Ayu Sushi & Noodles

We came around 3:30pm, & walking through the mall there were a bunch of teens yelling at each other from across the way. We were thinking we must've came close to when school was let out. When we were sat in the restaurant we had a couple of teens on one side of us and then another group of teens on the other. Both were so loud we could barely hear each talking. Once they left, our sushi was served soon after, THEN we felt like we were able to enjoy ourselves. We orderedChicken Karaage - which was okSuzi Desu Roll - which was nice and refreshingSome baked roll - we think it was a dynamite roll. It had a lot of seafood on top. Very goodChef's omakase roll - also goodWe did enjoy the sushi here. When we come back we will just not come right when school is let out.

I had a business lunch here and this was my first time at Ayu. I was a very frequent diner at this location when it was Wokou Ramen and loved eating at Wokou and we celebrated many family events there.I was surprised at the change to the interior of the restaurant; it reminded me more of a library feel or a more traditional steak/bar type of persona now, bt one certainly should not judge by the change in decor. The restaurant was very clean.We both ordered hot green tea and the Tonkotsu Ramen; my business associate also had a spicy tuna handroll.The Tonkotsu ramen was good; it would not be what I call great as the depth of the valor profile for the north was a little weak/diluted than expected. My basis of comparison is varied - I am half Japanese and have traveled extensively in Japan for business. Also, I frequent both Raki Raki Ramen in Rancho Penasquitos and Mira Mesa as well as Gami Sushi in Carmel Valley and the depth of their flavor profile for their tonkotsu broth is exceptional.I am looking forward to returning and trying the tonkotsu ramen again as well as some sushi; one try of a restaurant during lunch is not the best judge of the quality of a restaurant completely.

Went on a Thursday night around 7/8 pm. The servers have the best customer service. They have classic rolls for 30% off. I got a delicious fruity cocktail called Sunset watching. I highly recommend anyone who's in the area looking to get sushi!

Our waiter Jayden gave the warmest welcome. The food was phenomenal and the service was second to none. The wall decor is extremely comforting and only added to the flavor of the food. The parking is free and very available which reduced a lot of stress heading into the meal. I would definitely recommend this place and plan on coming here again many more times in the future.

I've come many times for lunch as it's more affordable . It never seems busy so I worry if they'll be able to succeed at this location as it's a bit tucked away from everything . They have a nice outdoor patio which has heaters and is dog friendly. They recently added Happy Hour! Which was much needed and hopefully draws in more customers. Their lunch specials are what I've tried the most. The bentos come with soup, rice, salad, tempura, 2 pieces of gyoza and of California roll.Our recent visit for happy hour:Shishito peppers $5:- good size portion of deep fried shishito. I liked the lemony aioli on the side.House cab $5:- nice pour and decent to drinkGarlic edamame $5:- sooo very yummy. The sauce was finger lickin good. Chashu buns $5:- two soft mantou buns with a small piece of pork belly inside. The bamboo container was a cool touch. The buns were soft and the pork belly tenderSalmon hand roll $6 (no rice):- I was glad they could offer the roll with no rice. It was a small handroll but tasted fineSpicy tuna hand roll $6:- nice size and tasted freshI hope word gets out that Ayu offers Happy Hour as it's a great way to try some items here. Lunch really is the most affordable option. I've tried their Galbi entree and it was super generous portion and well worth the $28 price.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. The sushi is always super fresh, rolled perfectly and with excellent presentation. The ambience is great with either traditional seating inside the main dining area, around the very well stocked bar on stools or even the plentiful outside covered seating area with heating if it's a little cooler outside. The noodles are amazing with the creamy pork being one of my personal favorites. Try it, you'll like it. They have many types of alcoholic drinks and for people like me who try to be good during the week some non-alcoholic choices that are amazing! Pricing is very well placed and look for specials; save some dollars and get something truly unique!Cheers to Ayu and I'll probably see you there! Bon appetit!

This is the best hidden gem in Carmel Valley /Del Mar area (located in The Village of PHR)...great sushi (Hoshi or Sachi Roll), great food (Bulgogi Entree is amazing), great drinks and great people. Dog friendly and a great Happy Hour from 3-6pm! Lastly, great setup for family/friends OR date nights out.

Service was great. No wait time. $7 mixed drinks were fabulous. The food was great! Super warm happy servers. The server Jayden was super friendly and super cute . 10/10 would recommend. Had a great time with a big group.

Easy and accessible parking, great staff, delicious food, incredibly reasonable prices. We came in and we were greeted by the most amicable server I have ever met - Jayden. He suggested some wonderful food which the group and I devoured in minutes. I would highly recommend it for any group of food or drink lovers looking for a fantastic dine-in experience at an incredible economic rate.
