect kick. The catfish was flaky and cooked perfectly. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'm totally gonna hit this place up again....there's lots on the menu I must try!

Visiting Arizona and PBS (public television) features a show called, Check, Please! Arizona. This restaurant was featured and piqued my curiosity. Baby Kay's has quite a backstory--explained on the TV show and back of the menu. I started my meal with iced tea and a half basket of hush puppies with two spicy sauces. Their hush puppies were flavorful, piping hot with a crunchy exterior and tasty interior. They have a full bar. The ambiance is dark with ceiling fans spinning and blues music flowing. "Wine Head Woman"," lots of Albert King songs & BB King tunes, "A Sunday Kind of Love" by Etta James and Tracy Chapman's, Given Me a Reason set the musical vibe. Baby Kay's has "live" music on weekends. There's a small patio for outdoor dining. Dessert--of course! The question is which one? There's King Cake (a New Orleans dessert, Sweet Potato pie review (on Check, Please! Arizona was lukewarm. I asked my server, a fellow Hoosier, and a Ben Davis H. S. graduate recommended Pecan Pie. I asked Key Lime pie or Pecan pie. It was served hot with whipped cream.

I can't say enough good things about this place! I just love love love the food and the service! Rob is a hoot! He and I sat at the bar and yuck it up for at least 30 minutes. Everyone goes for the seafood gumbo but trust me when I tell you, the duck and sausage gumbo is the way to go! It's spicy and it's just so damn good! In fact, I've been there three days in a row and I've had the duck gumbo and the catfish each time! Oh, and speaking of the catfish, my God, is it good! If you like Cajun food, you've got to come here! The food here will make you want to pimp slap your mama!

Last night was our first experience at Baby Kay's and would enjoy going again to try some of the other dishes. Crab cakes were moist and tasty, red beans and rice, just like I like it. And the service was prompt and pleasant.
