My partner and I enjoyed the high rise seafood tower and lobster rolls and they did not disappoint. It has been over 5 1/2 years since I have been here since I have moved away to a different coast, and it is still the same high quality that I enjoyed when I lived in Boston. Everything was exquisite. The service was gentle and prompt without being over bearing. Thank you for a lovely evening

It's a tough one to write but B&G is a shell of its former self. I've probably eaten at B&G 20+ times over the last decade but Covid and the owner's scandalous press seemed to have really hurt this spot (one of the few Lynch restaurants that remain). There was a time when I knew most of the staff and the longtime host by name. Covid saw a 100% turnover essentially of the entire crew. The menu shrunk, prices went up, half price oyster promotions were needed to get people in. Sadly, the food quality control went way down and we have witnessed the cooking staff prying open closed clams (you know, the ones you're supposed to toss if they don't open during a cook) and serving them. I suspect that this spot is on its last legs. Shame really.

Quaint little restaurant with great food and amazing wine list! Looks like a nice bar to sit and have dinner. Highly recommend.

Love the ambiance, the service was good and upscale, the food was good but I'm not sure it was worth the expense. As a visitor I have been studiously eating lobster roll every where, and this gourmet level restaurant's lobster roll is very good but much more expensive than other places. The oysters are indeed wonderful, but again, kind of steep. I didn't like the Barbara Lynch books on display, when your chef-owner is mired in controversy, I think it's best to keep a low profile and let the food speak for itself. I'm glad I went for the experience, but I'm not sure I will return.

If you're looking for a cozy and quaint oyster bar in the South End, you have to give B&G Oysters a try! It is the perfect spot for a date-night or special occasion. It is very cozy and intimate. I wouldn't recommend it for large groups, given the limited space. We decided to stop in to celebrate my mother's birthday with some raw oysters. I would strongly recommend a reservation, especially given the limited seating and space. I am glad we made a reservation, as the place quickly filled up on a rainy/slushy Thursday evening. B&G is located in Boston's South End. The entrance is around the side of the business, right off their outdoor patio. I look forward to returning when we have better weather to truly enjoy the patio! It looked like the perfect place to enjoy oysters on a gorgeous day! B&G is mainly known for their oysters and raw bar offerings. The raw bar is expansive and offers raw oysters, raw little-neck, and raw cherrystone clams. They offer multiple raw oyster options to suit every taste and preference. We prefer a larger, creamier oyster. Our server was well-educated on the day's offerings and explained the flavor profile of each variety offered, as well as the location where the oyster is procured. The menu also offers fresh shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail, Jonah crab claws, and ceviche. If you are a fan of caviar, they offer three different types. For the larger appetite, they offer a "caviar flight", as well as seafood towers with a solid variety. If you're not a raw-bar fan, no worries! They have a solid selection of appetizers. You'll find fried calamari, fried oysters, tuna tataki, and more. They also have a small selection of fresh salads and of course, clam chowder. The entree menu may be on the smaller side. However, everything here is incredible. They offer classics like Fish and Chips, Lobster Rolls, and Fried Clams. You'll also see unique offerings, like Branzino. We decided to start off with some raw bar offerings. We are huge fans of raw oysters, so we took the recommendations of our server. We went with a dozen oysters, half Wellfleet and half Martha's Vineyard. The oysters were exactly as described by our server. The oysters were medium to large size and they were some of the best I have had in the city. They were clean, no sand or bits to break a tooth on. Everything is shucked and prepared in an open kitchen. Next, we decided to order a few of the shrimp cocktail and the crab cocktail. The shrimp were medium in size, cleaned properly, and incredibly fresh. No odd aftertaste. The crab cocktail was a generous portion, highly recommend it with a side of their toasted bread. It is plenty to share and is very rich. For the main course, we decided to order the Whole Branzino. It is served with an incredible caramello sauce, charred lemon, and a crisp tomato/cucumber salad. The fish was cooked perfectly and our server was kind enough to assist in "de-boning" the Branzino. The Branzino was super light and flavorful. The caramello sauce is truly incredible and is wonderful on the fish. The tomato/cucumber salad was juicy and crisp and complemented the fish perfectly. My only complaint is that we didn't EACH order a fish. It is THAT good. The best I have had. We will certainly be back. The Lobster Roll and Spicy Clam Linguine is on our list for the next visit! The service is top-notch and the servers are actually educated on the raw offerings of the day. That is a rare thing these days! Pours are also very generous. We cannot wait to come back for more oysters and to enjoy a meal on their outdoor patio. It looks like the perfect spot to kick back with some fresh oysters on a beautiful day! My only suggestion would be is to offer a larger dessert menu. That was the only thing that left a bit to be desired. Aside from that, one of our new favorites in Boston!

Good food and service. My friend and I shared a selection of oysters that were deemed briniest by the server. They were all tasty! I wish they didn't cost so much, or we might have gotten more (we got 14 total). I believe they were $4 each with same pricing for all varieties and no discounts for 6, 12, 18, etc. I got the mussels as my entree and my friend got the fried calamari. The calamari was served on what looked like a salad. The mussels were plump and tasty and the fries they were served with were crisp and well-seasoned. I had a couple of glasses of wine as they don't really have a full bar (e.g. they only have barr hill gin because it's served in one of their on-menu cocktails). Overall, the place is pricey, but the food is good. I would go back. Just don't break your neck on the stairs to/from the bathroom!

We booked a dinner for 4 on Friday evening to enjoy some seafood. The place have a cute outdoor patio but we were seated indoor. The space is tight and small inside, but well designed with a main center of open kitchen concept and a large bar. We started with oysters and 3 of them were pretty bad (strong smell) so we did not eat them. We moved to crispy calamri and watermelon burrata as starter, the calamari were good but the burrata was not enjoyable. The freshness of watermelon was covered by a strong taste of grill/charcoal and the tomatoes were tasteless! We then ordered seared scallops, they were fresh and well cooked; and the branzino, which was good but the salad that came with did not taste fresh or flavorful. Overall, we had an ok dinner but the grill smoke really bothered us as sometimes when they fire the grill, the smoke fill the indoor space.

No idea how it took me so long to get here considering it's one of the most famous places in Boston. Well it lived up to the hype, so that's impressive given how considerable it is. Their raw offerings are absolutely the highlights of the menu, and their patio is the perfect vibe.

This is a popular seafood restaurant off Tremont Street with an outdoor and indoor dining area including an oyster bar. I came here for their three course restaurant week lunch deal. I started off with the New England Clam Chowder which was very busy as it included lardon, chive, vegetables, bacon, and spicy puff pastry croutons. I enjoyed it, but it's very different from the traditional simple New England Clam Chowder. The main entrée was the Mussels with Fries. The fries were delicious and salted perfectly and had a good crispy to them. The mussels were cooked well, but I did not enjoy the sauce that it was served it. It tasted sour and I think it would've been better if it was served with a salty base. For dessert was the Vanilla Panna Cotta. Anesthetically it looked good, but the taste wasn't there. The dessert was surprisingly not sweet, but was instead sour. The Lemon Lace Cookie it came with didn't taste like anything and the Strawberry Rhubarb Coulis was sour. Overall, my feelings for the food is mixed. If the mussels were saltier and the dessert was sweeter, this would've been a four star meal.

With Dine Out Boston 2023 underway (8/6 - 8/19), many restaurants have special prix fixe menus. B&G offers the following lunch prix fixe for $32.Starter (choice of one)- New England Clam Chowder | lardon, chive, spicy puff pastry crouton- Snap Pea Salad | house made cheese, red onion, almond vinaigretteEntree (choice of one)- Moules Frites | Pernod butter sauce, crème fraîche, shaved fennel- Seared Salmon | fregola sarda, cucumber, cherry tomatoDessert (choice of one)- Chocolate Mousse | butter toffee, flaky sea salt, EVOO- Vanilla Panna Cotta | strawberry rhubarb coulis, lemon lace cookie, mintI had a reservation for Friday at noon. The establishment seemed half-full at the time, so perhaps it was unnecessary. For my order, I got the clam chowder, moules frites, and panna cotta. Additionally, I ordered a half-dozen raw oysters ($3.75ea / $22.5 half-dozen).The raw oysters came with lemon, mignonette, and horseradish cocktail sauce. The oysters themselves tasted immaculately fresh, with differing levels of brine. None felt overly briny; rather, they all felt refreshing. The clam chowder incorporated copious amounts of lardons. I've had some diner breakfasts that didn't taste that bacon-y. It also did not skimp on clams - every spoonful had some. The Moules Frites arrived with some well-salted and crisped fries. The mussels themselves seemed well cooked; I personally would have liked them cooked a minute or two less so they would be plumper. The seafood stock and white wine broth proved irresistible; I wish it came with a slice of bread. The portion size seems suitable for a light lunch.I normally don't eat dessert, so I do not have a useful opinion about the panna cotta.Overall, I quite enjoyed my lunch. $32 for the prix fixe seems like quite the steal. The oysters were also worth the premium price point.
